i have stayed in many different hotels in bkk over the years and decided to try the new park plaza. we were not dissapointed. the rooms very nicely appointed - flat screen hdtv with plenty of channels, dvd player, quiet, bathroom was great (rain shower with good water pressure and heat). breakfast was great - lots of options. location was quiet and about a 10 min walk to the asok sky train (and terminal 21).
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
10 min walk to Terminal 21, Soi Cowboy, Asoke Sky Train/MRT

Decent Hotel with a strange damp smell
New and clean rooms, good location
5.3
Well the room was well-equipped, had pretty much what you'd expect from a five star in bangkok minus the five star price tag. Big bed, writing desk, closet, safe, huge tv, reading area with an arm chair, clean and nice bathroom with a bath tub. Only downside was the lack of a balcony and pretty much no view, so if you smoked in the room (which you can) the room can get very stuffy and smoke filled.
The shower was very good, though distant from the tub, which i find strange and there's a clean glass window separating the room from the bathroom.
A huge hotel like rembrandt was right door, the street has many fun establishments and nice and interesting places to explore and walk. A bar or two are right next door, for street food lovers, it's a great place to be. Also located close to BTS Asok and Terminal 21, the hotel shuttle drops you to the main road if you're in a hurry or not in the mood to walk. The downside to the entire hotel was the damp fungal smell, right when you enter through the main doors and the declining level of cleanliness of hotel. I could tell that the place feels decent only because it has newly opened up and their hygiene standards were downhill. I never felt like eating or having the complimentary breakfast at the hotel because that damp smell made me nauseous. Moreover, Park Plaza Soi 18 is not be confused with the bigger Park Plaza hotel located on main asok.

Great location. Clean and neat.

taxi organised by hotel did not drop us at requested location. we realise this is an issue in bangkok, however hotels of this calibre need to be able to provide honest taxi service.
Travel tip:
Bits Skytrain is easy to use, but very crowded.
Can walk to a number of great shopping Malls.

we arrived late and rooms were limited so the staff ungraded us to the next level. Being a Carlson club member may have helped but none the lesss we didnt ask they just did. The room had all the requirements for a 4 day business and pleasure city stay.

great location, new hotel
excellent location and friendly staff
7.7
we had a nice time here. the staff is very friendly. The restaurant breakfast is over priced, so don't bother eating there.
Restaurant Tip:
Visit the Long Table and The Seafood Bar on Soi 16 just down the street and around the corner.

Within walking distance from train station to Hotel at Soi 18

Good location, under chain management of Park Plaza hotel, so expect the high standard of the rooms
Travel tip:
The station has many exits. Do check out the hotel location on internet so you know exactly which direction to turn.
