Simple facility guest house. Dont expect many from the price but bear in mind, it already mention "Guest House".
Good environment (rivalside guest house) and location for chiangmai night plaza shopper.
Travel tip:
Price, consider expensive for local, but middle range, even cheap for foreigner. Good location for those like chiangmai night plaza.

Breakfast not included with accommodation but restaurant overlooks the river and has everything on their menu. The rooms are large and kept clean. Bathrooms also large and clean. Location is as good as it gets for Chiang Mai but you still need to walk a bit to see everything. Highly recommended for long comfortable stays.

Galare Guest House is a very nice guest house east of the old city in Chiang Mai. The rooms have everything you would expect in a hotel room, and are quite comfortable. The staff were very helpful in recommending activities and booking tours. They would also recommend the best way of getting to a particular site. It is located on the river, and a short walk to the night market, though it is a 15 minute walk (or quick tuk tuk ride) to the edge of the old city. They have a simple but good breakfast (not included), as well as a lunch/dinner menu that I didn't have a chance to try out. For the price, a great choice for many different types of travellers.

A good location in Chiang Mai

The hotel is fairly budget accommodation but the rooms are clean and the location is great just a few minutes walk from the main shopping areas and the river. The breakfast is limited but cheap. However DO NOT hire a bike from this hotel. I did, big mistake. They insist on you paying up front and when the bike arrived it was the oldest most beat up example with brakes that didn't work. I then had to have an argument to get my money refunded.
Overall recommended for the price but do not book any other items through the hotel.
Restaurant Tip:
Many travel books recommend the river view restaurant along the east of the river Ping. It seems good with an extensive menu but gets really packed. You will be lucky to get a table and the experience is not a good one jammed up against many other tables.

We had a lovely stay here, and would stay here again. Staff were very friendly, helping with everything we needed,including helpful hints on how to get anywhere we needed to go. They recommended some good tour packages or hints on the best way for us to get somewhere, taking into account our mobility issues. The garden is lovely and a great place to relax or to meet other travelers. Our ground floor room was very clean and well maintained, cleaned daily. Guesthouse is close to markets and bazaars. On-site restaurant had helpful attentive staff and good food.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Take the Thai Farm Cooking School - great day in lovely setting; well-managed and taught!

We found the Galare a great place to stay. From the rooms to the gardens, to being by the river the friendly and helpful staff everything was perfect. Close enough to the night market, temples and everything else you would want to see in Chang Mai it is the perfect location but it has a very calm and serene feel to it. The food was really good and we found it very reasonably priced, the setting next to the river was very nice especially on a warm night.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
There are many trips to do from Chang Mai and we enjoyed all of the ones that we done, but one of our favourites was a visit to the Royal Botanical Gardens if you like gardens it is really worth a visit.

For the price, one can really not demand a lot. Staff are friendly and helpful. Service always comes with the expected Thai smile. Room is huge and very clean. Exceeded my expectations of a guesthouse. This is truly value for money.
Guesthouse is located a block away for the Night Bazaar. Really convenient if you are into shopping.
Restaurant Tip:
Must try: Just Khao Soy Restaurant. Serving delicious Northern Thai curry noodles in style.
Directions: Make a left on the main road as you exit Galare Guesthouse and walk past Anusarn Market.

Lovely staff, big rooms, many many mosquitos!

Stayed for one night. Upon arriving the staff knew exactly who we are (they keep a board with a list of all arriving guests). Very friendly staff, always smiling. The hotel is located just 3 minutes walk from the night bazar, and next to the river, which means you should expect many many mosquitos. We had a drink on the hotel's beautiful garden, but had to run away because of the vast amount of mosquitos.
