Baan Saen Doi Hotel Chiang Mai Info
Ten minutes drive from Chiang Mai International Airport, in the well-trodden hills of northern Thailand, Baan Saen Doi has somehow eluded the platinum-card-carrying class. Featuring classic Lanna architecture and authentic hill-tribe craftsmanship within, this two-year-old hidden gem comprises just seven suites and four rooms, making it feel less like a hotel and more like the sumptuous home of its owners. Tennis courts, a spa, private balconies, bathtubs built for two and butler service make for a memorable guest experience. Guests can also enjoy the art gallery cum restaurant next door with dishes like shiitake mushrooms in salty lime sauce and Burmese pork curry, holding their own against the gallery's modern art and ancient artifacts.

They always welcome you with smile and kindness and assists you for any requests.
We have stayed 2 nights at first and another 2 nights after coming back from the other city.
The first 2 nights, we took a standard room. It was a large room, almost 50m2.
Second stay they have upgraded to the suite room and it was really huge and provided us comfort. This boutique hotel is located far from the city center so that it is recommended for somebody who wants to enjoy quiet time with your partner, family or friends.
The restaurant is excellent. The food is tasty and cheap. There is a singer or pianist coming for weekend.
Overall we loved this hotel so much and are planning to come back here next year.
The hotel is located about 15mins far from the airport.
There is no shuttle bus to take you to the hotel so that you will have to pay for a taxi every time going back to the hotel.
Do not ask for a taxi from the hotel because it is more expensive than what it is.
It is better finding a local taxi guy and get a business card and negotiate with them to come and pick you up for any rides. That's what we did and we saved a lot money.
The breakfast is good, but only 2 choices. Traditional Thai or European Breakfast. There is no changes, everyday same.

Great service, the staff and owners remembered us from our last visit. Very quiet location, close to airport. The treatments at the affiliated spa next door are as good as ever
Quiet location, somewhat out of the way from the city centre, restaurants and main attractions of Chiang Mai
An excellent boutique hotel in the modern Lanna style. The owners are active patrons of local sculpters, textile artists and painters and it shows in the ambiance and design of the hotel.
This is a small, intimate property of only ten rooms or so, but the affiliated sports club/pool complex/restaurant and spa give it the facilities of a much larger property. without the crowds or glitz.
It is out of the way from Chiang Mai's city centre but offers a perfect place to unwind for a few days after a long plane trip or for singles, couples and families with young children looking for a quiet, friendly and safe base from which to explore the area.
Hotel Feature Tip : The spa at Baan Saen Doi should not be missed for top quality care in a luxe environment.

The room was spacious, well appointed and the bed was both expansive and very comfortable. The bathroom was a good size and the adjoining shower room a pleasure to use. The decor of the hotel was unusual to the Western visitor and added to the peace and tranquility. \n\nEverything was clean and of good quality. The wireless internet connection was fast and free. The receptionist, she was actually far more than that, was graceful, beautiful, knowlegeable of Thailand and the Chiang Mai area, spoke fluent English, and always had time for the guests. \n\nThe hotel provided Thai newspapers in English, The Bangkok Post and The Nation, as well as quality magazines in English. The TV was multi channel and of a suitable size for the room. The balcony was a place to sit and reflect on the activities of the day. \n\nThe restaurant, in a separate building provided excellent cuisine and good service. Breakfast was served in the hotel itself, and catered for the Western taste. The cutlery, crockery etc, were all of a good quality adding to the enjoyment of the food. The freshly squeezed orange juice an antidote to the excesses of the night before. \n\nAnyone who is looking for some peace and relaxation should visit this hotel.
Overall the hotel was a pleasure to spend time in. Everything was provided to ensure a memorable stay, and when I visit Chiang Mai again I will certainly book this hotel again. If you are looking for loud music and lots of hustle this is not for you, but if you want some quality time to relax, unwind and be well looked after then I recommend the hotel to all potential visitors.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Make the trip to Doi Inthernon (Not sure the spelling is correct). The drive is through some beautiful countryside and mountains. There are many waterfalls to visit on the way and the views at the summit are breathtaking.
