Good experience but a little old. If you are looking for a good location near to Train line (about 600m walk) surrounded with a lot of shopping. You can consider this Hotel. Just 600m walk to Siam Square.
Shopping Tip:
Near to Siam Square which have lots of shopping and food.

take a taxi or tuk-tuk to shopping centre platinum, it's massive(i think 7 floors), 10 times better then mbk.

Clean and lovely hotel but furnishes too dated

Hotel was opened two decades back, the furnishes are too old and the beddings and pillows were not comfortable. However, friendly and hospitable service staff tried to make up for this weakness by keeping the room clean and by promptly providing additional pillows upon our request. Internet service is chargeable, this is a disappointment as wifi should be provided free in this modern age. Location of hotel is not very ideal but good enough, except that much efforts are always required to make it understood to the public transport drivers when describing the hotel and its location, probably a campaign to act as reminder of its awareness to the public is badly needed as well.
Shopping Tip:
Try the Platinum Mall, good bargains and wide variety for fashion goods. However, be prepared for curt treatments from the sales staff.

My stay has been wonderful with daily free news papers both international and local papers available.
The morng breakfast was great with lots of choices of English & Local delights
Shopping Tip:
Shopping has been make easy with the hotel conveniently located near MBK, Siam Square, Chinatown and taxis are available to bring visitors anywhere outside bangkok downtown area.

Large rooms, clean & close to Siam

Second time we stayed here. The rooms are large and clean (40m2 or so), have all that you need and the AC is very powerful.
Good lap pool outside, and just3 minutes walk to a large Tesco Lotus and food court. The MBK centre is another 10-12 minutes wal or a 30baht tuktuk.
Downside - they charge a lot for internet, and the minibar prices are about double any bar I've been in (120baht for a small beer when they are usually 50-60 in a bar or 30 in a 7-11)
