Hotel closes to night bazaar, value for money.

The room (business type) is quite old i.e. furniture and floor carpets.

Hotel upgraded our room from deluxe to business type. The furniture and carpets in the room are quite old and the room is not really "spacious". The bath room is big. The hotel only got 4 lifts, we need to wait long time especially when we went down for breakfast in the morning.

Nice spa - had a massage after working out and it was really good, nice gym, large pool, really close to the night market

Rooms need a renovation - a bit small and looks run down, strictly enforce non-smoking rule especially in non-smoking floors, elevators are sloooooooow ... take the stairs going down

Stayed at the Centara on my first visit to Chiang Mai because it was close to the night market and the Old City. The rooms were clean, but dated. The public areas were nice (looks like they were the first ones to be renovated, probably when Centara took over), the gym and the pool were nice too. The Spa was great - great service and great quality massage. The services there are more expensive than what you can get in town but it was worth it. The elevators are slow and not enough for a hotel that size - it can be a pain if you are rushing to get downstairs to make it in time for a tour pick up. All in all I had a good stay inspite of the small set-backs - the Centara does offer good value in Chiang Mai.

Travel tip : Having laundry done at the hotel can get expensive - walk straight out the door, cross the street and right in front are two laundry places that will do it and charge per kilo of clothes. Although they will also try to sell you tours and other things to do in Chiang Mai. If I weren't doing cooking classes the whole time, I would've probably signed up for a tour with them anyway...

Close to night market and fast food chain Starbuck, Macdonald and Burger King etc.

No local TV Channel with daily news and weather forecast in English.

We stay three nights at Centara. The conceige boys are friendly and helpful. you can ask them to help you get a tuk tuk or red pickup taxi to anywhere. But the housekeeping service was not very good. My room floor was not clean and vaccuum during our stay and we have to ask for clean bath towels on the 3rd day.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : If you want to join one day tour to Chiangrai and Goldentriangle, pls make sure you dont have to pay another 300bht for so called Karen village. You will feel cheated. The best place to visit and shop is at maesai border but the tour guide didnt give us enough time and discouraged us from crossing the boarder to Burma. Also can give a miss for the boat cruise (300+20 bht) to Lao's village. These two optional tours only bring you to see tribes selling handicraft, scarves etc from small huts. You better spend the one hour walking toward the giant golden buddha and shop along the street on the left hand side (tour guide will not tell you about these shops). You only discover them on the way out of the pier....

Right next door to the night market with lots of good restaurants to choose from. Realy nice rooms, pool and gym area

internet is not available in rooms, and internet in hotel is only at lobby for 250THB for 2 hours.

Spacious rooms with a nice view over the pool. The pool is a gorgeous area overlooking the city with a nice bar area. The facilities in general are really good, the food at the cafe downstairs was really nice. Definently recommend.

Travel tip : Internet across the road in kodak shop is much cheaper and you can inset your own USBs

Rooms were clean, service was great.

High price internet service that did not work so well on their log in-out page.

I was well pleased with my stay here, actually booked another 3 nights. Short walk the night market, 7-11 just across the street. Overall I was well pleased.

room size, service, location, pool

a/c, elevator

Room: great size (standard hotel room, not guesthouse size); a/c was weak. The elevator was dreadfully slow, and sometimes non-operational so beware if you are in a hurry. The pool was very nice, but can get crowded in the afternoons. Internet is only available if you pay. Location: the location of the hotel was VERY close to the night market, which was why we picked it-- made it very convenient to eat and shop at the night market. Also the hotel is well-known so taxis and tuk-tuks should be able to find it easily.

Travel tip : Across the street from 7-11 and a laundry place (at the time of this review, 30 baht per kg, 1-day turnaround).

Close to night market, Everything you need in a short walk. Great service!

Over priced wireless. 120 minutes for 250 Bht that might work or not. Use internet cafe in the area and don't pay their price

I stay here for several nights and then rebooked again with Agoda for 3 more nights, they kept me in the same room when I actually had a lower rated room for my extra nights. Staff was great, great service. Room was clean, mini bar, clean shower.

Value for money, service with smile, great facilities, ideal location, room size

none

I have to say I was very impressed with this hotel as a whole, I have nothing negative to say about my time here as we felt very well looked after from the first time we entered the hotel. The rooms were large, the service was great and from taking a lot of time comparing similar standard hotels this worked out to be the by far the best value for money, it is also in a very good location being right next to the night bazaar and the surrounding restaraunts. We also found having a tour guide located in the hotel very useful as we were able to arrange transport to our next destination. I highly reccomend this hotel!!

Hotel Feature Tip : Useful tour guide located inside the hotel with competitive rates.

Great location and delicious buffet

What is that smell and style

The hotel is centrally located with easy access to town and night market. However, every time stepping into the room, it has the smelling of tropical mold that will take a few minutes to get used to. The hotel decor sets in the 70's that needs some updating. The flushing noise from the next room is loud enough to awake you in the morning. Otherwise, it is a nice clean and tidy room with great breakfast

I used to have breakfast there a year before my stay this time. They got very good and tasty food. You should not miss it! And this hotel stands on a very good location.

When I got into the room, the smoke smell from previous people was still in there. But a few minutes later, it was ok.

The hotel is quite big. We can go to the Night Bazaar very easily with a few walk steps. The bathroom is also big, nice and clean. From our hotel room, we can see nice view of the city. Everything was ok there. But for our trip that time, we got a Deluxe Room and we would like to have a double bed. When we got there, they said the rooms with a double bed were full. They made one bed for us by putting two beds together and made them to be one big bed. It was ok but we was a little disappointed on that.

Restaurant Tip : You should never miss their breakfast!

good location for me

Disinterested staff

I have stayed at this hotel many times and it was satisfactory. However this time, not so much. We stayed for 8 nights and had to move 3 times. It seems, according to the desk staff, that long staying customers are at the mercy of the short stays. We are here for business and needed internet in room. We bought the most expensive internet time, but a lot of the rooms did not support in room internet. When we bought the package, we were not asked what room we were in and we were never able to use the minutes and they were non refundable. When I first talked to the manager, he told me they were changing companies soon, but the next day when I had trouble, I never heard back from him. All of the desk staff seemed very disinterested in any help of any kind during our trip. We will probably look at other hotels our next trip.

free, secured parking, great in-house restaurants, top-notch work-out facilities, excellent rooms, location in center of downtown Chiang Mai, and most notably, really good staff

couldn't think of any

The hotel surprises you with it's size and location but the dirth of amenities welcomes you to relax. I enjoyed some great meals served by some of the best staff I've ever encountered in all my travels. As a fitness buff the sight of the fitness room literally blew me away. I spent two hours in there the day after I arrived. From start to finish I thoroughly enjoyed the hotel and its personnel, and recommend to everyone visiting Chian Mai that they check it out. Lots of amentities to choose from.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : If you're driving there on your own, be sure to prepare your route beforehand because I spent quite a while trying to find the place. But if you want to see Chiang Mai the hotel is right in the middle of all the action. A great launching location for your Chiang Mai adventure.
