Hotel needs refurbishment - poor lighting

Booked this hotel after reading various reviews. However, the hotel is dated and needs serious upgrading/refurbishment. Breakfast catered mostly for SE Asian clients with limited Western dishes. Patrons mostly locals and SE Asians. I had a room next to a very noisey family. Furthermore, the piped music along the corridors was a nuisance and very annoying and could be heard in the room. Lighting in the rooms very bad with the Lanna style interior decor further reducing the light (day & night)in the room. Room layout was poor. Room was okay as a temporary base for a day or two, considering the rack rate paid. This should be described as a 2 Star hotel only.

Freindly and close to old city

Buffet Breakfast was fine, fussy kids ate ok. Staff were polite, friendly and helpful, rooms clean. Baht buses and tuk tuk's went past the front of the hotel constantly, we didnt wait more than 5 minutes before we had a ride. Drivers from the old city had no trouble taking us home. Aircons could be a little noisy.
