Hotel was clean and bed very comfortable. Breakfast was poor and food cold.Location was a bit off the beaten track. Advertised as being in Night Bazaar area but was down a series of side streets well away from main thoroughfare.
Restaurant Tip:
Seafood restaurants in Night bazaar were excellent. No fancy surroundings but fresh well cooked food.

My stay was as good as ever. Even though high season, they let me change my reservation into split visit without hassle

Cute hotel in great location
Near Night Bazaar, beautifully decorated rooms, free bottled water, free wifi, breakfast
8.7
I was tired of staying in hostels throughout Thailand and decided to stay somewhere nice for a change. I got a deluxe room on the 5th floor at Chang Thai House. My room was beautifully decorated and color-coordinated and it made me feel at home. The view from the balcony was okay... there was a chicken coop nearby and roosters made a lot of noise, but they didn't bother me because I am an early-riser. The free wireless internet worked very well. They provide you with a bath robe and slippers. Bed was comfortable. When I came back in the evening, my room was tidy and restocked with free bottled water.
There is a small pool by the lobby that looked inviting, but it didn't seem to get enough sunlight.
The breakfast is buffet style and pretty good. It was very convenient to be able to grab some toast, fruit and coffee before going out for the the day. I especially liked the porridge.
The staff was nice enough, but I wished they had more direction when it came to booking tours. The tour help desk looked lost whenever I asked them to give me more details about specific tours. Luckily, I enjoyed the two tours they recommended (trekking and a Thai cooking class).
The location is great because most tourist locations are within walking distance. It's about an 8 minute walk to the Night Bazaar down a residential street that can get pretty dark at night, but I didn't feel endangered.
Overall, I was very satisfied with Chang Thai House and I would stay here again.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Do the cooking class at Thai Kitchen Cookery Centre. The instructors are great and cooking 6 dishes was a lot of fun. You get a recipe book and a certificate when you're done.

Good location and nice room
Night bazaar and old city within walking distance
6.3
good location and nicely decorated room. we are a bit disappointed because of limited varieties of breakfast buffet. luckily there is a thai muslim foodstall at exit of this hotel location. it opens at night. padithai is very nice to eat but quite spicy!
Hotel Feature Tip:
This hotel is not so bad but rather cheap in high season because i grabbed a good price when browsing the website early.

Lovely Hotel and well worth visiting.

A lovely hotel. Well worth staying at. Some minor points - need a larger shaving mirror in the bathroom, need to provide daily English / Thai newspapers and need to keep the flame underneath the breakfast dishes going in order to keep the food hot.

Nice hotel but out of the way

The hotel was great for the price and the staff was very helpful. Breakfast is not much, but at least it's there. It's nice to have the pool and the wifi works poolside. The downfall there's that the pool doesn't get much sun. Overall, the hotel is agood place to stay if you don't mind the walk down a poorly lit alley-like side street.

Better then expected for the price
5.7
For the price we paid for this hotel we were pleasently surprised with the room and service. We even got a fee taxi ride to the airport which was great.
The only thing i do have to say is that the breakfast is pretty bad. Eggs are cold and nothing much to choose from.
It was about a 10mins walk to the night bazzar which was great although it was in the back streets.

good breakfast with nice curries!

chang thai is a very nice place to stay, rooms and beds are huge. negative point is that it is located in a narrow scary backstreet which is a little dark at night, but in the end it was ok.
breakfast is very nice with nice Thai curries. Staff is helpful.
