A step back in time - in a good way!
quiet! charming, unique, great service
9.3
this hotel totally exceeded our expectations. the service and attention to detail rivals that at 5 star hotels! from the minute we passed through the front door, we were taken care of. cool face towels, friendly/efficient check-in, room service, and luggage handling services were top notch. loved the location. great street food. keep up the good work. we'll be back. at your price point, you should be fully booked every night. best bang for the buck! and, the gold fish in your room - sweet.
Restaurant Tip:
Chili crab street food not to be missed.

nice little hotel
unusual style and decoration
7.3
we arrived late, but after checking in it was easy to find
a variety of restaraunts and take away food in the area.
overslept in the very comfortable beds and so missed breakfast
but did have a nice cup of tea in the restaraunt downstairs.
the restaraunt menu was very limited in choice.
however overall a nice and unusual little hotel in the middle of bangkok.
would be happy to recommend .
Hotel Feature Tip:
there is a fairly large grocery shop on the ground floor.
ideal for topping up on water and juice.

nice ambience and many buts....
the deco especially the lightning is nice but its far frm shanghai feel (as a chinese point of view),the good chinese resturant along the road is a must try
4
hotel room is small, sound proof is bad,you can hear water sound when your adjacent room is using the bath room, walking noise along the corridors is loud and clear, the towels are hard ,rough and old.breakfast is just lousy.traffic around this area is extremely bad(i know bbk traffic is bad).taxi refuse you when you want to go back to this hotel cos of the bad traffic.not much shopping attractions within the walking range..
Shopping Tip:
if you are a serious shopper, stay away from this hotel..chose some hotel near siam square area..

Fantastic Hotel
Beautiful, nice rooms, great service
8.7
Nice, beautiful hotel with great service. We were greeted with tea and hot towels. The suite is lovely and really worth the money. The food in the restaurant is nothing special, so we recommend dinner elsewhere.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Chinatown street markets.

Charming hotel with wonderful jazz bar
Quite an exotic find. Romantic and sumptuous. Great jazz bar with cocktails.
9
Shanghai Mansion takes you to the exotic east and tried to recreate the impression of being in Shanghai in the last century. Decor, chaise longues, four poster beds, Chinese cabinets and ceramics all contribute to the rich, evocative atmosphere. The jazz bar is a must with a wide range of cocktails and an excellent resident quartet featuring soprano sax and double bass, keyboards and a small drum set. The lobby is beautifully appointed though the downstair bar which is on the street is ugly and next to a cheap Tops market and plays loud club music completely out of sync with the hotel itself.
Breakfast was a little slow but the food was excellent and varied.
Restaurant Tip:
There is a good map which provides information on the many restaurants in the area. You can do the walk which is interesting enough in itself. Personally I prefer the Indian restaurants in the area, specifically the Royal India located in a small alley at the centre of the neighbourhood. Well established it is always busy with locals and backpackers alike. Food portions are delicious and generous and th price is very reasonable.. The lamb and vegetarian dishes are particularly tasty.

Stayed here for 4 days. The hotel is verry nice decorated, staff is efficient and friendly. The rooms are clean. The location is ideal for exploring chinatown or the other main touristic atractions. Wat poh, royal palace etc are just a few cheap taxi minutes away. Good (street)restaurants are more than availible.

I like the interior design.the hotel has shuttle bus to shopping area. Inside the hotel also has game for you to play.I wish I have more time to spend in the hotel than to go out, but me and my boyfriend had already plan to go shopping.
