Comfortable stay spoiled by small things
Large room, very comfortable firm bed
7
Very comfortable romantic boutique hotel. We had a nice time but small things spoiled the overall experience.
We got upgraded to larger suite, huge rooms, great bathroom and really nice firm bed.
But room had lukewarm hot water for some reason, slow internet connection limited to only 2 devices, limited mini-bar drinks, TV too small and a HKG family with 2 maids that was so loud it destroyed all the peaceful romantic ambiance out of the setting.

This hotel is good if you want to spend time in the hotel more than sightseeing. The hotel is nice for just relaxing in it, swim, and have afternoon tea. It's not too far from popular restaurants by the river. The rooms could be a little more private. Although there are trees and bushes along the walkway right by the rooms, other guests can still look inside the rooms quite easily. Other than that the breakfast was good but not great. Still, overall a good hotel.
Nightlife Tip:
Nice restaurant/pub nearby the hotels by the river. A great spot to visit.

Five star luxury and the comfort of home!
Beautiful spacious suites in a lush garden setting, with an incredibly helpful and friendly staff.
10
the most wonderful hotel experience i have ever had. the 137 pillars is not a 5 star hotel, it is a 10 home experience. there was no part of my stay that was less than perfect. the beautiful spacious suite with all the amenities was extremely comfortable. the small garden off the bathroom with the outdoor shower was unique (i never used the indoor shower). the staff was incredibly helpful and the smiles were genuine. i was walking back to the hotel one evening (i was 4-5 kilometers away) when one off the front desk staff recognized me and stopped to offer me a ride. never had that kind of service before. i enjoyed chiang mai, but would consider returning just experience the 137 pillars again.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
One of the highlights of my visit to Chiang Mai was the Night Market. A large and fascinating open market that operates from 5:00 in the afternoon until midnight. I'm not one who enjoys shopping but just walking through the market was an experience. That and the daytime flower market and fruit market were worth the visit. All three were within a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel. Lots of other things to see and do that I didn't have time for.

Medium-sized hotel with excellent staffs and room!
The room is well-designed with great functions
9
The hotel room is very well designed with many functions and facilities. I love the outdoor shower and the balcony where you can enjoy chatting in front of the room with outside fresh air. At night, the hotel is quite and peaceful as it's not next to the main road so you can really enjoy the quite night. The location is pretty close to everything so it's just perfect for me.
Restaurant Tip:
There are so many excellent restaurants and great food around the area (if you have a car or get around by taxi). It's not far at all.

Nice hotel, great service
9.7
We are impressed since the first step into this hotel. The atmosphere was very nice. The front staff was very friendly and humble. They seemed to memorize all the guests staying at the hotel. The accommodation was outstanding. The services were great. Breakfast was nice.
We will definitely come stay here if we have another chance to visit Chiang Mai.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Hotel is located at the center of Chiangmai so it's convenient to go quite anywhere. There are several famous restaurants and food parlors nearby. For example, Khao Soi, Beef Noodles, etc. The hotel staff is very helpful and has good service mind. We are really impressed with the hotel accommodation and services.

Nearly Perfect
low key luxury, a high degree of privacy, great use of the space and landscaping to make it seem larger than it was, professional but friendly staff
9.3
I am usually highly critical of hotels, but I have amost no negative comments about our stay at 137 Pillars. If I were to be very picky, I would say the breakfast buffet selection is one star off of stellar - especially in the selection of fruits, which one would expect to be broad and exotic. The items to order on the menu, however, were tasty and imaginative. The other slightly negative (more surprising than negative) was the very expensive cost of the taxi transfer from/to the airport, which were so much higher than taking comfortable available alternatives. It seemed like an odd place to put high charges, when the rest of the extras at the hotel were either very reasonable or included - the complimentary mini bar and cofee machine were much appreciated, for example. Otherwise, I can only say that this is a magnificant property, and we enjoyed our stay immensely. One last "complaint": the room and facilities were so lovely we had to force ourselves to go and see anything in Chiang Mai!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
really enjoyed our segway tour, as well as an all day tour with untouched thailand which inluded alms offering, elephant ride and rafting; other top experience was the saturday (not sunday) walking market where we enjoyed shopping and eating off the stalls - you must go early - we arrived at about 6pm and that was on the late side - by the time we left at about 8pm it was way to crowded to enjoy it, but maybe that was unusual due to the xmas/new year period?
