Buddy Lounge Hotel has a great swimming pool. Our room was very quiet (5xx).
The room smelled a tiny bit. It was not the newest one. No coffee maker.
Khao San offers every typical standard asian souvenir. Buddy Lounge Hotel is in a house which also hosts a coffee shop McDonalds, shops, minimarket, travel agency and much more. So it is possible to stay in this complex without leaving ... Go west over Jakra Pong Road - it is a little more quiet there, but also good restaurants & bars
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : I f possible always use Express boats on the river. For Sukhumvit transport you must you the channel boat leaving from somewhere close to Golden mountain (close to Khao San)

Great locaton, good amenities, a swimming pool is a great find in hot sticky Bangkok. AC worked great
Staff seem a little slow on the uptake -- especially at night. It shouldn't take 5 minutes of diddling to get a breakfast chit. A little hard to find when the bus drops you at the end of the street and you hump your luggage through the crowds. Wifi was weak -- but lots of others were available. Not much sitting room in the room -- one chair.
We had a good time and enjoyed 4 days there. Great to trek around Bangkok and then have a refreshing swim and drink. We have recommended it to friends and strangers and would stay again, given the opportunity. It was surprisingly quiet, given the location above a disco and on a street that is a zoo 24/7. We didn't hear a thing in our standard room on the 4th floor. Staff were cooperative -- English a little shaky -- especially at night.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Puppet show in Limhini Park. Get there before rush hour and find a taxi that knows the way.

Nice rooms, extremely close to all the action, next door is a 7-11 and they got a McDonalds in the groundfloor of the Hotel. Nice pool on the roof. Water pressure is the same as in the rest of the country - satisfying-.
Wireless internett is a joke, pricey and terrible. I guess if you bring your computer to the lobby you can get check those mails and pay them bills.
Considering that the Butty Lott is situated in the heart of Khao San road in Bangkok, i really must say it is both cheap and nice. If you want Hilton-style marble and bell boys in a smart outfit, then go to Hilton. Buddy Lodge has better beds than most Thai hotels i've ever slept in, and location is undisputably superb. If you have super hearing or are over sensitive to party-music, don't go to Thailand. Exiting the hotel, you have ca 300 meters to the end of Khao San road, to your right you have ca 6-700 meters to the other end of the road. Be aware that the road is open to normal traffic in daytime. Allso, seperate streets with lots of shops are found if you follow one of the crossing alleys. Shops and bars are allso found all around the surrounding blocks. I have travelled in the most visited turist areas in Thailand, and i will easily state that this Hotel should be satisfactory for most travellers, singles or pairs, families and seniors.
Hotel Feature Tip : The gym is open till 24:00, and costs 200 baht pr day. Quite nice too. :)

Location in Kao Sahn (if you want to party all night).
Staff was nice and spoke English
Noise, Dirty place (old), pool overcrowded
The location of this hotel is decent for a few of the major sites. The price is pretty cheap as well.
Unfortunately the noise in this place is horrible. I was awoken on 2 separate occasions in the middle of the night (i.e. 5-6 AM). The first instance my neighbor had brought back a Thai girl and was banging away (sounded like a hammer punching my wall). At least hearing the girl say she didnt like it made him stop.
Next some girl was yelling in the hallway.
Wont be going back to this place.

The room was spotlessly clean and had a charm that is lacking for many in Banglamphoo
The staff could be a bit more attentive.
We have stayed at Buddies Guest House on several occasions. The rooms are fresh and clean and charming. It is bang smack on Khoa San Rd but was quiet at all times. There is even a busy bar downstairs but we could not hear any noise from it. If you are looking for a nice quiet hotel in the thick of things in this tourist area, you cannot do better than stay at Buddies
Hotel Feature Tip : The wi-fi isn't free but it is in the coffee shop downstairs

location, breakfast, swimming pool
looks run down, limited cable channels available, no tea and coffee making facilities in room, balcony door didnt open
reception staff quite abrupt in manner. had problems with internet access card I'd purchased which no one seemed able to assist me with. Air con seemed to be set very cold and very difficult to adjust to suitable temperature. The water pressure in the bathroom isn't good - shower more of a trickle than downpour

Convenient location. Happy, friendly staff.
Can be noisy. Starting to show its age. Smells of mildew
We first stayed here in 2004 and have booked 4 times since. Unfortunately the buddy lodge is now starting to show it's age and the rooms are in need of redecoration. Mildew is prevalent on the ceilings and walls and the bathrooms are starting to look and feel a bit shabby. The hotel location although extremely convenient, this hotel suffers badly from noise pollution generated in the main from the surrounding bars and nightclubs. That being said if you are into going out at sunset and returning at sunrise this is the place for you as during the day the rooms are very quiet. The staff are happy and helpful and the rooftop pool is a massive plus.

