A special treat
Warmth, courtesy and discreetness of staff.
Comfort of room.
Good boat service, food and ambience at restaurant across the river
9.7
Don't stay in the Mandarin if you are worried about spending, because you know before you arrive the prices are high. But so are expectations! After an exhausting tour around Indochina, the Mandarin was our choice for a luxurious weekend before travelling back home to Italy. And the hotel really did live up to its reputation.
Shopping Tip:
The tailor's shop near the tea room makes very good quality clothes. Again not cheap, but the type that are wearable when you get home.

a dream come true in oriental hotel
-High quality
- Superb views especially at night
-Excellent staff
10
when i visited bangkok 6 years ago i saw oriental and i promised myself to stay here next time . so i did it with my husband atıf . i like people and places with a past. so thi shotel has got it with excellnt service also. we have neraly eaten every night at the hotels verandah . it has a superb setting near chao phraya , peninsula hotel is just across the river. our room had a view of the river . at nights we closed the lights and inhaled he fantastic view of he city from our room also. the hotel is near the boat stops and sky train. so you can visit the city with any transport you like. ıf you stay in this hotel you would never forget bangkok!
Restaurant Tip:
At lunch time just try hotels Thia restaurant across the river ( they carry you). YOU CAN TASTE ALL Thai dishes for a very reasonable price with high quality.
- Also instead of tkaing the hotels boat to have a boat trip along the river just walk outside turn right there will be the public boat stop. Negoatiate with a boatman and you will save money.
On Verandah rataurant dont forget to select This specialites platter. Its enough for 2! Also try their desert ;the waterchestnusts in coconut milk with lokchub!

A classy Oriental dame....
Breakfast on the riverside was good. Pool was nice. Room was nice. Staff were pleasant enough, complimentary yoga was good. Feeding the fish with enough fresh bread to feed a slum was fun. Superfast room maintenance was excellent.
8.7
A once in a while experience, everything is just one grade above what you experience in the other Bangkok 5* establishments. Staff speak better English and show a more genuine interest in the happiness of the visitors. The French restaurant is excellent with very good service. The Thai restaurant with the attendant dance show and fixed menu was a little disappointing although there was a broad range of Thai dishes. Nice touch was that the room was made up on checkout day while we were at breakfast which makes the last morning and packing much more pleasant. The high quality TV and excellent sound system was great, as was the selection of CD recordings in the room.
Restaurant Tip:
The degustation menu in Le Normandie is excellent and make sure you have the optional wine selection with the meal, don't worry there will be too much wine, you only get a very moderate amount with each dish. The wine selection for this meal was probably the highlight of my trip dining experience.

The ideal home away from home
personal attention, absolute friendliness, caring and efficiency
10
After our visit to the Mandarin Oriental 2 years ago I wrote the following review. Now we were there for a week and found that although the management had changed everything else had remained just as convincing and charming as ever:
The claim to "make you feel at home" does not quite describe the Oriental’s main feature. What they actually do achieve is this: They give you a feeling of what the ideal home could be like. The personal care and appreciation one receives in the Oriental not just as a guest but as an individual is second to none.
I can‘t think of any cons, except that people who are not sensitive to friendliness and personal attention should avoid the hotel. The following incident illustrates what I mean: Upon arrival at the Oriental, guests are greeted by welcoming personnell and presented a flower chain. One day I observed a man climbing out of the taxi, pushing the welcoming girl aside and slapping her hand as she attempted to give him the flower chain.
There are many luxury hotels in the world and quite a few in Bangkok. Some might even be more luxurious with respect to interior decoration, furnishings, room facilities etc. than the Oriental. True luxury, however, does not come in the form of flat screen television sets, in-room whirlpools and the like (the rooms in the Oriental, by the way, are equipped with everything the discriminating traveller needs and designed in good taste and style) but is provided by caring and efficient personal attention. In the Oriental, your wishes are being fulfilled almost before you even know that you had them.
Of course, part of the charme and spirit of the place lies in its history, but the secret of making you feel so extremely comfortable is the degree of friendliness and efficiency of the entire staff and the fact that you enjoy it not as an anonymous guest but as an appreciated individual with a name and a personal identity.

Mandarin Oriental Hotel
Location on Chao Phraya River,
Excellent service,
History of the property,
Junk boat shuttle
8
This is a great hotel. The service received by my wife and I was just superb. Lots of great little touches- fragrant flower bracelet chains on arrival, fresh fruit every day (and different), morning papers in internal hutch, and so forth. A great experience. If I have to be critical, I would have to say the Thai food at the Verandah was just ordinary. However, to eat here at night was just magical as were the cocktails at the bar. Also I was surprised that on leaving the bellboy was negotiating a higher non-meter price with the taxi- the taxi driver was disappointed that I insisted on having the meter on. Despite that, all in all a great stay!
Travel tip:
Make sure to take the hotel junkboat shuttle

Unbeatable sevice and warmth
The warmth of the welcome and the gracious service laced with true caring melts the heart. Everyone jumps to help and solve every problem one encounters.
10
The warmth and graciousness of the welcome at the airport is the begining of a restful, luxurious break at this beautiful hotel. Every need is anticipated and tended to. Even unexpected medical emergencies were handled with the utmost care and efficiency. The staff never wavered in their patience and caring in making sure everyone involved was kept in touch and catered to. The patient got prompt medical care, the spouse support keeping in touch with the hospital and ongoing friends the update on the situation. In another emergency with a passport issue, the staff at the airport booked another flight and wisked the clients to the embassy to fix the passport problem right away. They were able to catch the flight the next day to carry on with their onward Asian tour.
The Oriental has won the loyalty of all its clients with service that goes above the call of duty.

Our third stay in four years. The oriental is unique. The moment we walk in to the beautifully scented foyer we know we are in our bangkok home.each guest has a floor butler and the standard of room attention is the best we have experienced worldwide.for the first time we checked out the other nearby hotels along the river and agreed the oriental is special.many staff members are approaching their third decade of service.lovely pool with an intimate feel, just like the rest of this fine hotel
Hotel Feature Tip:
Hotel boat will take you to sky train and other requests along the " river of kings "

Mandarin Oriental Bangkok
Beautiful appointments, very comfortable bed, superb service and excellent food
9.3
The hotel is world-famous and deservedly so. It is superb in every respect and unlike most five star hotels, it is absolutely worth this price. The services provided were highly professional and the staff were both friendly and competent. The hotel is furnished beautifully and the physical facilities are first-rate. The food in the restaurants is excellent. Staying there is truly a delight.
Hotel Feature Tip:
The hotel's location is away from Bangkok's current business district and is located at the end of a small side street. Even though it is famous, several taxi drivers had no idea how to find it. A guest should obtain a card from the hotel with the address, preferably written in Thai, to show to any driver.

Cleaness Attitude of Employee
9.7
My wife and I stayed x2 nights for the first time and soon we both liked it. Clean and confortable linens, beautiful River side scenary from the window, Quite nice restaurants made us funs of this good hotel. Would like to revisit there again.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Better to take BTS from Saphaan Takshin for inside BKK city transportation. Taxi just takes too much time. From Skhunvit to hotel took 1 hour 20 min in the afternoon on week day.

Gracious Introduction to Thailand
Service, beauty and location.
10
This was the first trip to Thailand for my daughter and I. The history and allure of The Oriental had appealed to me for a long time. We felt so genuinely welcome. The room, service and beauty were stunning. The meals were great and the location on the river was wonderful. We hope to return. The only drawback may be that it was a shame to leave the property.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
The city tour to the temples from the taxi at the airport was a good buy.
