Has free wifi!!!! and only place that had free stuff in fridge for us. It was cool for a night or 2 but otherwise I'm not sure.
Very small rooms, and dim lighting in hallways and rooms. Breakfast had 4 choices, Asain, Westerner, fit, and pancakes. so very limited. I only stayed 1 night to try it out, and prolly will use again, but not a long stay.
Room, bed was good, really enjoyes decor, even little fish in indoor pond, and sitting areas, but rooms very small. Shower was GREAT!, like rainfall, clean, and free soda and chips in fridge for free, never had hotel offer free things!!! great location also, so many food choices right outside hotel, everywhere.
Restaurant Tip : food around every corner, just check menus on outside the eateries., Not a good place for long stay but few days yea its great, FREE WI FI, and snacks in fridge. plus was very clean.

The Hotel has a nice location. The bed and pillows are comfortable. The room is comfortable and clean.
The signage or the name of the Hotel is not easily visible. Easy to be missed.
The Hotel has a nice location. The bed and pillows are comfortable. The furnishings are tasty. My room's furnitures are mixed between Chinese and French. All facilities are nice and acceptable.
Hotel staff are friendly and very helpful, especially the conceirge who has checked the location of the restuarant for me. Decoration in the common areas is also very good. Good quality breakfast.
The signage or the name of the Hotel is not easily visible. I walked pass the front of the Hotel twice before getting used to the location - but once getting used to it there is no more problem. The semi-see-through bathromm doors are not familiar to me. This may be embarassed if I would be staying with other people rather than my family.
Restaurant Tip : Many good chinese and seafood reatuarants around the hotel

Great atmosphere: Lovely, helpful, friendly staff: Quiet room: Extremely clean: Good breakfast: Great Value.
Difficult to read in bed with subdued lighting: Would have liked coffee available in room as well as teabags. A pity the dining room isn't utilised of an evening for dinner or as a bar.
This is the nicest hotel I have ever stayed in. The ambience is lovely and it feels very spacious with little sitting areas on each floor. Clever decor makes up for lack of windows in some rooms. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the breakfast was good.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The hotel's free tuk tuk to various sights was useful.

stunning design, great location, free wifi, friendly staff
Air-con is slightly noisy and the bed sheets could be better quality
I come to Bangkok regularly and this boutique hotel is definitely a cut above. Recently renovated, it has a nineteenth century Chinoiserie feel throughout. The rooms are stunning: polished concrete floors, regal Chinese antique-style princess beds, red lacquer-wear handbasins - every detail is true to theme. If you're into design or you've ever fancied yourself lounging about in a glamorous Victorian opium den then this is the place for you. One room on each floor faces the street; these rooms are large and a small balcony will suit smokers but if you're sensitive to noise they are best avoided. No need to worry about running up bills with added extras: the wifi is fast and free and the drinks in the minibar are complementary.
Restaurant Tip : Located right in the middle of some of the finest street food in Bangkok

Beautiful boutique hotel that is well-decorated and truly unique. Suitable for couples looking to re-kindle a bit of romance or those wanting a romantic get-away... but still wanting to eat and shop.
No in-house restaurant. Breakfast is pretty basic.
Shanghai Mansion is a surprising find. It is a pretty little hotel where great attention to detail has been paid to the creation of elegance from a bygone era. It is right in the heart of Chinatown, a few steps away from some really good street food, and of course, the ubiquitous birds nest and sharksfin restaurants. My husband and I are going back - for sure!
Hotel Feature Tip : There is no minibar in-room, but the lounge on each level has a well-stocked refrigerator full of iced tea and little packets of Lays potato chips. It is Lays, even though the labelling is in Thai.

Lovely looking internal courtyard
Great bathroom features in suite including the biggest bath I have ever had the pleasure of sitting in!
Friendly service
Free Tuk Tuk to major attractions
A bit of a hike to get to tourist destinations or shopping centres
Breakfast could be improved ie milk with coffee
Can feel a bit claustraphobic
In no way derogatory to call it the poor Mandarin Oriental as it was so beautiful inside it felt Just like the layout the expensive hotel offers at a fraction of the price.
The negatives I have outlined above and to add it may feel a bit boxy and stuffy if you must have a window to look out from. I could open mine but there was only a concrete wall to see.
Restaurant Tip : Go to the Erawan tearoom at the Hyatt hotel near Chitlom for high tea with a Thai twist. It will only set you back 220THB for great quality food within a lovely setting and will leave you so stuffed you probably wont be able to eat dinner!

