The tower building is new and recommend to stay. The hotel is in the business area specially for garments and computers.
Hotel staffs not so friendly, very few staffs with a smile, lobby sitting area looks always full with the people, I feel this hotel is being heavily and cheaply marketed in India.
The hotels new tower building rooms are good to stay with good toilet and accessories/amenities. One of the restaurants says open for 24hrs but after midnight staffs are not happy to serve. Please stay away from the old building which is cheaper and not even cleaning properly and really very old with old carpet and walls. They market it cheaper than new tower building, but still can not recommend.
Shopping Tip : Especially garments and related ladies and gents items and computer items are just next to the hotel. But after 9pm, no where to go as all area sleeps.

I stay at First Hotel from 2nd August to 5th August 2008. First night stay feel something bit and I though it is mosquito or insects . 2nd night stay cant sleep at all and the the next day wake up whole body been bitten and blood coming out.
Complaint to housekeeping and change the entire bed and cover. But it happen same on the next morning. Complaint again to front desk office and they just said will let housekeeping know. Nothing action take and no better offer or other reward to customer.

Staff not very supportive
very crowded Hotel, even now in low season. Staff not like I know from Thailand. Room small and bathroom not worth to call bathroom. If you want to have a shower in the bathtube, you have to climb over the closet. Breakfast boring and more for the taste of Asian guests. Tourguide in front of the Hotel was very unpleasant. Location is good near IT-Center and Pratunam.

Good location, central to most tourist attractions.
Very open lobby area with friendly, helpful staff.
They remember customers from previous visits - is like having a second home
Somewhat pricey - much more expensive than when I was last there 2.5 years ago
The First Hotel in Bkk is the hotel I usually use when I visit Bkk. It is fairly modern in a relatively central location, close to most of the tourist attractions or is easy to get public transport from there. The rooms are large, clean and quiet. The staff always appear to be friendly, cheerful and where possible helpful with information. I have stayed there many times and it is nice to see staff remember you like a friend as well as a paying guest. The food is plentiful, well prepared and good choice.
Hotel Feature Tip : The laundry service is excellant and always comes back clean, ironed and fresh smelling - and is fairly reasonably priced

I have stayed at the First Hotel in the past. It used to be very seedy. Now the refurbished executive rooms in the tower wing were good, but the whole effect and expense of this were ruined by the cheap approach to having no proper cable tv and a rip-off wifi internet service. The hotel has a good location close to lots of clothes shopping and the huge IT centre. I often visit Bangkok, mostly alone, so because of the poor cable and wifi I doubt if I would again stay at this hotel.
Shopping Tip : Go to the nearby Baiyoke Hotel shopping area if you are looking for good quality, very cheap clothes. There's a huge selection there.

Location is good...its a busy hotel close to the sky train and good shopping areas.
Bathrooms need work-it is a well used hotel. Staff other than reception have limited English.
This is a good budget hotel for a short stay in Bangkok...it is close to transport and airport expressway. The area around the hotel has good shopping and its proximity to Pantip Plaza and World Qquare make it a great place for a short stay. Breakfast is adequate and the hotel has a constant buzz of tourist around the public spaces.
Restaurant Tip : There are lots of good cheap eateries around this area.

Maids forgot to vacumn the floors a couple of times - not a big deal.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Watch out for the "Tuk-tuks". They will try to get as much out of you as you allow them to. Best to take meter-taxis.

Restaurant Tip : Never go to Malika , or seafood restaurant. The food is expensive and not nice. The tour guide and taxi driver said it's cheap and nice, but I don't think it's worth the money. Go to "Cabbages & Condoms" instead. Cozy environment with reasonable price food.

bathroom a little shabby but clean
we stayed in the old section of the hotel and the bathrooms are a little shabby but for an extra 15 odd dollars a night you can stay in the newer section and im sure they be good. for the money the old sections great always clean, the staff are very polite and speak english. weve stayed here three times and will again next time were in town. This hotel is near everything markets shopping centers train station . Chatachuk markets are a short distance by taxi or train. This hotel has two restaurants one halal and the breakfast also has a choice of halal.
Travel tip : If you go to chatachuk markets youll need both sat and sun its huge get a map at the start of your day and cross off the areas youve visited
