Quiet and relaxing atmosphere with North Thai decor, warm and kind staff

None

It's a quite nice place for a relaxing stay in Chiangmai, small and beautiful. You cannot expect various hotel features that large size hotel-chains provide, such as 24-hour room service, but instead, you can rent a bicycle and visit nearby market or even seven-eleven and fulfill your hanger with local favorites. We arrived late as we took the last flight from Bangkok, but there was no problem with late checking in. Of course I have informed of this at the time of making booking, and also I had called the hotel before leaving Bangkok and asked them to make sure to keep the room for us. Also, the couple who operate the tour desk inside the hotel was nice and kind, and their service was good. We used their half-day guided tour around Chiangmai, as well as airport transport on the day we left Chiangmai. I would like to return there for sure if I am visiting Chiangmai again.

Shopping Tip : In a walking distance, there is a local market, and you can buy all kinds of stuff. Also there is a seven-eleven and Lotus Express, if you need to buy modern merchandise.

For the cost we had a very comfortable stay and found the staff extremely helpful. We embarked on the recommended elephant tour and whilst it was a no frills (travelling in an open truck) it was an adventure that won't be forgotten

watch the corners on the beds - we all went away with wounded chins!!

Good location, large rooms including bathroom, great garden outlook, quiet

Tour information was somewhat limited and options were relatively expensive compared with outside sources

We enjoyed 4 nights at the Bodhi Serene. We were told that it would be the rainy season and therefore not a peak time. There was only one night when rain keep us at the hotel rather than eating out. We enjoyed the central garden courtyard and the way the rooms opened to this quiet area. Our groundfloor room was great and the bathroom had a huge bath. We found it easy to walk to many places from the hotel and easy to negotiate various forms of transport from the street outside. We would definitely stay again and recommend this hotel.

Travel tip : Everyone talks about the Sunday street market but the Saturday market was full of locals and had a great atmosphere.

The service was excellant and the rooms are really cool. It has a great location. We got an upgrade to a suite which was much appreciated. we were so happy we extended our stay.

Breakfast was only ok

We really enjoyed our stay at this centrally located oasis in the middle of the old city. The staff were really helpful and friendly and the extra money it cost was worth it. The hotel offer a free shuttle bus to the night market and giving alms/feeding the monks in the morning which is a great expeerience.

Restaurant Tip : Very nice cheap and cheerful dutch cafe/bar across the street called the Rose cafe

Rooms are ok, but dark and quite sober

They offer complimentary WIFI, which does't work for IPhones. Spent have hours to do something about it and blame y're Iphone in the end. Nothing solved.

Although not opened too long ago, the hotel already suffers from the Thai decease: inadequate maintenance, friendly but inexperienced personnel. The hotel is not clean, the pond is dirty. The location is not very convenient if you want to be in the neighborhood of the night market and the nice restaurants.

Location, elegant style, architecture, interior design, food, privacy and overall value compared to similar properties. I also enjoyed breakfast which is served by the garden.

After 3 days at the Bodhi Serene, there were no significant cons worth noting.

Serene is the perfect description for this hotel. It is a calm oasis in the center of Chiang Mai’s historic old town. It’s truly luxurious but without all the fuss of a larger hotel. Everything felt intimate and personal but never intrusive. It’s also a very new property so every aspect felt fresh. My favorite part of the hotel was the architecture and design. A lot of thought went into every detail. I would recommend this property for families, couples or solo travelers who appreciate smaller luxury properties with a personal touch in the center of town.

Wonderful salt water swimming pool. Amazing thai or traditional american food served at main restaurant next to pool. Breakfast included each morning. Affordable, yet beautiful accomodations.

Nothing!

An overall feel of calm hits you as you walk into this beautiful hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful, rooms are large and beautiful, and the pool is the perfect place to relax after a busy day of sightseeing or traveling. The hotel staff helped us to book our elephant tour for the next day as soon as we arrived. They also helped to book our spa services at a local spa for later that evening. They even drove us to and from the spa - truly wonderful staff and service. The rooms are large, with a beautiful bathroom housing a separate tub and shower. Rooms are well appointed with classic yet modern Thai furnishings, flat screen TV and luxurious bath robes. We chose to eat at the hotel for our first meal arriving in Chiang Mai and were not disappointed. They have a large menu of both traditional Thai dishes, as well as North American favourites for those less adventurous. We had a few Thai dishes and fruity cocktails and they were absolutely delicious. There is an open air room a few feet from the pool with two computers set up with complimentary internet. It was great to take a short break from the sun/pool to check in on emails and the news, and it was nice that the internet room had the same open feel as the rest of the hotel. The pool is wonderful and with a few lounge chairs scattered around it. Because it was low season while we visited (July), we had no problem finding a place to sit. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Chiang Mai. It's a smaller, boutique hotel with a spa like feel from the moment you enter the large wooden doors. It was the perfect little retreat after leaving the hussle and bussle of Bangkok.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Ask the hotel to help you find an elephant tour. They have a couple companies they work with, and we had a fantastic tour to ourselves - just the three of us, the driver, the guide and the people who worked on the elephant camp. It was a reputable elephant farm and we spent the day with these extraordinary animals - feeding, bathing, riding them. Very intimate and breathtaking experience.

