nice hotel in the cbd/expat area of bangkok. loads of japanese restaurants around. hotel had free tuk tuk service available to a few spots. good for a business traveller or others working in bangkok, home away from home. breakfast simple and okay.

great hotel, wonderful views, beautiful swimming pool, lovely staff. would absolutely stay here over and over. the only thing not fabulous is the breakfast, same thing everyday and not great. very basic, and could use an upgrade, especially in this price range.

we have stayed at somerset thonglor numerous times. it is new (built 2010), very well designed, upmarket and has professional, friendly and knowledgeable staff.
somerset thonglor is serviced apartments, so you get a washer/dryer and the rooms are small apartments.
the bathrooms are absolutely fantastic, big, new with high quality german fittings and an over sized bath.
i normally stay in 5 star business hotels, but for longer stays, or just for the thonglor lifestyle somerset thonglor is great.
Restaurant Tip:
on the other side of thonglor bts is some of bkk's best food carts. the mango cart (opposite one of bkk's most awarded pad thai carts) is an absolute must, with some of the best quality mangoes available and staffed by lovely people. open 5pm-2amish.

i like it because it's very near the nice restaurants. they also have a free service to the bts. thonglor is the place to be. you can see pretty much everything in that area.
Restaurant Tip:
Go to Patara, they have excellent ford. Must eat at the seafood restaurant, if it swims, they have it fresh and then have it cooked your way.

Loved everything about the hotel - clean and spacious room, friendly staff, complimentary tuk tuk service to the BTS station as well as the free internet. The room comes with a kitchenette and washing machine, and even details like the laundry and dishwashing detergent are not forgotten.

Those hotel staff were nice. Especcially staff who brought drinks and meal ,ordered by room service were excellent. It was not long time to wait for them. They brought dish by dish. They were not cold and good taste.

This is my third time staying at this hotel and I will be back. Location on Soi 55 is excellent. If you can't find what you need on the Soi, then the hotel will drive you down in their free shuttle to the BTS station to access all of Bangkok. For healthy hearts and trim waistlines the walk to the same spot is about 15 minutes. Only con was walking into the assigned non-smoking room and finding it rancid with overpowering cigarette smoke from the previous guest. The staff quickly came up and had me tour other rooms until I fond one that didn't smell. Problem solved. The rooms are all appointed well and beds are comfortable, especially pillows. Breakfast is good, catering towards the Japanese pallet, but didn't bother me a bit. You wont be disappointed in staying here.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Great infinity pool and gym on 9th floor. No in-hotel massage, but all you need to do is go to the road, turn left and pick one you like - from the naughty to the very classy.
