Make sure to sleep in long sleeves and pants.

Close to the port, but pretty far down the street from the rest of the town. Sheets were dirty, room had ants, awoke in the middle of the night to a spider crawling on my arm. Hotel was advertised as having satellite/cable TV but had no CNN. Also had roosters right outside my window that started making noise before sunrise. Only hotel I've stayed at in Asia where the person at the front desk spoke no English. Compared to where others have stayed and what they've paid, the $15 Agoda rate I got was definitely a rip off.

This hotel is only 200 meters from the Thai-Laos border crossing, so an easy walk. Friendly staff, wifi, river views from balcony outside room.

Very close to the border crossing

We only stayed one night in this hotel to set us up for the border crossing the next day. It was grand, the room was clean with air con and a fan. The beds were comfy. The receptionist was very nice and helpful. There was a cockerel right outside our room which woke us up at sunrise but that was okay because we were getting picked up early anyway.