great ambience, great location, and the hotel restaurant food was exceptional

We took a trip to Chiang Mai for our wedding anniversary and liked the look of the Bodhi Serene online. We were not disappointed. The location is great, within easy walking distance of most tourist attractions in and near the Old Town (and only 10 min drive from the airport). The hotel staff are very friendly, the accommodations were spotless. The food, especially in the restaurant, was excellent. We normally avoid hotel restaurants because they are so expensive, but the prices here were cheaper than those outside. It was a tranquill oasis in the midst of the hustle and bustle, and we would heartily recommend it.

Restaurant Tip : Don't waste your time looking for a Thai food restaurant elsewhere when you have such a good one in the hotel.

* nice location: quiet, hidden in lanes, but still within walking distance to restaurants, coffee shops, laundry, travel agents and the main street. (but the pharmacy opposite the street was closed during our stay )* Spacious, comfortable and clean guest room. * friendly staff * fast and free internet in the air-conditioned library on the 2nd floor

* limited TV channels * the variety of the breakfast could be better

Highly recommend this boutique hotel. It is everything as advertised. 250 THB by the resort car to airport may seem a little extreme, but the staff at the reception was glad to book a taxi for 150 THB for us. It’s still a little pricy (the taxi from airport to old city is a fixed rate of 120THB), but if you have to take an early morning flight before 8AM, it’s not quite possible to spot a tuk tuk on the street, and metered taxi is very rare in town.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The Sunday Walking street is a “must”; When the weather is nice, you can rent a Honda 125 cc automatic bike for 200 THB per day, to visit the Tiger Kingdom which is 20 Km north of the town, or go up to the mountain 16 km northwest of the town. Great fun!

central location nice pool, great staff, lots of restaurants and bars nearby

no view from the hotel room.Breakfast was pretty basic

A nice littel boutique Hotel, centrally located but away from the main Market areas.Staff were very attentive and the room although quite basic was comfortable. The pool was a welcome release from the heat but could probably benefit from having more sun beds especially when hotel is full.Breakfast was a little disappointing and unless you were there early (before 9am) there wasnt much left. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable about the town.

Good location, within walking distance of many sights in the moated old town. Relaxed, resort-like feel.

The variety of the breakfast buffet could be better. The noise of the frogs at night takes a little getting used to...

Very friendly staff. The rooms face onto an attractive grassy inner court and are accessed via a covered outdoor walkway, giving the place a resort feel. Good internet access: in contrast to many hotels, which provide only free WLAN, there is a comfortable, air-conditioned lounge with two PCs (free for hotel guests) and a printer. The hotel offers a convenient free bus to the night market at 7pm. My room had a sliding partition between bedroom and bathroom and an enormous jacuzzi-like bathtub - would be good for kids, or maybe even a wild party!

Travel tip : I found washing clothes often a problem: due to the humidity, nothing dries properly. There are, however, plenty of places in the vicinity that will wash and dry for only 20 Baht a kilo. Many traveller cafes and restaurants in the surrounding area.

I loved everything about this hotel. The location was good, staff was friendly, breakfast was plentiful, and our room was beautiful. They even provided umbrellas for the rain.

I highly recommend this hotel. We stayed at 4 hotels while we were in Thailand/Cambodia and this was my favorite one. I saw couples and families there and it was good for both. Good central location, walking distance to Wats. It was not small and it was not a huge resort, it was just the right size. There was also a nice pool and a great courtyard. They had a tourist desk to help you with reserving trips too.

Shopping Tip : There is a Sunday Night Market around the corner from the hotel that is huge! Several blocks long and has lots of good prices (better than the night bazaar) and lots of street food to try. I heard the Roti was good but never got a chance to try it.
