the best feature of the hotel is the atmosphere in the cafeteria. its great!
the thing that i disliked is the bad smell when you stay outdoor in the cafeteria because the river is right beside the cafeteria and you can really smell the bad odor
overall, the hotel was good. it is worth the money you paid for.

Clean, good position, great breakfast, good staff.
The only thing was the shower had a broken nozzel so the water went everywhere and the hot water is more tepid.
Just had 9 days at the New World City Hotel. I liked the fact it is very clean with spacious rooms. Air cond. Tele. The deluxe room you get tea and coffee. Hair dryers, dressing gowns. You have your own private balcony to sit out on. Close enough to walk to Koh sarn Road. Little restaurants out the back where you can get cheap meals.
The breakfast is worth having as it sets you up for the day and you don't really need lunch.
Ranges from hot thai food noodles, rice etc. To pancakes, toast, fried spuds, tomatoes, etc and there is a lady that cooks up your eggs to your choice. Like omelets.
Lots for fresh fruit, salad and youghurt. So its good.
The staff are friendly down stairs, if you want a taxi they get one for you in minutes. They arrange tours and things but i didnt do them.
The only fault which wasn't that bad was the bathroom shower nozzle was broken so it sprayed everywhere and the water wasn't that hot.
But i would stay there again.

This a good and friendly hotel ,close to Kason markets ,Good service .And close to Palace district.
Off the main strip , A bit old ,and if you order a room with single beds , dont leap out of bed , as you will end up on the floor as the room is tiled .
I was only useing the hotel as an overninht stay ,for three seperate nights , but i found that staff remembered me. Which was nice experience. The breakfast was well presented , and sufficent to start the day .Be careful of the cabs nearby as they may not be metered .Order at the front door for best results
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : It is an easy walk to the Kason markets.

the room is clean and quite comfortable. Staff friendly and helpfull although sometimes not too fluent in English. Aside from the new hotel building under construction, the place is really good located especially if you like to absorb daily life the old part of Bangkok. Although not in the main road taxi drivers have no difficulty to locate it as it is very near the famous Kaosan Road, which every taxi driver must know, and with a little help from you once you have been there. Our taxi driver from the airport had no difficulty to locate it even when it was already dark and raining on our first day. The fare from the airport right to the hotel is around 400 baht according to the meter plus 50 baht for the taxi airport fee. Take a metered public taxi at the entrance of the airport, unless you can afford to hire a limo taxi inside the airport. The public taxi is well organized and hassle free.
The hotel also has a tour office in the lobby attended by very helpful people, who are very helpfull when you need to go around on your own.
Another plus is taht the hotel is very near bus stops, canal boat pier, not to say about taxis, any time of the day.
The canal beside the hotel is not recommendable as it looks very muddy and the houses lining it are already old houses.
As long as the new hotel building it not yet finished, the first sight that greet you is not so very impressive, hope that it will be grand when the new builing starts operation, the earliest at the end of 2009.
Recommendable for those on a budget, firts time visitor to Bangkok, as it is near everything you need, transport, food, exchange, souvenirs and seeing and feeling what is meant by Bangkok being a tourist heaven.
Be aware of tuktuk organized swindle where you are lured into taking a ride by tuk-tuk to several places of interest at a very cheap price but actually ending up in wasting your time going round places which are not so attractive as they say, or buying things from places where they take you to shop, usually jewelry, wheter fake or real I do not know, as I did not bought anything they offered.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Not to far from all famous places in the old part of Bangkok, and easily accessible by any means of transport, excluding MRT and Skytrain.

None any that I can think of
The bathroom was the worst bathroom I have ever encountered in all my travels. The room had horrible marley tiles on the floor and the lock on the door always got stuck. Very dark alleys to walk along to Khao San Street and I was very uncomfortable having to walk dark alleys.
In all my travels this was my worst experience. Breakfast wasw horrible - the bathroom was an absolute nightmare and the hotel is not at all in a area where walking in the evening to KhoaSan Road is easy to do as the lanes you walk down are very dark and isolated and I did not feel safe at all. I would not recomend this hotel as the breakfast was horrible and the bathroom was a disaster - not matter what the cost I cannot believe a hotel could have bathrooms like this one!
Nightlife Tip : Do not book with this hotel

