One of Mandarin Oriental's flagship properties: Mandarin Oriental Hotel, has been a favorite of the elite since 1876. In 2006, the grand dame of the Chao Phraya River underwent a face-lift. The new spa is known as one of the best in the world and the facilities have been updated to include: a large gym, tennis, squash, and two outdoor swimming pools. All of the 393 fresh rooms are assigned with personal butlers. Visitors should not miss high-tea in the Author’s Wing, a meal at one of the eight famous restaurants, taking a class in Thai cooking/culture, or watching the sunset from the Veranda. Wireless internet, business center, meeting rooms, secretarial and concierge services, make for an efficient as well as luxurious experience. A proprietary boat shuttles patrons 5-mins to the sky train as well as sights along the river. A stay at the opulent Mandarin Oriental never disappoints, and has you wanting to come back.
Children and extra beds:Guests over 11 years old are considered as adults. Extra beds are dependent on the room you choose, please check the individual room policy for more details.

Wonderful experience, fantastic stay
Wonderful room, excellent breakfast, staff very friendly
9.7
My stay at the Mandarin Oriental was fantastic, everything was outstanding. Very attentive staff everywhere. The breakfast was outstanding, dinner at the Thai Restaurant taking the boat to get across the river wonderful and the food outstanding. Great river view from the room on 8th floor. I celebrated my birthday and the staff couldn't have done more to make it a great occasion.

Classic river gem with old world charm
Service, access to river and close to BTS
9
The Oriental is a classic old world river hotel. While some may say the place is a bit tired with older elevators, rooms and style that hasn't really changed for decades, it's probably still worth it. The thing that makes the Oriental special is the life that passes through. The hotel still has people sitting for tea, eating in the well-known restaurants, enjoying Jazz in the Bambu room, or just hanging out in the lobby. The service is best in class, and you will feel at home and have every need attended to. It is easy to access the Skytrain (BTS) at Saphan Taksin and also pick up a boat from the dock anywhere. The spa across the river is indulgent if you don't care about the price tag. If you want to be on the city side of the river in a classic best in class luxury, and still feel like you are in the scene of a 1960s movie, you can't really replace the Oriental. There are newer over the top hotels that are most beautiful, more extravagent, but none with the same activity that you find at the Oriental. If you want privacy and exclusivity, then there are other options better. But, i do love this hotel and there is something truly Bangkok about it. This is the only top end hotel at the river that can work if you need to go into central.

Food, drink and entertainment
The China House Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok’s The China House Restaurant has represented the pinnacle of Cantonese fine dining in Thailand since 1990. Inspired by the vibrant 1930’s Shanghai Art Deco period, the two storey colonial building has been transformed into an avant-garde culinary destination, reminiscent of old world opulence.
The Bamboo Bar This bar is an icon in the Bangkok music scene and is renowned for its live jazz repertoire, and internationally acclaimed singers who have performed throughout the years. The interior invokes the African safari, while the signature cocktails “Oriental Mai Tai” and “Thaijito” alludes to the aura of sophistication that makes this bar a legend in its own right.
The Oriental Spa Good health and beauty through meditation, massage and use of natural herbal remedies is a time-honoured quest in Thailand. Voted the “Best in the World” by Travel & Leisure magazine, The Oriental Spa is the first hotel spa in Bangkok, pioneering holistic therapy and wellness philosophy.
Sala Rim Naam A choice of two dining experiences with its own programme of entertainment. Located on the opposite bank of the Chao Phraya River, Sala Rim Naam offers a wide selection of Thai cuisine that will attract foreigners and locals alike. Guests have the opportunity to enjoy a buffet lunch or a special set Thai dinner, or choose to dine al fresco at the Terrace Rim Naam which boasts an exotic a la carte menu every evening. Housed in a richly decorated Thai pavilion that is reminiscent of Northern Thai architecture, the restaurant is also the setting for one of the Kingdom’s unique cultural experiences—classical Thai dancing performed each night.
Lord Jim's The superlative menu at this seafood restaurant attracts diners from far and wide. Named after the seafaring hero created by the novelist Joseph Conrad, Lord Jim’s reputation for magnificent seafood is almost as well-travelled as its namesake. It is renowned worldwide, particularly for its sushi and sashimi dishes that are often to be seen in our buffet lunches and a la carte dinner menu. The restaurant concept focuses not only on the freshness and vastness of the sea which is reflected in the variety of exciting seafood dishes, but also on the aquatic themes which are prominent in the sophisticated and stylish décor. Open daily for buffet lunch and à la carte dinner.
Le Normandie One of Asia's most renowned French restaurants, where some of France's most highly trained master chefs practise the cream of culinary arts on a regular basis. Connoisseurs from all over South-East Asia travel to Le Normandie for its legendary haute cuisine and exceptional wine cellar, impeccable service, and elegant ambience. Situated in the Garden Wing of Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok, the à la carte French menu specialises in exemplary seafood and meat dishes. There is also an exquisite set menu that is served both at lunch and dinner time. The great and the good of Thai society are often seen dining here – from celebrities and politicians to the Thai Royal Family. Gentlemen are asked to wear a dinner jacket.
Ciao Perfectly nestled alongside the gardens of the Author’s Lounge and the Chao Phraya River, this restaurant has the finest Italian fare including the tastiest pizzas baked in our own wood-fired oven, and a selection of home-made pastas. Every dish is enjoyed against the breathtaking backdrop of the starlit river and evening sky.
The Authors' Lounge
The Authors' Lounge is located in the original part of Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok, known as the Authors' Wing. The name “Authors’ Lounge” evolved from the many famous writers who stepped through the doors of Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok over the years, from Joseph Conrad to Barbara Cartland.
Together with the entire wing, the Authors’ Lounge was recently renovated to its former glory. Delicate, white-washed rattan furniture with hand-painted upholstery and Siamese umbrellas now grace the lounge amid towering bamboo and palm trees.
The Riverside Terrace The Riverside Terrace has always been legendary and its most recent enhancements now make it a quintessential experience for guests who love a good Barbecue overlooking the majestic River of Kings. A most perfect location for dinner accompanied by the sights and sounds of the Chao Phraya River, the Barbecue Terrace has undergone an extensive renovation both in design and menu concept and assures an unparalleled dining experience accompanied by a live band every night. In addition to the classic favourites, other highlights include Lebanese mezze and Kebabs, Indian Tandoori Ovens, Japanese Teppanyaki, Sushi Counter, fresh bread station by order, and Open Fire Rotisserie, Tandoori, daily lamb and turkey shawarma, Tepan triple pork chops on the bone, steamed tiger shrimp, chargrilled BBQ lamb and blue river lobsters. The dessert station has also been enhanced for those with a sweet tooth to include a variety of fresh desserts including a flambe table with Crepe Suzette, Cherries Jubilee as well as peach and banana flambé.
