Great location and value for money
Large rooms, adequate gym and pool, good breakfast
7.7
The hotel has a grand lobby, is huge, probably 5 star in its heyday but rather old now. However it's location close to the night bazaar makes up for it and it's got almost all that you would want. All except for room safe which would Hv been useful
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Good massage right next door head towards the river.

Great Location, Big Room,
Good breakfast, Big Room, Nice Swimming Pool, Outstanding decoration of Lobby
9.3
Loction is very good, walking distance to night market and old city. Room is big and clean. Air-condition cannot cool down the room quickly, but I don't feel hot inside. Service is ok.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Should consider to join the package tour for elephant camp, as you will not get discount ticket when you purchase on-site.

great hotel, good location
9
well i had no issues checking in, good room on the 12 floor, poor wifi there but great in the foyer. The rooms are a decent size and well maintained. The breakfast that was severed every morning catered to all cultures, the security in the hotel was outstanding, and the staff could not do enough for you, i only had one bad experience and that was always running the gauntlet of taxis and tuk tuks everyday.. but the location the night bazzar and down town was great.. On check out after 7 days had an issue with checking out as they said they had nor recieved the voucher from Agoda which was eventually sorted out.
Hotel Feature Tip:
asked to be able to use the sauna, as it was mentioned they had one and found out that it has been broken for so long the staff could not recall when..

Great location & facility, poor service, ok food
location, facilities are good
5.3
The hotel was well situated and close to the Night Bazaar. The breakfast buffet was very simple, plain and okay. It was the same every day, with not much variety.
The service staff during Breakfast was not very good. The tables were not kept clean and when we asked them to clean an obvious mess, there was a sense--we were bothering them. Perhaps they didn't understand or speak any English, but they could have smiled at least. But every morning we faced unhappy staff, making our breakfast an unpleasant experience.
The hotel management needs to understand how to train their service staff to provide a more pleasant while serving the guests. This is relying on large tourist groups to fill their rooms. They probably offer a good price to these tour companies---who don't care about the quality of hotel service.
We would not stay at this hotel again.

Hotel is very impressive. The beakfast was very good and the hotel was very clean. We enjoyed our stay so much that we extended our stay. The location was close to the night market.

A bit dated but full of charm
Very good location, quiet, grandiose "decor", old fashioned
8.3
this hotel must have been the very best hotel of chiang mai when it was build; they went to great lengths with the decorations, the entrance alone is amazing...
it is a bit dated and shows its age (ie "old" carpet, no safety deposit boxes in rooms, etc...)and might not be for the "in" and modern crowd, but i enjoyed very much, loved the old fashioned courtesy of the staff and the breakfast was superb :a place full of charm...

We just love staying at the Chuang Mai Plaza. Although my brother lives here we just had to check on because we love to stay at this hotel. It is so beautiful, real live musicians playing discreetly in the lobby. Absolutely gorgeous pool and pool area. Close to the night market and everything else. Just love this grand place.
And not expensive.

enjoyed stay very much. the pool is good for actual swimming, which is a plus for me.the style of the rooms is slightly dated, but everything clean and functional. lovely bathrooms and breakfast. great location close to night market, but also quiet.sometimes the staffs level of english not good enough to communicate, but this is a minor quible. would reccomend highly.

Ok hotel in a rather nice part of town
6
First impressions were not so good, they are adamant on not checking anyone in before 14.00, which is really annoying when you have arrived from an overnight flight. We had to go and sleep by the pool for a few hours (going past the conference area that reminded us of The Shining).
But the rooms are nice and I liked that you can sit outside and eat breakfast while the temperature is still nice and cool.
It is fairly close to the old city and even closer to the night market but still on a pretty quiet road.
