Diamond City Hotel, Bangkok

When we first entered the hotel, the lobby was dark except for the reception area, the floormat in front of the only lift there was a towel taped to the floor. The room they prepared for us was scheduled for carpet cleaning and while telling us to wait for another room to be prepared, the service staff was chatting with the other staff while we stood carrying our very heavy luggages waiting for him. The corridor leading to the room is not air-conditioned and unlit, making it musty, dark and hot with creepy old furniture lining the sides. The condition of the room was not much better and the air-con took more than half-an-hour to cool down the room. There was no toothbrush provided and when we enquired about it, we were told that we had to request for things instead of them being provided. And even though they said they will have toothbrushes brought to our room, it never appeared and we ended up purchasing toothbrushes from the nearby 7-11. The wardrobe was tiny and their version of cable tv has only 7 channels with half of them in Thai. When we informed the reception the water heater doesn't seem to be working, the same service staff from before told us they were already aware of it. We then requested for a change of room and the request was met with further questions about when we were checking out before they agreed to change the room for us. In the second room, the controller for the air-con was not working and the fridge was leaking. Breakfast was poor and lacking in variety, the eggs were green!

we stayded for 2 nights which enabled us to get a discount price that is almost half the price compared to other hotels we were looking at. Hotel is nice and comfortable, staff were extremely friendly and the receptionist spoke gd english. Despite being really near MBK city area it is located in a small alley way in from the main road and most taxi drivers have no idea where it is. We ended up telling our drivers to go to Asia hotel and directed them from there. Overall it was value for money but not for those who mind walking out 10min to main road everytime u go out.

The hotel was the worst hotel I ever stayed in, there is no chance I will go back there. We arrived to the hotel, and got a standard room, although we ordered a superior. When I booked the hotel I specifically asked for a non-smoking room with a window. The room I got had no window and a heavy odour of smoke and mold, even the sheets were smelly. The furniture were partly broken, we had only one night lamp, so either I could read or my husband. THe water flow in the bathroom was very weak. The room was nothing like what I saw in the website when I booked the hotel. We asked the receptionist to replace the room, but since there were no vacancies, we had to spend one night in the room and got a new room only in the day after. The new room we got was a superior, which was a little bit better, since it had a window, but still had odour of smoke and mold. After spending all day in Bangkok we returned to the room at around 1:00 am, and we found out that there are no hot water in the room, and there is no way to fix it. We stayed 2 more nights and the problem with the water wasn't fixed, so we had to take a bath with cold water. To summarize the above, I will never go back to this hotel, and I don't recommend no-one to book it.
