Doesn't get much better than this...

the travel gods smiles on us and we were upgraded to a suite. the peninsula is a world class hotel. it's only. drawbacks for us is the constant buzz (not noise) and activity. really a great hotel but the mandarin oriental across the river just noses it out for atmosphere.
Travel tip:
Use the frequent river ferries and the elevated BTS to travel around Bangkok whenever you can. We find the river in Bangkok endlessly fascinating .

the service is good and very customer oriented. they have an excellent river cafe with a good view of the main river, with a jetty point just next to it.
the room is a bit old but that doesn't prevent it from giving a very comfortable ambiance at all.
have to say that the taxi service provided by the hotel is way more expensive than normal taxis though.

This is the best hotel in Bangkok, regardless of all the rankings. It is the combination of location, style, service quality which makes this one hard to beat. The pool area and garden have a distinct holiday feel ab out them, and this in the middle of Bangkok. The kids loved it better then the Samui resport - in fact, they asked us to get back to Bangkok. Prices are reasonable. The restaurant has food which is adapted to the western palate, hence, look elsewhere for the real Thai experience.
Overall - top notch!

Large room with view of the river. We saw the New Year fireworks. However, food was slightly disappointing in the hotel. There was a good gym and swimming pool. Spa was also excellent. Unfortunately, cooking school was closed over New Years as we really wanted to try this.

A great place to stay in Bangkok - the best!

This was our 2nd stay at the Peninsula inless than 3 weeks. My previous comments still stand. This is, and will be, our choice hotel for stays in Bangkok. It is superbly well located, the river is always interesting, and the sky train is close by so one can avoid the Bangkok traffic. The breakfasts are excellent, as is the Thai restaurant on the river. The concierge staff are also always extremely helpful. Highly recommended!

We had excellent service, in particular when we asked to upgrade our originally booked room to one with a balcony. The concierge desk also gave us good local insight to restaurants and shopping. This is a top class hotel and we are going back for another stay tomorrow! Lovely bathrooms and pool area also.
Restaurant Tip:
Ask for a balcony room on higher floor - fabulous views of the ongoing action on the river and Bangkok at night. Never boring!
