Luxurious to the extreme, personnel couldnt be faulted

wrong side of the river

This hotel was luxury to the extreme. The staff were very courteous and respectful. The food was very good, and the chefs when confronted with an eating problem, did the upmost to assist. The downside was that whilst the hotel was on the river, to get to the river taxi pier, you had to pay for a taxicab to get you there, because the hotel was situated on the wrong side of the river.

The staff were excellent and helpful, check in was most civilised, we completed the check in procedure while sipping a cool drink in a comfortable armchair. Room (18th floor) was excellent, spacious and had a nice view of the river. Great prices in the hotel shops.

Location was a bit away from the sights though a limited shuttle was provided to shopping and the other Montien downtown

When we arrived we were greeted personally, seated comfortably with a cool drink then escorted to our room all within a relatively short time. The staff were always friendly and helpful and there was a selection of restaurants (priced a north American levels). The hotel is well located on the river and offers riverboat dining, but only if enough people have booked for a particular night. The riverside location is good but the hotel is not well located for walking anywhere, you need a taxi (taxis were cheap) to go most places. We used the main restaurant and room service during our two night stay and we were happy with both experiences. Try the shops on the lower level, prices were very reasonable and at least as inexpensive as the tourist markets.

Shopping Tip : The shops in the lower level were relatively inexpensive

Good breakfast, impressive reception area

away from . . . everywhere! Rooms just average

Agoda reviewers usually get it right and I have relied on posts in the past with few problems. However . . The Hotel is practically situated in the middle of nowhere and the river view is just that - a view of an empty river! The famous Bkk hustle and bustle is quite a distance upstream. The rooms, though clean, are bland and lifeless. This all adds up to disappointment all round. The Hotel is quiet so we slept well and the breakfast is very good with a wide choice of foods. The Thai staff that were on duty were dozy, badly trained and forgetful. Very low marks for that!! Watery smiles do NOT make up for incompetence. I hope i don't sound too angry!

Excellent 5 star facilites

Distance from the centre of the city but cheap taxis are always available.

This excellent hotel is all you would expect from a 5 star hotel. The rooms are excellent as are the staff and restaurants. The facilities are just first class and an ideal place to relax.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Take the free shuttle bus to the ferry terminal. Get a tourist ticket up river to the Grand Palace and try and get a guide to show you around - it is awesome

It's a 5 star hotel with everything you would expect.

ONLY if you wish to be close to the hectic city then this is not the place for you. That said, the hotel runs free shuttle buses to the city centre and the ferry terminal for trips on the river.

Everything about this hotel is pure 5 star. A wonderful place to relax just outside the hustle and bustle of Bangkok city. The staff and food are first class as are the rooms.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Take the free hotel shuttle bus to the river, purchase a tourist river ticket for 120 baht and travel to the Grand Palace (stop 8). Entry to the Palace is 350 baht and try and get a registered tour guide to show you around.

lovely view from 24th floor, nice restaurant

far away from the center

as regular business travellers to Bangkok, we don't recommend this hotel. It is a huge , not nice looking building. Garden around is nice.As a plus side :we were upgraded for the room in the 24Th floor with a lovely river view. The hotel is far away from the center. We spent daily 1 to 1 and half hour in taxi (oneway) to get to the center.

A beautiful hotel on the river with great food, service and rooms at very reasonable rates.

The location is a quite aways away from most places that you will be going to.

The hotel had excellent rooms, service, staff and food. The breakfast buffet is suprisingly good with a lot of choices too. The rates are also very reasonable for a hotel of this caliber. The location is somewhat out of the way when travelling around Bangkok to view the sights and attractions. We were upgraded to a better room upon check in. This hotel should be used for stays in Bangkok when a lot of sight seeing will not be a priority. You are not charged extra for those over night guests either.

The rooms were wonderful, room service excellent, breakfast buffet outstanding and staff very helpful.

The Riverside is away from the central area; however that could also be considered an advantage....

