Great service, the staff and owners remembered us from our last visit. Very quiet location, close to airport. The treatments at the affiliated spa next door are as good as ever

Quiet location, somewhat out of the way from the city centre, restaurants and main attractions of Chiang Mai

An excellent boutique hotel in the modern Lanna style. The owners are active patrons of local sculpters, textile artists and painters and it shows in the ambiance and design of the hotel. This is a small, intimate property of only ten rooms or so, but the affiliated sports club/pool complex/restaurant and spa give it the facilities of a much larger property. without the crowds or glitz. It is out of the way from Chiang Mai's city centre but offers a perfect place to unwind for a few days after a long plane trip or for singles, couples and families with young children looking for a quiet, friendly and safe base from which to explore the area.

Hotel Feature Tip : The spa at Baan Saen Doi should not be missed for top quality care in a luxe environment.

The room was spacious, well appointed and the bed was both expansive and very comfortable. The bathroom was a good size and the adjoining shower room a pleasure to use. The decor of the hotel was unusual to the Western visitor and added to the peace and tranquility. \n\nEverything was clean and of good quality. The wireless internet connection was fast and free. The receptionist, she was actually far more than that, was graceful, beautiful, knowlegeable of Thailand and the Chiang Mai area, spoke fluent English, and always had time for the guests. \n\nThe hotel provided Thai newspapers in English, The Bangkok Post and The Nation, as well as quality magazines in English. The TV was multi channel and of a suitable size for the room. The balcony was a place to sit and reflect on the activities of the day. \n\nThe restaurant, in a separate building provided excellent cuisine and good service. Breakfast was served in the hotel itself, and catered for the Western taste. The cutlery, crockery etc, were all of a good quality adding to the enjoyment of the food. The freshly squeezed orange juice an antidote to the excesses of the night before. \n\nAnyone who is looking for some peace and relaxation should visit this hotel.

I have no cons.

Overall the hotel was a pleasure to spend time in. Everything was provided to ensure a memorable stay, and when I visit Chiang Mai again I will certainly book this hotel again. If you are looking for loud music and lots of hustle this is not for you, but if you want some quality time to relax, unwind and be well looked after then I recommend the hotel to all potential visitors.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Make the trip to Doi Inthernon (Not sure the spelling is correct). The drive is through some beautiful countryside and mountains. There are many waterfalls to visit on the way and the views at the summit are breathtaking.

Excellent Silent location, well done resort in terms of cleaniness, fixtures.

Too far from nightlife and actual city. Hard to find even tuk tuk or taxi to reach back once you in city. No restaurent in resort, you will have to walk couple of hundred mtrs to restaurent and SPA is a total hoax as staff speaks hardly any english besides they don't seem medically qualified to advise the kind of treatment or spa needed for causes you explain to them.

The location of the resort is excellent ONLY if you are looking for slient, romantic vacation or else it is worse IF you are seeking night life, it is hard to find taxi or even tuk tuk to come back once you are in town. There is no in-dine restaurent in the same premises, you are have to walk couple of hundred mtrs to go to another building for food! SPA is a total hoax, staff speaks hardly any english and my wife has skin reaction due to wrong spa treatment given to her, costed me fortune when we visited doctor in town.

This hotel was absolutely wonderful! I have never seen such personalized service and friendly staff in my life. The rooms are beautiful in decor, and the scenery is just as breath taking. Make sure you opt for the coffee at breakfast, you will remember it always.

In the middle of no-where, but this is why you stay there - to be away from the crowd.

I would definitely recommend a few nights stay at this small boutique hotel. The service is outstanding and the food tops any fancy joint in the city. The amount to personalized hospitality make it worth the bucks. You will have to have transport to any attractions, but it's worth the drive. I will definitely stay there again next time I am in Chiang Mai.

Shopping Tip : Do not try to walk on the busy highway/road leading to the hotel. Always get transport. We found it quite dangerous in the morning.

Beautiful, comfortable, quiet.

A little far from town.

This was our favorite place that we stayed at in Thailand. The staff were very friendly and they bent over backwards to be helpful. The breakfast was excellent. We went during the slow season and we were the only ones there. But there are only 4 rooms anyway so this is a great place if you want something quiet. The design of the building and the furniture are really tasteful and unique. The place was very clean as well. Only drawback was that its a bit far from the city center, about a 10 minute taxi or tuk tuk ride, but really that was no problem.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : If the hotel calls you a taxi its more expensive. Try to get your own metered taxi. Insist that the driver use the meter and don't let them try to charge more.

The facilities are typical of a small hotel but this is what we wanted. You can stay in a high rise anywhere, the decor and design is very traditional of the area which helps you get a feel of the area and the people. A lot of thought has gone into making your stay very enjoyable.

Hotel Feature Tip : Tea and coffee facilites are available if you request them for your room on arrival.

We stayed six days and had the same boring small breakfast every day. Staff is helpful but not knowledgeable, i.e. no suggestions could be made for trips to and around Chiang Mai. Only expensive transport services were available to Chiang Mai, I paid half the price when I arranged it myself. Bikes or motorbikes should be made available for small trips. I had expected a small hotel in a nice and green environment/ garden rather than a big house in a villa compound with no garden at all. Finally this is NOT a 5 star, I would rank it 3 at the max.

Travel tip : Stay here for one night only on the way to other destinations.

You cannot get any hot drinks or food in the room at other times. There is a very good restaurant attached to this hotel, but this is in another building that is a five-minute walk away. And it is not like having a coffee shop or bar that you can just pop into for that beer or coffee at the end of day. We did not find this a problem. But we think many people would like to have this facility. The room did have a mini fridge. This only had beer, cola, and water in it. Tea and coffee making facilities are pretty much standard all over the world now.
