1) The hotel is cheap, central and easy to get to. It can be seen across Chiang Mai via it's high neon red sign. 2) It has a very good breakfast buffet. and a good enclosed outdoor pool. The Indoor gym is extensive, steam and sauna rooms are also good and the Jacuzi is large able to fit a large number of people. The jacuzi, steam and saun are provided separatley for males and females from within the changing rooms. 3) The staff are (except the door men) are very attentive and eager to please. (As an example on e of my daughters is vegatarian and there wasn't much vegatarian food on the poolside menu. When we asked about vegetarian food the chef came to see us and offered to make anything on the current menu in a vegetarian format. Not many hotels could have done this). 4) If you intend going on a jungle trek they will accomodate your luggage in safety until you return, even though you're not paying for the room whilst not there. 5) There's a 7-11, a pharmacy and a laundry service opposite the hotel, where you can buy anything you need. 6) Walk out of the hotel and turn right and you're in the night shopping bazzar. Close enough to be able to walk there in under 90 seconds, yet far enough to avoid the noise. 7) Walk out of the hotel and turn left and you will be able to get cheap massages in the evening from around 120 Bhat per an hour!!

1) It's not a 4 star. At best it's a 3 star. 2) There is very little difference between superior, deluxe or Dynasty rooms (not suites), except the floor you are on.

Although the appearance of the hotel's rooms didn't live up to our expectations, we had an enjoyable stay and would recommend the hotel to anyone for price and location. We also took a 2 day trek with "Buddy's Tours" and a half day cookery course with the "Orchid Thai Cookery School", both were thoroughly eenjoyable. Especially the jungle elephant ride which was part of the trek. We used the laundrey service in one of the shops opposite and even gave them our muddy trainers from the jungle trek, all which came back as brand new. My advice to anyone going there would be 1) Book everything via the internet you will save up to 80%. 2) If doing a trek, DON'T wear shorts. Yes you do look better in them and you are cooler, but your legs will be full of Mosquito, plant and the odd wasp stings. Read the treks advice pages they are good advice. Don't take too much with you as it's you who has to carry it. Prepare to get very wet during the bamboo rafting. Take a few resealable lunch bags to keep your valuables in inside your pockets during the rafting.

Great Location, Old building but very tidy

Pay for internet, The staff immediately tried to sell us tour packages which was uncomfortable when checking in

Great location, great pool, great fitness center. It was only a 10 minute cab ride from the airport and a very short walk to the night market and many other city attractions. The city of Chiang Mai is a lot slower paced than Bangkok and much more relaxing. Lots of affordable places to eat right around the motel.

Shopping Tip : Internet cafe and laundry very close by!!

Price Location Facilities Attentive staff Good restaurants

All rooms are the same in all grades except the suites. Doormen and concierge are not very attentive or knowledgeable.

Good well located and cheap hotel. Massages can be achieved for as little as 120 Bhats per hour outside the hotel and the night market is also on your doorstep, yet not close enough for the noise to be a nusance. Very good gym, pool, jacuzzi, saun and steam room.

Hotel Feature Tip : When at the poolside bar you can order anything from any hotel menu not just the poolside menu.

The location is excellent and the breakfast supurb. I ordered eggs Benedictine and they were perfect and were part and parcel of the accommodation deal. The bathroom was opulent.

The hotel is a bit dated ,especially the carpet and the rooms are dark. The bars are well stocked but located in a large area so they lack any sort of cosyness.

The hotel is conveneitnly located nearthe night bazaar and anyone willing to walk a mere ten minutes can enjoy a Thai boxing show or go to a googo bar or night club. The doorman are friendly but the receptionists could do with a course in human relations, they were efficient but all request were routinely dealt with and this is what we would not expect in the land of a thousand smiles. Overall , we would stay again, because of its location and the excellent breakfast provided and all this for a very good price.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Thai boxing is just around the corner, the night Bazaar is a stone throw away, bars and good shopping for antiques are all conveniently located near the hotel.

Great location (practically on the night bazaar), great service, great food.

none.

Even though it is a 3 star hotel, it looks like a 5 star when you enter. I keep coming back and I am sure I will be there next time, when in Chiang Mai.

Very centralised in the middle of night bazaar.free upgrade which is genuine. Room very comfortale and impressive by deluxe standard.very convenient where transport and food is concerned

Most counter staffs are courteous and efficient except for 2 reception staffs that i personally encountered.they let me waited for 10mins while they shared their renzevour.finally another staff came to serve me and check me in within a couple of mins. I noticed that the ladyboy and lady staff have not done anything productive during this 10mins or so.while i left the counter for the lift they are still giggling and laughing while other guest wait on

what I like with this hotel is that all mode of transport is everywhere in front of this hotel.7-eleven is directly across the road and i purchased most of my drinks ,titbits etc from here.its so convenient.more interesting is the fact that the night bazaar is at the door step. You have cafes, restaurants , pubs jus round the corner. The one thing that I am so satisfied with this online booking is that I get a free upgrade from standarn rm to a deluxe which is big and comfortable. When you mention Centara most locals know where it is

Shopping Tip : You can get most of basic necessities nearby.7-eleven is jus across the road

You can't beat the location, right there at the Night Bazaar. The Breakfast buffet was delicious with a wide variety of dishes to suit any taste. We had an Agoda special promotion to upgraded rooms. The rooms were pristine clean, spacious, great view. And there was endless hot water, for those who love to soak in the bathtub. The staff was friendly and helpful at all times. The pool was very nice, our grandchildren enjoyed swimming.