The hotel lived up to its five star rating with excellent service. From the ease of check-in/out, handy advice on getting around by the Bell Captain and the shuttle bus between Montien hotels, the stay was very comfortable. The Wireless Internet service worked without fuss and the business centre were very helpful. The buffet breakfast was comprehensive, covering all tastes and the excellent quality of food delivered for room service showed the Riverside was an excellent choice.

Hotel Feature Tip : Use the free shuttle bus provided between the Riverside and the downtown hotel and shopping centre.

Beautiful up to date rooms, excellent condition, lovely river views, great pool, great buffet breakfast, staff is very helpful, shuttle bus to the Montien Bangkok is a plus also. The location of the hotel is a little out of the shopping and restaurant areas for walking to so the shuttle bus is a very good idea. We felt like we had a hotel vacation and with the shuttle could go out to a busier district when we wanted to.

Didn't see anything that needed improving except it would have been nice to have either HBO or Star movies and CNN or BBC. We didn't happen to see a pay for view movie we would have ordered and not at the price they charged for a pay for view movie.

We stayed at the hotel on two separate occasions while in Bangkok and had a lovely room on the 9th floor and the 14th floor with views up the river. The staff were very helpful and efficient, the rooms modern, luxurious and up to date. We booked our room through Agoda at a discounted rate which made it affordable for us. We would not have been able to stay at the normal rate. The buffet breakfast was excellent with a wide variety of items and good service again. The lobby and gardens are beautiful. One can relax away from the hustle and bustle at the hotel or take the complimentary shuttle to the Montien Bangkok which is close to the night market, shopping and restaurants. If you want to be able to walk to things such as the Oriental shopping district this is a little out of the way but the shuttle goes all day so this was not a negative. We also thoroughly enjoyed the clean, big pool in the sun. Great place. I would go back and would recommend it to others.

Hotel Feature Tip : The hotel shuttle was convenient and easy to use.

the hotel is facing directly the river, it has got a nice lobby and a very nice restaurant, we liked very much the calm atmosphere, big rooms, nice pool.

a little bit too far from the historical sites.

This is a very nice hotel with big rooms overlooking the river. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The breakfast is very big and fresh. The restaurant in the base is really good. The garden area is beautifully arranged. The pool area is clean an calm and surrounded by plants. The hotel staff is nice and very polite, the English is OK.

The staff was wonderful.

One cockroach in room (but understandable in such a climate).

I spent 2 weeks in Bangkok and the surrounding areas and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Montien Riverside. It was very quiet and relaxing but the downtown activity was easily accessible with the hotel's regular shuttle service. The staff was great, the hotel was clean and the buffet breakfast was delicious, however, after a few days more variety in their menu would have been much appreciated. The New Year's celebration feast was spectacular and the live entertainment was definitely entertaining. In general, our stay was thoroughly enjoyable and I would recommend this hotel if you don't mind being a little out of the main hustle and bustle of the city.

Shopping Tip : The supermarket within a five minute walk had lots of prepared meals for those lazy days and the fresh fruit was incredibly cheap and delicious.

Outstanding hospitality and service, good food and great buffet breakfast, nice rooms with river views, great pool and gym

Some people may not find tho location convenient. If you are looking for a boutique hotel or extravagant luxury, again you might be disappointed.

This hotel is a little removed from the center of the action, even though it is in the old city and on the river. However, a quick taxi ride for 50 Baht will get you to the first stop on the water taxi which you will take you up and down the river (a great way to see the old city). Also, a free shuttle from the hotel will connect you to the metro station- a little far, but not too bothersome. If this does not bother you (and did not bother us at all), this is an excellent choice for the price and facilities provided. The staff is very courteous and helpful, rooms are very good with river views, the have a very nice long pool with attached gym (tennis and ping pong too), good restaurants (excellent free buffet breakfast), and a spa. We left an expensive phone in the room, and the manager sent us an email and we were able to retrieve the phone from them.
