Great food around the hotel and the room was well maintained. the location of this hotel is mainly the key because it very close to shopping and night life and few other night spots are only a short tuk tuk ride away!!! Great for bachelors who would love to taste the true essence of bkk night life and also gud for family because of the abundance of shopping available nearby...

great food around the hotel and the room was well maintained but the jacuzzi in the suite wasnt working and no effort was made to get it fixed, so dat was a bit of disappointment. apart from that the location of this hotel is mainly the key because it very close to shopping and night life and few other night spots are only a short tuk tuk ride away!!! great for bachelors who would love to taste the true essence of bkk night life and also gud for family because of the abundance of shopping available nearby...

Overrated as 5-star
The Premiere Suite is like a home and complete with all one needs to be comfortable.

i expected better because it was classified as 5-star. we were made to wait 3 hours coz the room was not ready when we came. the room in itself was perfect, nice and well-equipped but it was located outside of the main building so one has to go through the pool area go down a carpeted stairs which look very filthy then enter an extra entrance whose card machine is out of order. we had to go to the reception at least 5 times to tell them it doesn't work. the location is a little walk to the town center. if one has no luggage one can take the mrt to nana station to the airport. the hotel has free tuktuk service to nana station. the staff are friendly. breakfast is good enough. don't take the tour package from the hotel, it is overpriced (double as in a travel agency) and not much choice.
oh and by the way, the beddings looked fresh and clean but there were dust mites in one side of the bed, my husband and i had so many rushes and itchy bites.

I was disappointment but the quality of hotel when I arrived
the hotel was not clean, the breakfast was very poor. Every morning I had to wash my spoon and fork before eating because
they were not properly wash and they were smelling of eggs.
the staff were not properly trained to serve breakfast. The pastries were not fresh. We had to ask for towell from time to time because they forgot to replace them. The bed sheet were not replaced even after 4 days.

stayed in the area many times before, never here. upgraded me to a large suite, huge tv, full kitchen, large br and lr. off the beaten track (end of soi 11), but tuk tuk shuttle solves that problem. helpful staff, great breakfast buffet. try it!

Ageing hotel delivered but needs some work.

Upon arrival we were quite happy with our experience. Having booked the Platinum Suite for two nights while we passed through Bangkok, we were very happy with the location, and the service on arrival was fairly good. Breakfast at the buffet was excellent, with a dedicated omelet chef taking requests.
But... the hotel needs some serious attention. In our room alone, we had a broken kettle, a bath plug that didn't work, one of the phones didn't work, and the lights' wiring appeared to be damaged - lights would come on in the middle of the night on their own, and switches in the bathroom would operate lights in the bedroom. The toilet also had some difficulty flushing at times, and the shower wasn't particularly pleasant to use.
Staff weren't particularly knowledgeable or helpful as you'd expect from a nice hotel either - quite disappointing I'd say.
Either way, we had a great time, and the huge space, good food and excellent location more than made up for the humorously dysfunctional amenities! I'm not sure the Platinum Suite is the way to go, unless you're smuggling in a sporting team that needs lodging as well.
Shopping Tip:
ZEN is quite a good collection of home-wear, fashion, etc.... if you're in to that kind of thing!

This hotel is located in Sukhumvit Soi 11. With 30 minutes walk, 10 min Tug Tug, to my favourite IT/Gadget shopping mall, Pantip Plaza, loaded with all kind of gadgets (Software, Spy cameras, Cell phones, etc etc). Neighbour shops you also find some of the largest shopping malls in Bangkok!

Hotel location was bad in dirty area, as per the staff the hotel was build since 1976, the reception staff ask to see my credit and deduct 3000thb guarantee without my authority till today its not back to my card , room was big but not clean the bed sheet was old and completely damage, after complain the change it with a new one, water was smelly and testy, everything was disaster in this hotel , they should rating hotel as 2 star not 5 star

I usually stay at the President Solitaire for periods up to a week, beyond that it makes sense to move into a guest house of which there are many near by. The hotel is well-situated, clean, and the rooms are large considering. The staff are friendly and go out of the way to assist the bewildered. Breakfast in the small restaurant adjacent the pool is varied and worth rising for. The pool, itself, is fine but more suited for single visitors rather than families.
But alas some things need work. The in-room Wifi is a mess involving activating complicated numbers from little slips of paper which half the time are expired. It usually take several hours to straighten out and then you have to repeat the process the next day. When active, the signal is good.
The other problem is common to even hi-end Asian hotels -- no one understands the North American fixation with ice. Unless repeatedly instructed to in detail, room service will bring a glass of ice, not a proper bucket. Moreover, there is no room service after 11 pm. They need an ice machine on a mid-number floor as in most NA hotels.
Pointers: Get the staff to get you a taxi rather than use those in front of the entrance. It takes longer but you avoid an expensive negotiation.
