clean room, friendly, generally helpful staff.

pool area and fitness facility clean but not so well-equiped. Pool temp too warm and separate small pool same temp as opposed to hot. Outrageously high laundry fees (ex. $3 (U.S.) per t-shirt).

Good value, good location.

Nice clean rooms, friendly staff, transport to MRT,711 across the road, massage and nightlife within walking distance

None

On arrival at the hotel we were greeted by friendly staff. Whilst completing the arrival forms we were given a welcoming cocktail. The whole process of booking in took us about 10 minutes. The porters showed us to our room and explained how everything worked. The room had a nice kingsize bed, full bathroom with shower and nice clean towels. The aircon helped with the heat and the view was very nice. What suprised me was the well mannered staff and the cleanliness of the hotel. When we were leaving the hotel each morning the consierge staff would show us the map and give us good advice on where to go and how to get there. The BTS and MRT station is a 10 minute walk from the hotel and is air conditioned. We found this the best mode of transport and because it was situated so close to the hotel saved us a lot of money on tuk tuk fare. The spa area is also clean and well looked after. The food was good, however a bit more expensive than eating places in the area. For all the smokers out there, this was a big plus for us to have a smoking room. I would reccommend this hotel to anybody and would definately stay there again on our next visit to Bangkok

Nightlife Tip : The is a little bar situated right next door to Montein hotel where we drank every night. Staff were friendly and drinks very cheap

Location, concierge staff

Check-in, lack of amenities, lack of inclusions

Location, location, location may be the catchcry for purchasing property as well as for choosing the right hotel but when it comes to latter, there has to be more. The Tawana is well situated in Silom, close to restaurants, bars, shopping and major tourist destinations. But in an area where there is no lack of hotel choice, there has to be more. While the welcome in the driveway from th hotel's cheery concierge staff was warm, check-in was not the usual friendly, efficient Thai way and the lack of inclusions such as breakfast or internet access removed any cost benefits indicated by the offered room rate. The rooms are adequte but not special and again, skimping on bathroom amenities doesn't make you feel as if your rate is indeed 'special'. Stay here if you can't find a better deal at one of the many hotels in this area - but there are much better deals avaiable at clean, friendly hotels in the same strip.

Restaurant Tip : Street dining in the Silom area is a taste and price delight... street food vendors are friendly, inexpensive and present 'real thai' dining experience.

location, amenities

some rooms can be noisy, and many are in need of refurbishment

i have stayed at this hotel several times recently, and have been staying here occasionally over the past 20+ years, mostly because of the location. The staff are friendly, food is good, amenities good.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Patpong market just across the road, well worth a visit (but be sure to bargain!)

Good location, free in-rm internet service, friendly and helpful housekeeping staff, swimming pool

Breakfast is not up to our expectations, we had better one in Phuket hotels....

Good located, with lots of massage places and restaurants near by, few minutes to the Skytrain and MTR, easy to go around the other parts of the city... Housekeeping staff r very friendly and warm, always greet guests with warm smile and helpful hands...

Travel tip : There is an exchange shop near by, with good exchange rate for HK dollars, worth of trying....

Excellent location, pleasant room, first rate management.

Minor incident with overzealous security (handled superbly by management and staff), small bathroom.

This was our second stay in a month, this time for 2 nights. The room was pleasant, not as good as the room on our previous stay, but adequate. The bathroom was very small, which would be an inconvenience for a couple on a longer stay (no problem for a single). We had an incident on our second night when an overzealous security officer accused me of bringing a girl to my room (my wife is Asian) but the reaction of the staff and management to that incident was overwhelmingly positive and more than compensated for the insult and inconvenience. I mentioned the incident to demonstrate how good hotel management can overcome such problems. We will definitely stay here again.

Shopping Tip : Opposite the wonderful Patpong street markets - be prepared to haggle, heavily!

Good location, friendly staff, large well furnished room.

Nothing too negative, although the hotel is getting a little tired and I'd prefer a lower rate.

I used to stay at this hotel when it was the Sheraton Bangkok, in the late 70s/early 80s. The bathroom looks the same, but seems to have aged well. We stayed only one night and I chose this hotel for its location which we were meeting friends for dinner nearby. I was not disappointed and I love the liveliness of the Patpong area. All in all the hotel seems well maintained with friendly staff. One small point, oddly, although were reserved as a couple, there was only one bathrobe and one pair of slippers, so perhaps their internal communications need to be improved. All in all, a good 8+ out of 10.

Nightlife Tip : Right opposite Patpong ;)

Location is best for entertainment

It seems to be old already

Close to the stations and convenient to go anywhere, Thai massage, Karaoke and shopping. Building is old, however, there is enough hotel lobby space. Hotel clerk is very friendly and takes care of the guests well even late mid night. Breakfast service was also good and atmosphere was bright. Clerk atitude was also good.

Nightlife Tip : This is best advantage to close Taniya / Papon area.
