A boutique property, the Bodhi Serene Hotel also treats guests to touches of the ancient Lanna tradition mixed with the conveniences of the modern world. Named after the tree under which the Buddha was enlightened, this boutique hotel aims to enlighten guests with a relaxing holiday in Chiang Mai. Its quiet ambiance amidst a very busy district. Proximity to the most interesting pagodas. Nice clean pool. Big round bath for two! Extremely nice staff. Good solid bed. We had a room downstairs, and could walk directly into the garden! Oh yes, and the breakfast is excellent, with all possible Western and Thai dishes.

Nothing really. One thing that I can think of is to have two chairs on all terraces: I noted that some rooms had stools, others none, and another one two nice chairs.

We stayed here for three days only, but because of the proximity to many interesting sites, we did most things on foot. We feel that we got a pretty good impression of this fantastic city. There are some fine restaurants nearby. We recommend going out in the evening and walk along the safe streets and enter temple complexes illuminated, quiet, and get a real feel of life in the old days when these temples were erected and their continuing importance up to present. Of course you can order a taxi or a 'tuktuk', 3-wheeled motorcycle cab, to go anywhere. The hotel has a permanently (wo)manned travel agency and we booked a trip to the waterfalls, a ride on elephanst (not as crazy as it may seem; it was actually quite cool), going down the river on a raft (wet bottoms the rest of the day!), and a nice walk along though the forest and along rice fields to see some villages.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Make sure to visit the old temple nearby, the Wat Chang Man, with the damaged tip. It is nicely illuminated in the evening, with budda's on all four sides high up in caves up on the dome; sitting there in their shining gold. And elephants at the base, which we read now were quite unique. It is just one block away! Another tip: go to the other side of the river by crossing the foot bridge and take a lunch break at Regina's.

- rooms: the bathroom with a round tube is fantastic - staff: very very kind and helpful - location: downtown but in quiet zone

- tour organization

The best hotel we've found in Thailand. Must go. But be aware that the tour organization is not worth the hotel. They sell the same packages you can finde everywhere without any guarantee. We have not been satisfied by the 3 day tour.

Shopping Tip : Must see the Sunday night market!

Location, location, location - not too far from anything. Quiet and peaceful

Bed too hard (but most are in Asia).

Bodhi Serene was a place of serenity from the moment of walking through the door. It was in a great location - walking distance to night bazaar but you might as well take a tuk tuk for 60 baht. Also close to the Saturday night and Sunday night walking street markets - not to be missed! The room was nicely presented and the huge circular bath was something to behold!! The pool was most welcome after a morning after hard bargaining. The staff were very helpful and informative.

Hotel Feature Tip : Make sure you take part in the giving of alms to the local monks which is done early on a Wednesday morning. The hotel provide the food etc and instruction (at no charge). It was a lovely gesture by the hotel to let you participate in a local custom.