Interior decoration is very chinese style, its a nice experience. Also extremely near the China town food street, therefore plenty of food options in the evening.
- Room is a little bit too dim.
Love this hotel, service is good and staffs are friendly, I would return to stay again if I want to stay in Chinatown area.
Shopping Tip : very convenient location, easy to get to Silom street where there are many shopping centres.

Location - 10-15 min walk to Hualamphong Train Station and MRT.
Right smack in Chinatown, some tourists might not be prepared for the total assimilation of their senses in terms of noise, sight and smell.
Though the hotel has been around for a while, it is very well-maintained and amenities are still relatively new. The rooms are quaint and furnished chinese-style (be prepared for a lot of red).
Located in the middle of Chinatown, the whole street is transformed into a night market by 6pm. There is a wide array of local food and it is cheap.
Given it's location, it's suitable for those with early morning trains to catch. Not only so, being near the MRT means that you can plan your shopping/sight-seeing along the MRT or BTS routes - cutting down time stuck in a taxi in BKK notorious traffic.

Loved this hotel hidden in the middle of Chinatown. Great decor, very clean, quiet and helpful staff.
No facilities/ restaurant but this didn't bother us- there are a million places along the streets you can get amazing food.
Overall we had a great, short stay at this hotel. I've been to Bangkok a few times and this was definitely the best place I've stayed in on a reasonable budget. Definitely recommend.

History of the building;
Excellent use of Chinese design icons in a contemporary setting;
location is convenient for access to Chinatown;
Friendly staff;
Mini bar - free drinks and snacks -- good idea
dark and quiet corridors;
expensive buffet breakfast
Shanghai Mansion is a visual feast! Faithful reproduction of Chinese design influences
esp the central atrium with the hanging lanterns - stunning! I like the small size of the hotel although it is too quiet when I stayed there. The building has some historic significance which should be made more prominent with an exhibition area (aside from the small frame at entrance).
Restaurant Tip : Typical Chinatown choices. Do avoid the sharkfin restaurants next to the hotel if you care about endangered species!

Great staff ,Great location, Clean, heaps of hot water. Great breakfast .
I can't think of a thing that I didn't like.Maybe that the chairs in the two rooms that we stayed in are not the best to sit on. Something more lay back would be great.
From the moment that we arrived we had a great Time .Cold tea and ice cold freshner towels while we where being booked in.Good rooms. Great location if you like to eat on the street .Thirty meters up on the next side street every night is great food cooked and served on the street.We would like to thank the staff who couldn't be more helpfull when my wife became ill on the way to the hotel for our second stay after a week on the Islands .To the manager who gave us late check out so my wife could rest before our flight
home with out charge ,thank you .
Restaurant Tip : Good food around the corner. Good sea food and cold beer at good prices.

Sumptuous interior, great bed, wicked shower, ideal location, VALUE.
No information regarding hotel facilities (room service) provided.
The hotel looks like a film set. From intricate wallpaper to magnificent lighting, I challenge anyone to find a better value hotel in an energetic part of Bangkok. The rooms are elegant and well appointed and the beds were expensive! We loved it so much that we have booked our return stay. The supermarket below is perfect for gathering bits and pieces. The staff are attentive but not intrusive, ten out of ten for the money.
Shopping Tip : Top up at the supermarket!

Location, oriental theme and indoor courtyard
The location of this hotel is right in the smack of Chinatown Bangkok. If Chinatown is where you want to be , this would be perfect choice. Mind you the day and night time scenes are quite different so dont prejudge if you check in day time. Lot of yummy seafood just found the corner from the hotel. Must try the birdnest with gingko nuts, very delicious.
Restaurant Tip : The chinese restaurant next door is very ex. Just go on the street and the food stall serves equally good food at fraction of the price!

We enjoyed our stay here. It offers great access to the whole sale district, great Chinese, seafood at bargain price.
The decorative doors are just that, for decorative purpose. Traffic by the hotel is always hectic and jammed.
We would stay here again. The room decor is pleasant, clean, and comfortable. The location is in the heart of China town with great seafood, bird nest soup, and a variety of fruit. The hotel is in the center of the wholesale market, great place for the bargain shopper. The hotel appears to cater to Western travelers vice Asians.
Restaurant Tip : There is a great noodle stand across the street where it has the best fish ball noodle soup for around 1 USD.
