Its quiet ambiance amidst a very busy district.
Proximity to the most interesting pagodas.
Nice clean pool. Big round bath for two! Extremely nice staff. Good solid bed. We had a room downstairs, and could walk directly into the garden! Oh yes, and the breakfast is excellent, with all possible Western and Thai dishes.
Nothing really. One thing that I can think of is to have two chairs on all terraces: I noted that some rooms had stools, others none, and another one two nice chairs.
We stayed here for three days only, but because of the proximity to many interesting sites, we did most things on foot. We feel that we got a pretty good impression of this fantastic city. There are some fine restaurants nearby. We recommend going out in the evening and walk along the safe streets and enter temple complexes illuminated, quiet, and get a real feel of life in the old days when these temples were erected and their continuing importance up to present.
Of course you can order a taxi or a 'tuktuk', 3-wheeled motorcycle cab, to go anywhere.
The hotel has a permanently (wo)manned travel agency and we booked a trip to the waterfalls, a ride on elephanst (not as crazy as it may seem; it was actually quite cool), going down the river on a raft (wet bottoms the rest of the day!), and a nice walk along though the forest and along rice fields to see some villages.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Make sure to visit the old temple nearby, the Wat Chang Man, with the damaged tip. It is nicely illuminated in the evening, with budda's on all four sides high up in caves up on the dome; sitting there in their shining gold. And elephants at the base, which we read now were quite unique. It is just one block away!
Another tip: go to the other side of the river by crossing the foot bridge and take a lunch break at Regina's.

- rooms: the bathroom with a round tube is fantastic
- staff: very very kind and helpful
- location: downtown but in quiet zone
The best hotel we've found in Thailand. Must go. But be aware that the tour organization is not worth the hotel. They sell the same packages you can finde everywhere without any guarantee. We have not been satisfied by the 3 day tour.
Shopping Tip : Must see the Sunday night market!

Location, location, location - not too far from anything. Quiet and peaceful
Bed too hard (but most are in Asia).
Bodhi Serene was a place of serenity from the moment of walking through the door. It was in a great location - walking distance to night bazaar but you might as well take a tuk tuk for 60 baht. Also close to the Saturday night and Sunday night walking street markets - not to be missed! The room was nicely presented and the huge circular bath was something to behold!! The pool was most welcome after a morning after hard bargaining. The staff were very helpful and informative.
Hotel Feature Tip : Make sure you take part in the giving of alms to the local monks which is done early on a Wednesday morning. The hotel provide the food etc and instruction (at no charge). It was a lovely gesture by the hotel to let you participate in a local custom.

Rooms are clean and big.
The employees are very welcoming.
Breakfast is good.
The hotel location is very good a minutes from the night market and from many restorants and pubs.
The hotel rooms are new and it was a very plesent staying there.
The employees are all very welcoming and nice. It was grate start in thailand. We return to this hotel for one more night after staying two nights at the first of the trip.
No need to take any tok tok, just walk your way to every place in chang mai - The only distance is from the river side night life.

The real life was far away
Not very satisfied from the breakfast
It was a very nice hotel. At the heart of the old city. Nice pool, quiet, very polite staff. Next to the Sunday market. Unfortunately, the real life wasn't there. We walked every evening around the hotel and old city, and the place seemed abandonned. Easy access to the centre of Chiang Mai with the tuk-tuks.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : every Sunday, there is the Sunday market around the hotel. Really nice.

Close to Sunday Market, nice room and good service.
Bodhi Serene is a nice hotel with good location, good environment and good service. The best is its location, walking distance to the most important attraction - Sunday Market. The room is nice, tidy, cozy and tidy. A pleasant place for a good sleep after crazy shopping in Sunday Market, hiking, rafting etc.

