The stuf was verry nice and did try to help you with anything you needed . Clean incide and big rooms . Verry nice place with everything you need around the corner .
Pool bar i did see but never use maybe last few years . They would put some more tables and chairs
around the pool too .
At this hotel i can stay more times if they would change some things .In 4th floor they did have an nice pool but the children part was to deep (95cm)
Down one step they did have an Gym with a lot of things with training stuff .The sauna was diaster .
No door between the sauna and training room so all people could see inside the shower room.
Then inside the shower room You didnt have any thing to sit on or hang up your clothes .
There was on shower with curtian and 3 without .
In the sauna the stones inside the sauna unit was so small so the heat stay only so little .
And all things where same in the laidie sauna .

6-8 floors have pretty good connectivity
pool is the best
great workout facility for Westerners
shows minor wear in some areas
I have stayed in the Chiang Mai Orchid 5 or 6 times in the last 2 years. I find the staff to be the most friendly and accomodating of any of the hotels I stay at in Thailand. The location is very convenient and the overall experience is superior. Prices seem to vary according to season and (maybe?) Thai holidays or city events.

warm welcome, location, excellent value for money, lovely swimming pool
I recently stayed at the Orchid Hotel in Chiang Mai and it was excellent, from check in with a most corteous welcome, through to a lovely executive room - do ask for one of these, through to a lovely breakfast. Nice swimming pool and excellent convenient location. In all, this hotel has my support and I will be staying again in an executive room.

They provide a good breakfast buffet.
No guard in the swimming pool. Lobby is too quiet. that's not lively at all.
On arriving the hotel, I am pleased to see the antique style decoration of the lobby floor. However, the lobby is a bit dark and make the hall is not lively. The staffs there is not enthusastic at all. The room is spacious. The matress is not a quality product. It will be a problem if you have a back plain. the location is near the shopping mall. It is convenient.
Shopping Tip : Besides, it is a big shopping mall.

room needs to be remodeled.
their service was great, including a very cheap ride to the airport, and the pool was large, and very clean, but the room needs to be remodeled. It appears to be unchanged from the time they built the hotel. Also, the location was very convenient, and the main lobby is very impressive.
Nightlife Tip : the food court at Central, nice cheap food.

Close to shopping center Central
I should have come to this hotel years earlier (this was my 5th stay in Chiangmai). The accommodation is great, the staff is very friendly and helpful, the swimming pool is great and the location is fine as well, directly to the great mall and with plenty of transportation to the city center should you wish to go there

Close to multiple vendor shops, clean, friendly staff, good service, loved the bell boys(we made them work hard with our robots)
Sometimes hard to communicate in English with people at the reception desk
Excellent hotel stay. Attended a conference at the Lotus so the close proximity was excellent.
Shopping Tip : Good American restaurants all around hotel

Hotel room and other facility are extremely run down.. need urgently refurbished or reduce the rate to 2 1/2 star rated
What a great disappointment. The room is extremely run down. Light bub in bath room is just hanging loose from the ceiling with mold growing around ceiling. Brekky is not hopeless too. What a great disappointment.

Great suite, friendly staff, good breakfast, good location.
I stayed in a suite and thought the bathroom was rather small in relation to the room. There werenot enough towels available at the swimmingpool.
I should have come to this hotel years earlier (this was my 6th stay in Chiangmai). The accomodation is great, the staff is very friendly and helpfull, the swimmingpool is great and the location is fine aswell, directly to the great mall and with plenty of transportation to the city center should you wish to go there.
Shopping Tip : The location directly next to the shoppingcentre is great. From groceries to cars and houses, everything is available at this departmentstore.

Cleanliness, decor, photos in lobby, live music.
A better understanding and conversing in the English language.
The Orchid Hotel in Chiang Mai is great. Good food, clean, the understated decor, photos in lobby give one a feel for its majestic proportions. The traditional live music played by gentle folk adds to the ambiance of the foyer and relaxes one instantly. The Spa next door is wonderful for a massage. The staff in the lobby and reception go out of their way to accommodate one's wishes and arrange sight-seeing tours with ease. Thank you.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Hire a scooter from across the road.

Good hotel. Excellent value for the $35/night we paid Jan/2009. Free wifi on all floors, free gym, less touristy area
Hotel is showing its age.
Twenty years ago this hotel was the best in Chiang Mai. While the lobby still looks great, some other aspects of the hotel are showing their age. While others have commented on a musty smell in their room--ours was fine in this respect. The hotel has a large pool and a large fitness facility (gym) which are no extra charge for guests; the gym includes plenty of free weights, machines, aerobic equipment and a ping pong table. While the gym's equipment is old, the size of the gym is impressive for a Thailand hotel. The location is about 500m outside the NW corner of the old city which makes most temples a short ride away. However it is on the opposite side of the old city from the night bazaar which most of the newer hotels have grown up around. Thus, the area has a refreshing "less touristy" feel to it. You won't hear girls calling out "Hello, Thai Massage!" like you do around the night bazaar area. But there are plenty of restaurants--check out the shopping mall next door basement level food court. There are also Internet cafes and anything else a tourist would need.
Restaurant Tip : Excellent restaurant within walking distance: Nimman Kitchen by Krit. Exit the hotel and turn left, walk 3 blocks or so. On the same side of the street as the Orchid Hotel is Nimman Kitchen by Krit, watch for the sign and turn left at the sign and walk another 100m. Creative, delicious and reasonably priced.

Room Size, Big Bed, Nice Hotel, Pool.
Little bugs all over our room, location is a bit further out of town.
Booked this hotel over the net. Lobby is impressive and the rooms are really big with large beds. The only thing that put us off were these little bugs everywhere in our room. Even in the toilet paper!!

Location and helpful staff.
I won't stay here again. The rooms have that dusty, unclean smell that irritates your nose and throat.
I know that's pretty brutal but that's how it was, at least in my room.
The staff was very good and the lobby is a beautiful space but that's as far as the good points go.
Shopping Tip : Right next to Starbucks,Sizzler etc. which is good if you've been traveling hard for awhile.
