1) proximity to the city 2) shuttle services 3) kitchen facility in the room 4) pool and gym 5) selection of food in breakfast 6) quiet environment 7) friendly staff 8) free internet connection

1) availability of local fruits in breakfast is very limited. 2) instructions on how to use the microwave oven is not readily available - so have to call up electrician to do this 3) no readily available iron and ironing board in the room - need to request this

The decision to have a family vacation last June 15 in the evening was made easier through the Oakwood Residence Hotel reservation via agoda even if vacation starts in the next 2 days (short notice for reservation). It was NOT a bad decision after all. All the amenities we expected in a regular hotel was exceeded. My son and wife even considered our hotel room comparable with our condominium home in Singapore. And this includes all the ammenities like kitchen and large refrigerator where we could stock some food (fruits) and drinks, plus the free access to internet. The living and dining rooms were exactly what we needed for the family to have bonding time (talking, listening and enjoying one another). Whiile we were not able to try the pool, the gym was sufficient for me to enrgize myself on the start of the day. Going to the city was quick and easy with thru the available shuttle service. Lastly, we leave behind good memoroes in the hotel that is worth telling other people. My wife recommended this to one of our friends who plan to visit Bangkok next week. In summary, it was a wonderful family vacation in a comfort like home.

Shopping Tip : Get hold of the free shuttle service to the neareast MRT / rail station. The malls in the city are linked to this rail system.

Great pool, play area for the kids, Starbucks across the road, friendly staff, good food.

abit far from everything, but nothing that can't be reached by a short taxi ride...

I love this hotel, it's especially great if you have small children, the pool is kid friendly, has a playground and staff are friendly. It's great value for money, so you can put the kids to sleep in the bedroom, and still have another room available to watch TV and hang out. People with kids will know what a nightmare it can be when you are all just in one room in a hotel... so this is one of the best benefits. We have stayed a number of times, and will continue to do so in the future...

Staff was helpful and efficent. Rooms are spacious and clean. It was nice basically having a full kitchen with all the accessories for cooking.

It seems to be getting a tad worn. Everything worked great, but I think will need a refurbishing in the near future. It's a bit far off the beaten path.

I would recommend this hotel to friends. The 1 BR is good value for the money compared to ordinary hotels which tend to be much smaller. Even though it is out of the normal central business district, Sukumvit Road areas, taxis and transport are plentiful.

Restaurant Tip : A nice, inexpensive, outdoor thai restuaraunt is located directly across the street. The food was great here.

Spacious rooms. Clean and bright. Friendly staff.

A bit too far from downtown but taxis are cheap.

We stayed here for 4 nights around New Year 2009. The hotel is in the middle of a residential area, so on the plus side it is quiet and safe. But on the negative side, there is not much within walking distance of the hotel. You have to catch a taxi to go anywhere. But taxis are cheap and a trip to downtown (Siam Paragon) costs about 100 Baht only max and takes about 30 minutes or more depending on traffic. A trip to Suan Lum Night bazaar is only about 70 baht and 20 minutes. This is an excellent place for families with young children. There is a good size pool and a nice shaded playground plus a play room. There were also a few other kids around and our children loved playing in the playground with other kids. One of us stayed at home with kids while the other parent went shopping and this worked out well for us. There are a few massage places across the hotel (the best I thought was inside the new housing complex - bellimi or something) which charged only about 200 Baht for an hour of Thai massage. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast is the same everyday of the week so it gets boring quickly. Overall, excellent choice if you don't mind being a bit far from shopping, etc and having to take taxis to everywhere.

Great pool for the family. Guest Rating: 9

Great value for money. Pool has plenty of shade for children. Love the having the suite with kitchenette. Good street food options right out front. Easy to get around. Friendly staff.

Pool was mostly shaded - coldish water because of this. Not a lot of variety for breakfast.

Shopping center nearby, nice pool and gym, hotel shuttle service to Tesco and BTS.

A bit off the beaten track, as you would need a taxi to go to Sukhumvit and other areas.

This location was recommended by a colleague of mine, staying here for the second time, I was made welcome by the staff almost like being part of their family. I found the staff very friendly and accommodating. Again I got a very nice modernly furnished room which has been well prepared. I again opted for a breakfast inclusive package and would recommend the fantastic food to everyone combined with a very attentive service. Excellent internet access facilities which are stable and provide access to high speed Internet via LAN and WiFi.

Hotel Feature Tip : Must try the garden bar on L4 at pool side and its nice and calm atmosphere.

Very very child friendly, with great pool, playground on the premises, (which is very good), and staff also are great with kids. Good sitting areas throughout the building for reading, meeting friends etc. Also has a fabulous gym with good equipment, spa and sauna. Food is very reasonably priced and always of good standard. Starbucks just across the road for a morning coffee.

It's alittle away from Silom/Surowongse area and Sukhumvit, but only about 10 minutes by taxi, so it's not really a problem. Hotel has a shuttle bus to the Rama III shopping centre, which has most things you need anyway.

I highly recommend this hotel, especially if you have young children and need to have that separate lounge/bedroom for them to have their morning/afternoon naps. The facilities for young children are excellent, there is really no need to have to leave the hotel every day! The pool is a great depth, so it allows for them to swim quite safely. The staff were great, and very accommodating, allowing for a late checkout and very helpful in terms of taxi's etc. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone. We stayed 10 days and definitely would go back.

Nice and big room, good maid service, calm environment.

Need more various TV channels.

Whenever I visit Thailand I always stay at Oakwood. I used to stay at Sukhumvit area before I found Oakwood on Narathiwat. Some people may think Narathiwat area is too calm for tourists. However people who don't want to be disturbed will enjoy Narathiwat area and Oakwood's kind service. By the way, Narathiwat is not really far from downtown. Very easy access to BTS and highway.

Restaurant Tip : You can meet local people and have delicious thai food. Food is clean and cheap. BBQ pork and chicken! I will never forget them.

Nice and quiet location, very friendly staff, shuttle service to TESCO Supermarket and BTS. Pool area, very peaceful, almost serene.

Need to travel 15 min to go to major shopping centres, bars & restaurants.

Great for families with young kids

Not much around the actual area of the hotel, will need to use taxis.

We love this hotel. Great hotel for families with young children. Pool, playcentre, friendly staff. Our kids really love the time here (3 year old and 1 year old). The buffett food for breakfast is great - and also the in-room food is also good value for money. Everything is a taxi ride away, although traffic is terrible. There is a starbucks across the road if you're up early with the kids and need that coffee to get you going. The pool is abit cold at times because it's shaded by palm trees, but still it's bearable. We stay here every time we come through BKK, which is regularly. We love it.
