Fondcome Village Resort, Chiang Mai

I chose Fondcome after reading other guests reviews. I liked the fact that it was a small place and unique. The rooms were very individual and interesing, each with their own story to tell. The beds were comfortable and the place was kept immaculately clean. I was a little concerned about staying in a hotel where there was no kids club but my girls loved this place more than anywhere we have ever stayed before! There were bunnies running around all over the place and they spent hours chasing after them. The staff were fantastic with the kids and when we left our four year old was crying her eyes out because she did not want to leave all her new friends behind! It was like saying goodbye to family and that is exactly how we were treated. I would definitely go back to this resort. The food in the restaurant was also very good. We had most of our evening meals as well as breakfast in the hotel and quality and service were excellent. It was also very nice to be able to sit outdoors and enjoy the natural surroundings, the sound of flowing water, the birds singing and the trees rustling in the breeze. Wonderful holiday.

Once we arrived, we found that the check-in time was so long, I mean more than 15 minutes after I signed a registration form. Finally, a staff came back with a bad news that the room we booked was still occupied because the guests in that room were ill and would like to stay one more night. We were kind enough to understand that the resort cannot throw out an ill guest. Then, Fondcome searched and found a hotel to transfer us there for 1 night. She said 'we would bring you to a nice hotel where you would get a deluxe room with Doi Suthep view. And Fondcome would offer you 1 free set dinner as their apology for the inconvenience. It will be a hotel, because all resorts were fully booked.' After we arrived her 'nice' hotel, we felt almost acceptable because it looked like a cheap hotel while we also paid not low for Fondcome. But we still were kind and patient enough. Fondcome staff who brought us there already departed and we inspected our 'deluxe' room, we found that it was a very simple condition room without even a hair dryer. Finally, we made up my mind that Fondcome must find a better place where was comparable to Fondcome. We talked to Fondcome again to find a comparable place and then they found a really nice resort for us. We stayed 3 nights in Fondcome. The staffs were nice and it seemed nobody knew that we would get a free set dinner, no voucher issued, no mentioned during our stay and we did not meet the staff who offered us during our stay. We were a little bit disappointed that they did not keep promise. The room was very unique with Lanna traditional style and we were so funny by playing with the rabbits. The breakfast buffet is OK, at least had both western and eastern choices of food to select. The resort also provided free internet for guests and free scheduled shuttle bus to night bazaar and walking streets. The staffs tried to assist the guests all the time but they did not speak well English.

I LOVED this place! We stayed in the cave room with the clear ceiling so you could see the stars. It was so neat! Our bed was huge and we had a little fake fire in our cave room. The lights switched on by pulling the tree branches from the fake tree in the room. The food was really good as well. It is in the middle of nowhere, but I actually liked this about it. The free shuttle took us to the night safari, so I was happy. They will take you anywhere else in the city you want to go for a small fee. The staff was so friendly and helpful. I was having problems with our plans I'd arranged for the next day and they made some phone calls for me and arranged my transportation and everything. They were so helpful. There are cute bunnies running around the place which made it even better for me because I love animals. I would definitely stay here again. It was my favorite place in Thailand and one of the best places I've stayed at in the world. I highly recommend it!
