Location next to MBK shopping centre, newly renovated rooms, close to skytrain, 25 metre pool

Small rooms, no CNN on cable

Great hotel for a short stay in Bangkok as it is next to an extensive shopping centre (MBK) as well as the skytrain. I booked because the hotel had a 25 metre pool so I could swim laps. Having only an overnight stay, its excellent location and its newly renovated rooms made a comfortable stay. Breakfast, though not inclusive, is available up to 8 AM at half price had a large variety of choices. Pity that they seat you like sardines in a small section of an empty restaurant.

Restaurant Tip : If you enjoy reading a newspaper at breakfast time, don't forget to ask for one when you are being seated as they will happily supply one.

Perfect location in the center of the city. Right on top of MBK Shopping center. Foot walk distance to fife to seven top malls in the area. Best hotelpool in the center of bangkok, including fitness club (open to the public).

High price per room compared to similar hotels in the greater area. Unpersonal treatment and missing charm. Just professional but that's it.

It's a great hotel for people who have the budget and want to stay a bit longer in bangkok. With it's infrastructure it provides an oasis in the middle of the roaring city of Bangkok. Especially for people on business visite it's infrastructur is above average and also the dry-foot-direct access to public transportation is extremely convenient. But if you're on a budget (night rates in May 2009 were about US$ 130 plus VAT per room with one livingroom and one bedroom including small kitchen and walk in closet) you find similar places for half the money. Check out Natural Ville Hotel and Serviced Appartments on Tanon Langsuan 61. Also be aware, that the Pathumwan Princess in the process of renovation. You might experience some construcktion noise during the daytime. I assume it will last at least untill mid / end 2010 until they will be done. The good thing is, that the quantity of newly renovated rooms will be increasing over time. The bad part is, that they probably will increase prices on the newly renovated rooms. Personally i'd expect - for the price of the hotel - that the new rooms would be worth the price, the old ones are not up to date anymore - or at least not for the price charged at present (May 2009)

Shopping Tip : Check out "Suan Lum Nightmarket" next to Lumpini Park. It's a great place to shop for regional products ant thai design items as well as for the general stuff you might also find on other street markets. It also has a giant beergarden with live music. But hurry up. According to local people, it's supposed to disappear and be replaced by some other annonymous giant building of the sort that you see all over. So in May 2009 it's still open and i assume it will be for an other while, at least until the current econcomic downturn makes room for better times.

Location, Friendliness of staff

None

A very nice hotel with a fantastic location located just above a mega mall, Mah Boon Kong. This actually allows me to buy as much as i wanted, cos of the convenience in getting back to the hotel to unload my purchases. The thoughtfulness of the staff is also something, which I should compliment. They will always server a drink when I step in and rush to open the door for me cos my hands are occupied.

Shopping Tip : Located just above a mega mall.

We arrived early in the morning and the staff managed to give us a very good room. All the staff we meet were very service minded and good. The room was very good. The location close to MBK is excellent. We just stayed one night and did not try the food.

We visited this hotel on our honeymoon. Staff were fantastic and we felt very secure. Great location, attached to MBK shopping centre and great food court. Easy access to sky train which enabled us to get around the city very easily and for little money. We had a refurbished room and it was just stunning. Will definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family.

Shopping Tip : MBK attached has lots of great buys, check out all floors.

Nicley renovated room near thre top floor, good location on top of MBK

Initial room was very average, old decor, we paid a surcharge and moved to one of the newly renovated rooms near the top floor, not cheap.

Nice experience overall provided you get the renovated rooms up top. Massive bathroom, 2 plasma tv's, good location. Service was good.

Restaurant Tip : Sirocco - book in advance and have a meal on the roof top, an amazing experience but very expensive. You have to do it at least once!

We enjoyed everything about the room, the bed was large and very very comfortable. The views were great. We both really enjoyed the pool and spa's and the service was outstanding. Great location with access to the MBK centre from level two.

There were some renovations being conducted on our floor nearby but it could not generally be heard from our room. I understand that to maintain such great standards that upgrades need to be undertaken. It did not effect our stay though.

I highly recommend the P/Princess to anyone travelling to Bangkok. It's location at MBK centre made the shopping experience even greater, with a very short walk back to the room with handfulls of shopping. The spa and pool area are fantastic, with the spa temperature at 38c. The service and staff are very friendly and helpfull. The buffe' breakfast was great with the chefs at the egg station making what ever your heart desired in the way of cooked egg or omlette. I thoroughly recommend anyone to take a stay at this wonderful hotel. The old saying "you pay for what you get", is very true. Highly recommended.

Shopping Tip : Very handy to go into the MBK centre and then return with loads of shopping straight into your hotel room and drop off and go for another load of shopping.

The room was big and there was a separate door and a walk in wardrobe.

Anyone could access after 11pm thru the 2nd floor - they do not verify if there is a 3rd guest.

We feel like a princess and prince there during my stay there and have enjoyed the size of the room. The bed however was smaller than I thought and a little hard.We like that it was facing the swimming pool - however in the afternoon - the sun can be very hot and shining towards the room. The walk in wardrobe was great though. Bathroom slightly smaller. There were mosquitoes flying around even at the lounge area

Shopping Tip : Mah Boon Krong

Larges pool area in the center of bangkok. Close to public mass transportation. Direct access of MBK shopping mall. In walking distance of many of the lagest shopping malls in bangkok. Complementary access to Olympic Fitness Club on the pool flore of the hotel. Great spa. Modern hotel lobby. If you're not in the mood to go out into town, you can spend an evening in the hotel, dining at the poolside garden and having a drink at the lobby bar with live piano music. Excellent business hotel.

Expensive internet access (but good quality and fast connection). Extra fee if you bring visitors to the pool or to the hotel after 11 p.m.

Great business location or a good place if you stay in bangkok for more than 2 or 3 days. Best pool are in the city center and direct proximity to shopping and mass transportation. Well known and can be found by literally every taxi driver in town.

Restaurant Tip : Zensei roof top restaurant and bar. Located at Zen department store in the Central World shopping mall. Wonderfull view over the city center and great interior design of the whole place.

the loop resturant,the calm invirement

the hotell rooms need a makeover, the rest is nice.

the hotel is great because its near the big shopping mall MBK, and it has a plassent athmosfeare at the loop resturant near by tha pool at the 8 th floor. the only thing to put our fingers on is the noise and dust from the rennovation, but in the future it will be better for the hotel ,because it really needs the rennovation.

Shopping Tip : MBK and if you go out on the 2 end floor inside Tokyo you can walk to around five or sixs moore shopping centers.

This resort is one of the best I've stayed at for tsome time. The staff are so friendly and willing to help. The access to the MBK centre for 6 levels of shopping is just fantastic if you are keen to get into the shops and pick up some great bargains. The bed was sooooo comfortable, we just loved our stay there.

There were some renovations on our level but it did not effect us at all as you could not hear the works going on from inside the room.

For value for money and access to shopping and Patpong Rd, the P/Princess is situated in the MBK centre where there are 6 levels of shopping. It is great to come back through the shops straight into the lift with hands full of shopping and straight into your room, then out again for another load. The pool and spa area was wonderful with a large pool for lap swimming and spa's set to 38c and a bar nearby. We loved our stay and would return again without doubt.

Shopping Tip : So close and within the MBK centre which is 6 levels of awsome value for money shopping for all. Highly recommended thanks again Pathumwan Princess
