Big room
Right in middle of everything
If you're single and going to hang around Nana for the nightlife, then this is a good hotel. Lots of bachelors hanging around. Room was big but a bit old fashioned. Breakfast ok.

Nice rooms in a good location
Location, price, nice rooms, good service
Very central, and still a quiet place after a busy day! Nice to have a drink in the outside bar in the evening. The rooms are very nice, service is professional, and breakfast very enjoyable.

Great location, good size rooms
In the heart of Sukhumvit Road.
located on sukhumvit soi 23 the hotel is tucked away and easy to miss. well located for sukhumvit road and asoke train station (overhead & underground) is less than 5 minutes walk. reception is large and the open plan coffee shop area is adjacent. staff are friendly and efficient. rooms were clean, spacious and a good selection of tv channels available. decor is getting a bit worn and the hotel could do with a reburbishment, but still good value for money at the current rates

Its ok but pretty run down
Good location, alright facilities
Hotel is nice enough but is pretty old and tatty. Only thing that we thought was very strange is that we had a sales call to our room offering us a better room rate if we sat through a 90 min presentation which stank of a time share offer (there were posters for a time share in all the lifts etc) Oh and room service was Horrible.

Well managed, but with a problem
The TaiPan has an odd problem. It is well managed. Everything works. But this is a hotel from a different era - someplace like the 70's and it shows. The entrance way is confusing and unappealing. Although they try to improve it with a cafe style develpment, it can't take away the fact that you feel like you are walking to a garage rather than a hotel. The reception and other areas, such as the spa, all look to be creative add-ons rather than designed elements (the gym looks to be one of the better ones I have seen on a hotel of comparable size). The rooms themselves are spacious - but verging on the Spartan. There is no artwork or colour, but they are seemingly very well maintained. The space is wasted - put a proper desk in there or something; a bit of fruit for colour even! The problem is that at this hotel's price point, there is a huge selection of more modern hotels - and that was at a discounted price. At full price, it is simply overpriced. One can't help feel that management is playing a bad hand of cards exceptionally well as probably even complete renovation would do nothing to moderate the structural failings of the design.

Not a bad outfit, friendly staff
Friendly and helpful staff
Almost adjacent to Soi Cowboy, which has been my favourite nightlife spot in Bangkok for the last few years, and many massage parlours with many girls touting for business almost on the doorstep of the hotel, and also the recent opening of Terminal 21 shopping centre nearby plus easy access to the MRT and the BTS...only downside was getting caught out again with taxi hailed by the doorman, not 180 baht or so as it would have been by meter taxi but 400 baht fixed price... but... it is Thailand after all!

Standard Hotel with excellent location
Location, spacious room and free wifi
The room is clean and spacious and have all amenities you need although it's quite old. The location is great with only a short walk (2-300 metres) to BTS station and main road of Sukhumvit. There are many restaurants around the hotel both local restaurants and fine dining which make it very convenient in every way. The service is good, nothing spectacular but nothing bad. Overall this is an average hotel with great location and free wifi.