The concierge did not have knowledge concerning specialty restaurants in Chiang Mai, such as Mexican food, and such. Also, the Tour Agent had sketchy knowledge of many attractions in Chiang Mai.

I have stayed at many hotels in Chiang Mai on business trips. This one was by far the best in the downtown area near the Night Bazaar. For me, location is very important in Chiang Mai. This is the best hotel in the location if you want luxury at a good value. The food here was very good also. This was our first time taking young children with us to Chiang Mai. The staff were very friendly and helpful with the children who were ages 1 and 3. We will definitely come back to the Centara. We love Chiang Mai.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Elephant Treks, Cooking Classes, Art Classes, and the Night Bazaar are wonderful. Avoid extreme sports (X-center), and the 2-bit tourist traps like "Monkey School", they are expensive and disappointing.

Lovely rooms and bathrooms, excellent gym, good pool, good restaurants (good all you can eat buffet deal) at Marco restaurant. Breakfast was v good.

Pool area was big but for the size of the hotel it really needed to have more sun beds. There were 4 lifts but always took forever to arrive! Slight surly reception staff.

This hotel was lovely- not a boutique hotel though if you prefer that but was a big hotel with good facilities and very comfortable rooms with nice extras. The breakfast was very good and there were lots of choice to eat in. The pool area is quite big (just not quite big enough!) and has spa areas with saunas etc. Location was very good- near the night market and near the other big hotels. We got an excellent deal with agoda which made it great value for money

Restaurant Tip : Marco restaurant in hotel does a good 'all you can eat buffet challenge'!

Gym, Swimming Pool, next to Night Bazzar and near Sunday Market.

The lift is very slow. Rooms are old.

I was giving a free upgrade to the Deluxe room due to a promotion by agoda. The deluxe room is not impressive. However, if your plan is just to relax in hotel, the hotel offer swimming pool, gym and suana facilities.

the pool jacuzzi facilities price service awesome

expenisve bars restaurants smelly room

Everything was great the location the staff the facilities are all excellent , the only problem was in the first room we were in on the 12 th floor and the whole floor seemed to have a hideous smell that made me feel sick. The 22nd floor however was fine. The pool gym and jacuzzi are great! Excellent value for money.

best location. large rooms. rich brakefast. friendly staff. clean.

inconvenient location of the reception. very slow elevators. noisy corridors. reception staff - confused.

when we arrived - rooms where not ready yet. more over, it took more than an hour to bring luggage to the room. the hotel is to big to its 4 elevators. all the rest was superb. location, brakefast, rooms, clean, staff, view.

Restaurant Tip : best "banana lotti(rotti)" in thailand, just 50 meters from the hotel, near Mcdonalds. don't leave without eating one.

The service in the hotel was great, as was the location. The hotel itself was quite impressive looking. Returning back to the Centara after a day's tour, other tour members seemed more than a bit envious of our lodging, which cost just a bit over $35. Buffet breakfast was also very good, altho' could use a bit more variety from day to day.

Seriously, the walls are quite thin and you can hear your neighbors quite easily. Take an end unit if you can and pray for courteous neighbors. As others have mentioned, the lifts/elevators as quite slow and insufficient in number. Take a mid-level floor with a view of Doi Suthep and you will be happier. The king sized bed was of poor quality, so soft that it constantly slipped over the edge of the two double spring mattresses and had to be adjusted daily.

Great stay at the Centara Duangtawan Hotel. The front desk staff are very helpful and switched us to a room with a view of Doi Suthep. Everyone including the maid, doormen and restaurant staff were very helpful. The hotel itself at the lobby level is impressive, with high ceilings and well decorated hallways. Although we enjoyed having an end unit with a view of Doi Suthep, the walls as previously mentioned are very thin and our neighbors were very loud. Strangely, it apppeared they ended up having breakfast just behind us the next day. For that reason, as well as problems with a bad mattress, keeping the room with a view was a trade off. However, it was always nice to wake up in the morning with a mountain view. We did pay for a deluxe room and I highly recommend that option. The bathroom is quite large and includes both a bathtub and a shower. The fitness area is a fantastic extra since they have many modern machines as well as free weights. There is a whole floor dedicated to the workout area, as well as the pool. There is also a steam and sauna room. On the downside, the carpets need a good cleaning and damaged in many areas. For some reason, the 11th floor carpet appeared to be better maintained. Altogether, I still thought the hotel was great and with an extremely convenient location. There was a 7-11 directly across from the hotel, with a couple laundry services for 25-30 baht a kilo. There was also a pharmacy next door and of course, the night market just steps away. Recommend the following: 1. Take an end unit with a view of Doi Suthep but be aware of noisy neighbors. 2. Ask for deluxe room or higher class 3. Do not ask for a upper level floor, as the lifts are very slow In general, the Centara Duangtawan is a great play to stay but only if you are tolerant of some inconveniences. If you are the picky type, I recommend you stay elsewhere. If you can put up with a bit of noise and slow lifts, this place is a highly convenient bargain!!!

Nightlife Tip : For a good foot massage(150 baht), go to the Relax & Enjoy massage shop, in the Night market. Its a good massage with none of the funny stuff. For decent food with friendly service at reasonable prices, consider going to Daddy's restaurant. The owner is quite personable.
