Charming hotel with beautiful garden/pool located just outside the (hectic) old city center but eventhough peacefull and very quite.
The showers are not very convenient; No consistent supply of hot water and varying water pressure.
Banthai is a very nice hotel decorated in a beautiful modern Lanna style. The personnel was very friendly and willing to help. The hotel has a very nice (but rather small) pool next to a small bar/restaurant. It was remarkable how quite the place was, eventhough the hotel is located in the center of town. We enjoyed staying here for a few nights.

a tranquil get away in the middle of the city.
Once entering through the gate into banthai village it was utterly peaceful.
the pool was cristal clear. The staff were v attentive and friendly. The room was great loved the mini plunge bath and rain shower. The breakfast was pretty good too. The price was v good value would definately recommend to a friend. Altough there is a bar it wasn't very busy in the evenenings so even though we were right by it there wasn't much noise.
Travel tip : make sure you dont get confused about where you are if you go out the back entrance to the hotel.

Good area to walk around old city and night market
Dirty short pant (previous customers - might be long time ago)inside the closet. Charge higher transit fee to airport than agoda does.
1. Good area to walk around old city and night market. 2. It will be better to provide proper/correct trip advice(pro and con) for local tours available. 3. Check/clean room completely before new customer checking in.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : walking distance from night market and old city.

breakfast, pool, location.
We only stayed a night but it was a very nice place. The location was good, very close to restaurants and shopping but the nature of the city is that you will need transport to lots of places anyway. Breakfast was included and very good. The pool looked nice but we never got in. Staff was very friendly and helpful, rooms were nice and comfortable. Great value for the money.

central in city - nice and friendly personal
it was difficult to take a bath with hot water - old system. a lot of moscitos in the evening and nigth
The hotel is nice and small. The staff are very kind, friendly, and helpful. We ordered a Junior Suite and got one at first floor, but we had no hot water, and the shower was defect. the staff did their best to help the problems, but they couldn,t so we had to change room after the first day. the breakefast was international served by the pool - very charming. The pool is ok. the hotel is very near - in walkin distance - to old city and nightmarket.
Shopping Tip : night market

I enjoy my stay in Banthai village hotel. The staff is really friendly and always happy to help in anything. it is a very small hotel but you will find peace in it. it is a wonderful place to have a rest and enjoy your holidays. i will recommend this place to all kind of people. friend or family travelling together.
Shopping Tip : in chiang mai market when you are dealing the price you can divide per 2 the price given by the shop.

Lovely pool, clean rooms and bathrooms, friendly helpful staff.
We were very happy during our stay so have no negative comments.
My husband and I stayed at the Banthai Village in April 2009 as part of our Honeymoon trip around Thailand. The hotel was perfect for us and in a quiet location. We booked a day trip at the reception and they helped us tailor the trip just for us at a price we were happy with.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : We used 'Mr Whiskey' for our day trip, we booked it throught the Banthai Hotel reception. We had such a laugh elephant riding (that's all, none of that playing football/painting nonsense), bamboo rafting and swimming under a waterfall. I was 4 months pregnant at the time so it was nice and easy going.

great location, unique layout, and friendly people
shower went from hot to cold when using
the property was very nice, and everyone was friendly and helpful The location where the property is situated is very romantic, and surrnded by trees. The pool area where the breakfast is served is very pretty, and the waitstaff good. they do have wifi in the main lobby area and also two computers if one doesn't have wifi. Convient to event food, and night life. The market nearby. would stay there again
Hotel Feature Tip : near night market

Staff were very friendly and so helpful. The hotel location is very central but also very quiet, a little bit of a retreat from the hustle of outside. Rooms are spacious and the pool is gorgeous.
Hotel was fantastic, no cons here!

beautiful facilities and grounds.
service and staff are very friendly.
good location.
somewhat expensive.
upper floor rooms are better.
a grimy alley leads to this beautiful hotel set in lovely surrounds. the staff are helpful and attentive and it's only a short walk or tuk tuk to the old city. plenty of good eats nearby exp. an excellent vegetarian restaurant just a block toward the old town that does cooking classes - worth the trip in itself.
i'd originally been given a ground floor room nest to the restaurant which actually wasn't noisy at all.
the only drawback regarding this hotel is that's a bit more expensive than other (albeit less well appointed) hotels nearby.... but you get what you pay for here.
Restaurant Tip : the vegetarian restaurant (can't remember the name) about a block toward the old town has cooking classes and is definitely the pick here (and I'm not a vegetarian).
Also go to the WWF endorsed elephant sanctuary for an overnighter.

A serene and beautiful environment. Staff was very friendly and breakfast was delicious.
My husband and I stayed at BanThai Village for two nights. We did not want to leave and will be coming back to stay for a longer period of time! The hotel was serene and beautiful tucked at the back of a narrow street. The hotel was walking distance to the Old City and the Night Bazaar. Our room was clean and mosquito free!
