while i dont vacation too often, i've stayed at various hotels around bangkok and phuket. Phenomenal service. great rooms, great staff, great breakfast, right near night market and easy to catch taxi from, get laundry cleaned, buy souvenirs, and get to the old city.
I can't say enough good things about D2. The staff is more than phenomenal...they almost seem to read your mind about things you want/need. Very personal service and they all knew our names.
Good decision on both trips to Chiang Mai this past year to upgrade rooms and enjoyed the happy hour w/ yummy cocktails and snacks that were more like a delicious appetizer meal and free beverages all day.
The hotel is located in a great location and is one of the most unique hotels in thailand. very funky and modern with cool designs and hotel uniforms designed by Greyhound. Incredible attention to detail. Have a "computer whiz" who helps you with tours that aren't overpriced like many hotels.
Stay here and you'll be coming back to Chiang Mai again and again.
It beats even some of the best resorts in Hawaii, Phuket and Florida.
Travel tip : laundry charge is by piece. there is a laundry place only a 3 minute walk away from hotel that does it by kilo.

The restaurant, the restaurant, the restaurant
The rooms are a trifle smaller than expected and the decor is stark.
The hotel has a very modern, stark decor. I knew this going in, however, the effect was exaggerated by the fact that there were so few guests. This was especially disturbing in the restaurant, where we were frequently the only couple having dinner. What a shame! The restaurant deserves a Michilen star for the quality of the food - simply superb! However, because of the fact that there were so few guests dining, the staff tended to hover - clearly wanting to be helpful, but alas just making us nervous. I truly hope the restaurant is 'discovered'. It was a gem.
Restaurant Tip : Eat there every chance you get.

Excellent atmosphere in this very fashionable and modern hotel. Exquisite decoration, kindness of the employees
The swiming pool needs a bit more shade, very useful when the weather is very hot like it was during our stay.
Because we wanted a non smoking room with large bed, we got the surprise to be upgraded to a suite without asking anything, employees were absolutely charming. Everytime entering the hotel we were welcomed, internet was free for 45 minues every day, enough to stay in contact with our loved ones, a little gift in our room every day, free before diner drinks in the evening, hotel located feet away from the night bazar, Stacy was a great guide, explaining and answering our questionsn guiding us for tours, etc. Well everything was delightful during this stay. I strongly recommend this hotel in Chiang Mai.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Stacy had understood our needs and guided and recommended us the best things to do and see in the area of Chiang mai and its neighbourhood.

Bed hard as a rock. Sleep on the floor it is softer. Too "modern" glitzy for me. Place has no soul
Shopping Tip : Night market right outside the door. Across the street and to the right is a seafood market. Pick your fish or prawns and they cook them right their.

Quirky, stylish, great location, great breakfast, great staff.
The D2 is uber cool and stylish where clearly a lot of thought has gone into making this hotel unique and a 'cut above' the rest. I loved the use of colour with the colour orange being used as the the baseline branding for the hotel. From the orange pencils to the note pads to the umbrellas; even the D2 car is an old London cab painted cream with orange trim. The staff were excellent and looked smart in their braces, pants, crisp white shirts and sneekers. Unfortunately we only had one night with breakfast which was great. The chef cooked our eggs to perfection and again there was unusual jams and juices to choose from all adding to the uniqueness and quirkiness that sets this hotel apart from the rest. I will be back.
Nightlife Tip : The D2 is conveniently located to night stalls, bars and good restaurants in the surrounding streets

Great location--close to a night market. Very comfortable and elegant rooms. Great facilities. Staff very helpful.
None really. Other than if you are a run of the mill tourist, and plan on wearing "comfortable" attire, you may feel a little out of place.

Near Night Bazaar market
In the center of city
Convenient to travel around
Chic and Hip Hotel
Good Services
Room is Quite small
Nearby is too crowd and noise at night
the hotel is quite new, clean, good atmosphere & conditions. The Hotel staff is also really nice and provide good services. But the room size maybe a little too small or narrow. By the way, the overall is good and meet the starndard. Moreover, the location is good as it's near the night market and food stalls or restaurants
Restaurant Tip : If you would love to listen the music while having dinner, i would recommend to go to Riverside Restaurant or/and Good View Bar & Restaurant that located near the Maeping River. The atmosphere and singer is very good. Let's check it out...!!

Everything in this hotel is done to please the customer. The home is perfect, beautiful design, very comfortable rooms, new bathrooms and stylish, the restaurant delicious. It is one of the best hotels that I have live during their stay in Thailand and that is really standing in a 5-star hotel.
No reservations to make on this hotel except that the pool is a little small but we are in town, this is understandable and there was no bar on the terrace.
I loved this hotel. The design is superb and we feel the quality in every detail. The restaurant is fabulous and if, during his stay, we want to afford a restaurant a little more expensive, is the D2 need to go. The staff is more than charming and bend over backwards to you without servility. The day of our arrival, a cake awaited us for our honeymoon and they had noticed that the anniversary of my husband fell during our stay. Rebelote: cake in the room. Every day, a little present waiting for us in the room: confectionery, keychain, ball ... massage in the evening, they put a small device to hunt mosquitoes and bad odors from cigarettes, for smokers. The bathrooms are really quality. It is situated close to the downtown and night bazaar. It can do everything on foot and frankly, despite the monsoon, which was intense few days in Chiang Mai, we have no regrets thanks to this excellent hotel, full of caring for its customers.

Very clean, great air conditioning, perfect service.
Restaurant is pretty expensive, albeit the quality and choices are excellent.
This very modern hotel is situated in a very convenient location. The night market is right outside the door, and the nice restaurants across the Ping River are within walking distance. This was my second stay, and both times I have really liked the cleanliness of my room. Also, the air-conditioning is clean and very effective - no musty odors. D2 is my choice for fine lodging at a good price in Chiang Mai

d2 hotel chiang mai is an almost perfect hotel except the surrounding area, very helpful, friendly and well-trained staff, great breakfast and food, perfect service, rooms just a bit too small but very fashionable and comfortable, central good location for night life and shopping. I'd recommend it especially for business traveler or short stay.