All fabulous! Great room, air con. comfy. Relaxed - great people and great breakfast
First time stay at Buddy hotel. There was nothing I could fault. The rooms were spacious, comfy and the air con was fantastic. The swimming pool a delight after a hot humid sight seeing day. The actual location is ideally suited. The breakfast fantastic. The staff brilliant. Buddy Lodge will be my choice hotel from now own and look forward to going back!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : From Buddy hotel the 3 Bangkok must are within easy walking distance!

can't think of anything much
it was my first time & i really enjoyed staying there. some people might complain about noise from the street, but it didn't bother me at all because i was ther for fun & i liked that atmosphere. i don't think you can get it anywhere else. there's nothing really fancy about this hotel, but if you're looking for fun time in kaosan, this is the right place.

Staff quite attentive to problems, etc.
I was put in a ridiculously loud room and had to move roomes (but they handled it within minutes altho I gave in at 4 am)
KoaSan rd. is non-stop and apparently there are all prices for accomodations. WIthin Bangkok, there are certainly better deals for the money, but to walk outside and have the convenience and service, it was a good value.
Travel tip : Don't get the breakfast included...For baht you can get better food in restaurants.

Location, right in the heart of the Khao San Road. Close to the action.
Noisy of a night time as bars do not shut until late.
The Buddy Lodge Hotel was a great hotel right in the heart of the Khao San Road. On your doorstep are fabulous shops & a plethora of market stalls & food-sellers dishing up yummy Pad Thai & Spring Rolls as you shop. The hotel has a beautiful pool situated on the top floor, it has a little bar of it's own & it's layour is very pretty. A lovely suntrap for the entire afternoon. The rooms were very nice, but on the down side, we had asked for 3 beds.... & when we arrived there was a lovely double bed & then they wheeled in a pretty uncomfortable put-you-up bed, we were expecting a single bed already set up. But despite this we had a wonderful stay & it was a perfect place for exactly what we needed.
Shopping Tip : Buy a little wooden frog from one of the street-sellers, they sound so authentic & they are lovely as a gift or a keepsake.

The Hotel is extemely well located , for those looking for " actions". It is in the center of Kao San. Yet , the hotel is not really noisy
Food was acceptable and service was pretty good.
Hotel is not new and not extremely clean
We are a family of 4 peoples , 2 adults and 2 teen agers.
We had 2 rooms , comfortable enough to spend some time in the room. Mattress are hard . Complementary hygienic products are basic.
The hotel is pretty old and cleaniness is not excellent
Despite the small size of the hotel ,there is pratically everything : a swimming pool , fitness center and a bar . For the young ones of you there is also a dancing club right next to the hotel
It is very well located. Downstairs , you will find some fast food , coffee shops . It is in the center of Kao San road and yet not too noisy. Rooms are not on the road side.
Service was very polite and helpful.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : King Palace is very close , 10-15 mn walking

some rooms near the khaoshan road a little bit noise
The room decoration is quite good, some lighting is very special, I really like it all.
And The Location is very very good. There have many many traditional shops with very very good price for you to shopping and also have many mnay resturants.
But some rooms near the khaoshan road a little bit noise.
Anyway it is a good choice to stay in Bangkok city

buddy hotels and lodges tend to be consistently well cared for, booked because of name, reputation and fair pricing. Breakfast was good.Had a nice irish singer entertainment. Did offer 30 minute free massage at in hotel spa, which we did not have time to use during our stay.
We asked for two standard rooms and were given two twins, when renegotiating the rooms, had to pay for deluxe upgrade which was no better than standard room in order to have a large bed. all rooms were noisy as the district now caters to young people and more bars and bands than before. Noise did not end until 2 am. found cockroaches and hotel did not seem bothered. Found leaky pipes in bathroom and hotel did not seem bothered. They did not make efforts to apologize or accept responsibility for booking errors or room problems instead blaming agoda. Room keys did not work consistently, had to return several times to rekey. Restaurant was part of an Irish pub, so noisy and not suitable for family.
I would recommend this lodging to young travelers who are looking to be in a part of bangkok that is easy to access for tourist shopping, food vendors, and nightlife. I would not recommend this for older travelers as stairs are difficult for luggage and not avoidable. I would not recommend for families because of the change in environment both district and restaurant and service staff not family friendly. the pool was not easy to access each time we tried it was closed or in use privately. If you want to be in the shopping district there is no better place and the suit tailor next door is very honest and reliable.
Shopping Tip : shop here first for t shirts and baggy pants and skirts, selection is no better elsewhere and you can negotiate prices, prices are always inflated by vendors expecting you to bargain. If you see something you like buy it, finding a better price for exactly the same thing is possible but not likely unless you have lots of time or insider information.

Close to the action on Khao San Road.
Comfy, clean and safe.
I have stayed at this hotel many times and it never lets down. The pool is well managed and clean. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The hotel is close to all the night life of Khao San Road but is still quiet enough to sleep. I do feel that the rooms are a bit pricey but this has never stopped me staying here...and i will be staying there again.