Quiet location, nice water feature in courtyard, nice facilities, quiet room, nice breakfast buffet, helpful staff, close to other sites in old city
wireless signal was very weak in my room, so I had to go to the library to use the hotel computer, not enough hot water to fill the giant bathtub
I was able to get a room here on short notice, after reading all of the positive reviews on Agoda. This was my first trip to Chiang Mai, and I am happy that I chose this hotel instead of some franchise/chain hotel in a commercial area of town. Overall, an excellent choice if you want a quiet, convenient location, good staff support, nice facilities, quiet room, huge bathtub, good selection of food for the breakfast buffet, and a peaceful, restful stay. There are several temples/wats just a few minutes away. A night market is five minutes down the street by Chiang Mai gate. Taxis, rickshaws and baht bus are all close by. I had a good rest stop here, and would recommend this place to people who want to stay in a more non-commercial, laid-back setting. Certainly I would consider staying here again in the future. Thanks to the previous Agoda reviewers for recommending this place.
Nightlife Tip : Night market near Chiang Mai Gatae is five minutes walk away. Mostly locals shop there, and it is a mellow scene. Nice place to buy a few souvenirs and to eat from the food stalls.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. English was good and no request was a problem. Room big and very clean. Resturant prices cheap and food was great. Wonderful pool here to just chill out after a day on the road
They wouldn't let me move in!!!!!
From the outside this hotel looked nothing but once you walk in, it is like a world away from outside. The staff are very friendly and can't do enough for you. The room was fantastic with plenty of space, really clean and very relaxing. Bathroom was awesome with huge shower and bath. The hotel had a wonderful pool, very welcome after being out in the heat all day! Resturant was cheap and food was great....beer also cheap for hotel prices. We left our bags with the hotel while we took off for a couple of days and felt very safe and secure with them. Would highly recommend this hotel....maybe not back packers price range but cheap enough to chill out for a couple of days and really treat yourself.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Awesome interaction with the elephants in their natural environment. No elephant rides or shows but truly looking after the wellbeing of the elephant. Good prices and great information on area.

- large rooms
- big round badtub
We had a great time in Chiang Mai and in the Bodhi Serene hotel. It's a nice quiet hide-away in the centre of the city. Would defenitely recommend staying here.
If you are in Chiang Mai on a Sunday, don't miss the Sunday night market!!! Good shopping, good food and very very cheap. All locals seem to be out. No need to bargain as the prices are fixed and very low.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Do a Thai cooking class, really good fun. We went to cooking school "A lot of Thai" and can really recommend! Small groups, cook speaks perfect English and food is awesome.

rooms had great character and views.
Spacious and very clean.
Close to everything including the night markets.
Everything about the hotel was spaceious and clean. We had an upper floor room with easy access and a view from the balcony of a grassed court yard surrounded by water cannels.
The bed and finishings were of good quality and made for a very comfortable stay. You dont have the feeling of being too close to your neighbours and the hotel has a central meeting and dinning area near the pool that is very inviting and relaxing. I was sorry that I couldnt stay longer.
I will be returning for another visit for sure.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Dont leave without visiting the temples in the area.

Beautiful, peaceful, comfortable bed, big bath-tub, near the Sunday Market, free Wi-fi
Walls seems to be slightly thin - you can hear noises from other rooms
The hotel is a real gem hidden in a quiet street within the old-city. Stepping into the reception area immediately gave me a feeling that I have made the right choice, as the design and decor feels natural and beautiful. Check-in was a breeze (just providing your passport and filling in a one-page form) and off you go to your room.
Room's spacious, bath-tub's huge, bed's comfortable, it's like home away from home. Staff was courteous and helpful, and they do give good suggestions on where to get good food.
During the first night, water started leaking form the air-con. Made a complaint the next morning before we went out, and when we came back everything was back to normal. Other than that, and the slightly thin walls, everthing else was perfect. I would strongly recommend this hotel to any first time visitor to chiang mai as you can focus on your sightseeing and other activities while having a carefree and comfortable "home" to come home to everynight.
