The Shangi La Hotel was very nice, the people working there were very helpful. We made good use of the concierge, he helped us a lot throughout our visit. We had food in the restaurant and the selection and variety was amazing, the food was really good too. Our room had a great view of the river. There was a complimentary shoe shine service. And the hotel sent us up some lovely chocolates to our room once they found out we were on our honeymoon. It was a lovely experience and we will be staying there again on our next visit.

The concierge was a God send, he helped us write out the names of places we wanted to go in Thai, and suggested lots of great things to do.

There were none.

• Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : use the sky train, its fun and easy to use, plus its fast as well,saves tons of time.

Shangri-La Bangkok (Krungthep Wing) Guest Rating: 4.8

What a great location for a hotel, right on the riverside and by the local Skytrain station and river taxi. Perfect for getting the tourist boat to the many attractions that Bangkok has to offer. Would definitely recommend paying the extra for the Krungthep wing as it gives you so much more luxury

From my room I could see both the Peninsula and the Oriental, Shangri-la's only 2 real competitors in this market.

• Shopping Tip : Just up the road at Silom Place I found and bought several very nice leather handbags. Also, the roof bar at the Lebua State Tower is only 2 blocks away and very chic, but don't wear flipflops there as they won't let you out there (dress code!)

I think the setting beside the river is just the best. Close to the skytrain is a plus but it could be better advertised where to walk to access the skytrain ie through the other wing of the hotel rather than walking the streets. Servicing of the room was excellent and views from the rooms were superb.

• Hotel Feature Tip : Walk through the other wing of the hotel to reach the skytrain rather than walking around the street

• Hotel Feature Tip : Hotel has a Jacussi, Turkish bath, sauna and workout equipment and lessons. The Wellness Center is worth a try.

The Shangri-la Hotel in Bangkok has a worldwide reputation. Perhaps I was just unlucky that day.

• Travel tip : The Concierge was very helpful in directing me to the nearest Jim Thomson shop.

River view was nice. If you stay in Bangkok long time, I recommend Krungthep Deluxe Room.
