For my money Princess is the best place to stay in Bangkok. The hotel has great facilities - pool, gym, restaurants and two tour desks plus it is connected to MBK - a 7-level air conditioned shopping centre that has two food halls and from there via the skybridge to the 7 or 8 Shopping Centres at Siam Square, from MBK you can access the skytrain network to get to lots of places in Bangkok. Its also a 10-minute walk to Klong san seb if you want to travel Bangkok waterways like the locals
Great hotel, pool, gym and shopping
None
- Shopping Tip : Check out the 7 level air conditioned Mahbonkrong (MBK) shopping centre and its foodhalls. Cheaper than eating in the hotel. Also has some western style chains like Starbucks, KFC and Burger King.
not that great

As we were leaving early at 5 am in the morning the hotel provided us with a breakfast box. Make sure you request this if you are leaving early and your breakfast is included.

Upon check-in we got a small room which we thought was very much like the Superior rooms we have stayed in a few years ago in this hotel. The problem was that this time we had booked a Deluxe room. The first time I complained about the size of the room they said that the room was indeed a Deluxe room so I temporarily rested my case. But I remembered that two weeks earlier we had stayed in the same hotel in a nice big Deluxe Corner room. With this in mind I went down to the receptionist and told them I wanted a big room like we had two weeks ago. Then they gave as a bigger room.
Better but...

When I got on a taxi from front of the hotel, they write down the getting on time and destination. That is convenient if any trouble happens.

When in Bangkok use the Skytrain to get around. It avoids the congestion of the traffic and you can get easily to the night markets at Silom and the river to be able to catch a boat to access the attractions along the river. Probably good access to other places too but we used it only for these. Cost is only 30baht a ticket and you can get day ticketss too. The best change in getting around Bangkok since I was last there 25 years ago.
- Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : We went on the River Kwai/Tiger temple day trip from Bangkok. We booked it in Australia but saw it was available from the tour desk at the Pathumwan Princess. The museum about the Death Railway was informative and well presented. The tiger temple experience was amazing and certainly the only time in your life to get so close to these magnificent animals without glass between you. The cubs are playful and you have the opportunity to feed them with a bottle. The adults are sleepy and relaxed (some say sedated) but the way they are breeding so well indicates they are contented. They are in the process of building an island for the tigers so they can roam more freely. A once in a lifetime experience!
A happy vacation

The hotel position is convenient in the town center. MBK is downstairs, perfect for shopping.
- Shopping Tip : Nearby the hotel has 7-11, is good. Has the daily necessities and food may buy, because of MBK in the hotel, the shopping and exchange is convenient
Good location
