This hotel is not particularly near the airport or the city centre. If you plan on going into the city, beware that it will be a struggle to get a taxi back that will not try to double or triple charge you + the toll. However, there is a large shopping centre nearby to get most items. The hotel itself is good- there is a small gym and a nice outdoor swimming pool. The restaurant and room service prices are also very reasonable.
Swimming pool.
Advertised near the airport but it isn't particular- about 1/2 an hour, depending on traffic.

The Avana is a pleasent enough hotel that benefits from being conviniently close to the international airport. The journey takes no more than around thirty minutes. It is perhaps too far from the centre of the town and the tourists sites to be reccommended for sight-seeing.
The hotel is very well equipped in terms of amenities. It offers: a tour desk, a minimart(beats a mini-bar! laundry, hair salon, cafe/bar, restaurant, gymnasium( with weights and cardio)a sauna and a swimming pool.
Generally there is a relaxed, laid-back ambience to the place, perhaps to a suprising extent considering that the hotel serves essentially as a stopover than a resort proper. We stayed in one of the basic double room which had a (slightly scary) little balcony which offered a view over the city. It was fairly large. It had decent air-con. Satelitte tv offered limited choice of English channels. The mini bar was unstocked but for complimentary water and crisps for two.I would describe the room as perfectly adequate. The bathroom was pretty small. It did though have a hair-dryer. The shower head had become detached from its wall fitting. Mai pen rai...
Overall an agreeable place to to stay for a couple of nights and the room price with Agoda was very good value.
Airport - 30 mins.
Many Amenities
Far from the city/sights
- Restaurant Tip : Theres a decent 'buffet' i.e. DIY-BBQ fairly nearby. Ask the doorman to call a taxi-meter.

this hotel is in the process to be upgraded. There are some renovations ongoing without however bothering the customers. The place is quite, conveniently located near the airport. Internet worked fine, cafe in the lobby is convenient, small shop forsnacks.Staff however should take some english language lessons to make it easier to communicate with customers.

The rooms are spacous, clean, airy and well furnished. Everything is functioning. The staff is helpful but English language is not their hobby. Getting into town can be a bit of a challange with the taxies, the location in relation to the new airport is very good. The breakfast buffet is okay but the space provided for the breakfast is too small at times.
Low cost/competive rate.
Location outside the town, low English knowledge by staff.

It's not in my usual hotel list for Bangkok but I'd use this place again. I went as it was a venue for a meeting of about 70 people. The venue worked well, the buffet food was fine and meeting facilities worked well.
