slightly difficult to find (taxi driver had to ask for directions turns out we were literally round the corner) when we arrived the staff were welcoming and friendly. had to walk up 3 flights of stairs with out bags which was difficult but when we got to the room we were pleasantly surprised. they were large, spacious and clean-couldnt ask for much else! about a 20 mins walk to khao san road and 2 mins from the nearest 7-11. nice place-had a pleasant stay

Good location, simple but large, clean rooms

Our room was HUGE, though a bit bare. The air con worked great, as did the hot shower and the wireless internet. The rooms are not fancy and the bed was pretty hard, but all in all Penpark worked great for us. It is set away from the main road, so it was nice and quiet. We didn't spend much time at the hotel, since there is so much to see in Bangkok. Penpark is an easy 10 minute walk from Khao San road, which means you can enjoy the backpacker scene without staying in a noisy and potentially dumpy hostel. And the price was great at Penpark.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
The Grand Palace / Wat Phra Kaew are worth the 500 baht per person entry in my book - incredible. Also, definitely worth taking the ferry across and climbing Wat Arun. Look for free education classes on meditation and Buddhism - ours was really interesting! Also, we were given a free meal at the temple (donation appreciated but no pressure).

the food was great... and a part of the owner... all people working there were lovely and welcoming

our daughter of 2 years old loved the people working there...there were really friendly and lovely ...
it s nice walking distance from khao san road...carrying our baby on our back..was a lovely walk at night and day time...
nice little shops around worth having a look...around
tasty pancake at the guest house..and coin operated washing machine and dryer...which was really handy...
we would love to go back....

Really enjoyed the stay at Penpark despite the steep prices and pretty poor customer service.
The customer service was sorely lacking on arrival and throughout the stay. The lady at reception was initially extremely standoffish and unhelpful. Almost as though she didnt want us to stay at her accomodation. Secondly staff seemed to sit around in the cafe area completely oblivious to guests standing around reception needing service. Only when you approached them did they stand up, come over and help.
the lady at reception was not happy at all about us booking online instead of directly with her via cash. She even was untruthful about rooms available, making us book the more expensive room despite it clearly available on the website.
