A large hotel that caters well for comfort.

I felt very comfortable and relaxed during my 3 night stay at the Chiang Mai Plaza. Large foyer, attractive and interesting with very comfortable seating . Dining area good, good variety breakfast, outside dining very pleasant and peaceful.
Very comfortable bed. Plumbing has room for improvement. Housekeeper was very efficient and friendly, attended to a problem immediately . Although it is a large hotel I was impressed how quiet and peaceful the atmosphere was. Walking distance to shops, markets and restraunts, good location.
Great value, I will return.
Nightlife Tip:
Night markets - atmosphere great, bargain with the stall holders they are very pleasant people.
The restraunts on the other side of the river, on river bank are worth a visit. I really enjoyed the The Gallery Restraunt. The shops in the same street sell good quality stock items.
I felt safe at night walking the streets, it was very busy. Hotel only a few minutes away by Tuk Tuk.

Excellent value hotel in a central locaton.

This hotel is good value for money. It is quiet and has a great lobby to relax in while waiting for friends or your next excursion. My room was large, clean and contained everything needed. While the carpet was looking a little tired, I feel that given the cheap rate of the room this was acceptable. There was a great range of food at breakfast. I would definitely return to this hotel on my next visit to Chiang Mai.

I enjoyed the spacious room we had on the 10th floor. We had a beautiful view of the city. The internet was horrible. Unusable for Skype or video streaming based on the speed. Cold pool (normal for the time of year). Great buffet breakfast with many choices of Western and Asian food. They had about 10 or 15 T.V. channels (seems to be the normal for Chiang Mai hotels). Taxi options through hotel staff are overpriced. Very helpful bellmen.
Restaurant Tip:
Georgio Italian Restaurant provides amazing dishes at reasonable prices. Best lasagna in the world! The Duke's Grill is a great restaurant with many Western food options including a children's menu and crayons for young kids. Both of them are within walking distance of the hotel.

Agoda unfortunately booked us a single room which put a damper on the whole experience because I immediately had to pay an extra 100 dollars to accommodate the extra person. But the hotel is beautiful. Breakfast was just ok

It provides travel adaptors, after my 2 nights in CM and got to run out of electricity for my devices.
The hotel is 5 mins walk to the night market, we opted to visit on Sunday night.
Free wi-fi but the stability is very very low. We dropped connections like every 5-10 mins, not good for this.
We thought it's final day of the trip but then found out that the return flight is one day ahead. We tried to ask if the hotel guys can give the carrier a call so I could ask if I oould join the standby queue. However, they asked us to make the public phone calls, well, I don't have SIM card or coins and it's not convenient for a traveller like me. Poor service for this.
Breakfast can sit indoor/outdoor, relax. Food is normal.
Restaurant Tip:
There's a famous Italian Restaurant nearby, we would like to try but ran out of time. Maybe have a try.

Old Style Elegance, Good Service needs adjustments
Very beautiful lobby that reflects Thailand's culture & history; Very friendly & accomodating staff; Decent western-style breakfast with some Thai accents.

Overall it was a very pleasant experience. The Lobby is beautiful decorated in a way that reminds you where you are, which I loved. The rooms are very adequate and clean, but the furniture shows its age, where some of the pieces should have been retired long ago and really detract from the overall feeling of the hotel's beauty and elegance. Another real detraction is the hotel's insistence that we pay (about 65 cents) for a broken drinking glass (which neither I or my gf didn't remember breaking) ... its unfortunate that they felt the need to ask (without a trace of uncomfort) for such an insignificant amount after we stayed for 7 nights. The pool is very nice but the gym, although functional, is very old and needs to be updated. As I stated at the outset, it was a pleasant experience and I would consider staying there again for the discounted price I received.