A budget hotel that slightly above its class
What more to ask, this is not a luxury hotel
For the price, if to compare around Khao San not to mention the hustling Bangkok I would say no complain. Cheap and lovely food beside hotel and a walking distance to main road.
Nightlife Tip : Must try local food, start form the road side down your hotel.

construction site right under the windows, too much noise
Hotel was quite ok considering it is two blocks from Khaosan Road, I mean cheap. But don't expect anything extra. If you are not staying in BKK for too long or don't have extremely high expectations, then it's for you. There is a travel agency in the hotel and you can get quite good price for the tours.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Close to Khaosan road and the historic centre

Breakfast of course. Personnels quite friendly.
Internet chargeable. Air-cond very noisy.
Refering to room amenities, an electric jug shall do all necessary personnel needs such as make a cup of coffee or so. A complementary issue of instant coffee & tea bags are much added value to lure more customers beside 2 bottles of drinking water of which most hotels practice that too.
Having a hotel tut-tut service within 1 kilometer is an added point.Internet service shall be FOC. You can take public express bus service AE2 from airport direct to Koasan Road charge only 150 Bath per pax. Walking from Koasan to hotel takes ~15 min. Public bus service 44 charge only 8 Bath from Gland Palace to Koason Road. Take a Local Line Boat (No Flag) service at Chao Phraya River charge only 13 Bath for whole route one way. Public ferry cross over to Wat Arun charge only 3 Bath single way. Tour arrangement at Koasan Road to Floating Market with 1 hour river ride charge only 250 Bath. Don't take cheap tuk-tuk & river ride offer by stranger. Gland Palace entrance fee for Tourist is charge at 350 Bath per person, proper attire is compulsory.

near the Khao Sarn Road, where all the shops and restaurants are all around
quite noisy, especially if you are a light sleeper. the noise came from the construction sites near the hotel area.
We stayed in this hotel for 3 days and 2 nights. We prefered a king-size bed and non smoking room, and we got what we have wished for. Overall, we satisfy with the hotel's performance. The breakfast was good, lots of choices, and it is very close to the Khao Sarn Road. You can walk along the Khao Sarn Road and you will find the shopping and dining paradise. It is only 5 minutes walking distance.
Restaurant Tip : Try to eat at KFC during the breakfast time and try the fabulous fried rice!

clean room, air con, in room safe, private bathroom and fridge all in room. very close to Khao San Rd. but quiet enough for a good night's sleep
Internet is too expensive in hotel much cheaper on Khao San. Food is also expensive here, try Rambrutti instead.
Very Good location for hotel especially for first time visitors as it is a very high standard for the price. Staff are friendly and helpful especially when it comes to providing information on tours in the area and crossing borders to other countries. Would recommend this hotel to other travellers and we will stay here again when we return to Bangkok.
Restaurant Tip : Go to Rambrutti for good food at cheap prices, particularly Mango Lagoon Place.

Quiet compared to Khoa San Road! Very Friendly and helpful staff
Quite a few mosquitos by the canal
Room was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was great and all of the staff were very helpful and friendly. Great location with in easy walking distance of Khao San Road but still much quieter than the hotels on the road. Would definately return to this hotel on returning to Bangkok.
Nightlife Tip : Hotel does not serve beer but there is a great little bar with a very helpful owner across the road for a quiet drink

The friendly and helpful staff, the proximity to Kho San Road, the price
the amount of building work surrounding the hotel, the food and service in the restaurant was below average and overpriced.
This is the third time we have stayed here and each time the staff have been consistantly friendly and helpful. Except in the restaurant where the service was extremely slow, and the food was surprisingly poor considering the price. The area around the hotel is extremely noisy due to the amount of building work which can go on till late at night.
Travel tip : When you head to the main road near the bridge, across the road is a great internet place which is reasonably priced, is very proffessional, quick and run by a a lovely old lady.

clean, air conditioned, close to Khaosan Rd and easy distance to other attractions. The tour booking desk has the best deals.
internet is 3 times more expensive than other places.
Has little ambience. No te/coffe faciities in the room.
This hotel is quite a good standard for the price, the rooms are large and clean and the restaurant is reasonably priced, though you can find much cheaper places. Make your tour bookings with the hotel booking desk, as they offer the best prices, but go elswwhere for internet use. The hotel has very little to no ambience, but is clean and decent.
Hotel Feature Tip : Book and go see the Siam Niramit dinner + show.
Free Muay Thai performance on saturday night.
