Fantastic
Great garden, friendly staff great food
10
We found the Galare a great place to stay. From the rooms to the gardens, to being by the river the friendly and helpful staff everything was perfect. Close enough to the night market, temples and everything else you would want to see in Chang Mai it is the perfect location but it has a very calm and serene feel to it. The food was really good and we found it very reasonably priced, the setting next to the river was very nice especially on a warm night.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
There are many trips to do from Chang Mai and we enjoyed all of the ones that we done, but one of our favourites was a visit to the Royal Botanical Gardens if you like gardens it is really worth a visit.

Spacious clean rooms by the river
Near Night Bazaar and many eateries
8
For the price, one can really not demand a lot. Staff are friendly and helpful. Service always comes with the expected Thai smile. Room is huge and very clean. Exceeded my expectations of a guesthouse. This is truly value for money.
Guesthouse is located a block away for the Night Bazaar. Really convenient if you are into shopping.
Restaurant Tip:
Must try: Just Khao Soy Restaurant. Serving delicious Northern Thai curry noodles in style.
Directions: Make a left on the main road as you exit Galare Guesthouse and walk past Anusarn Market.

Lovely staff, big rooms, many many mosquitos!
Great location, lovely atmosphere.
7.3
Stayed for one night. Upon arriving the staff knew exactly who we are (they keep a board with a list of all arriving guests). Very friendly staff, always smiling. The hotel is located just 3 minutes walk from the night bazar, and next to the river, which means you should expect many many mosquitos. We had a drink on the hotel's beautiful garden, but had to run away because of the vast amount of mosquitos.

Nice hotel at a lovely location
Quaint hotel overlooking the river
9
a nice spacious room in a rustic looking guesthouse that is right by the river. you can enjoy a relaxing peaceful breakfast (or any other meals) overlooking the river. the hotel is modern and well kept, just a short walk from both the nightlife and the old town. if you don't want to venture out of the grounds there's a nice little garden where you can sit an enjoy the sun.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Make sure you plan your trip to be in Chiang Mai for the Sunday Night Market, there's lot's of handmade crafts / gifts that are far better than the standard gifts that can be picked up elsewhere

good location and warm service
safety and free atmosphere

The hotel is in a short distance from the Chiang Mai International Airport. Hotel is located beside calm Ping River and can enjoy its tranquility. Hotel staff very polite and honest. We have left behind some valuable sovenier, which later they sent to us back courier. Besides close to NIght Market, the hotel is in close vicinity to a big mosque and good muslim community. Every thursday night there is halal food festa along the road leading to the mosque.

Lovely Chang Mai Guesthouse

Truly nice wood building on the river in Chang Mai. Great staff, great building and grounds for relaxing by the river after and away from the hub-bub of Chang Mai. Easy walk to Night Bazaar!

Fantastic hotel/guest house in a great location
Clean, complete, good service, excellent location

Galare Guest House is east of Old City in Chiang Mai, near a river. This area is great and has many things to offer, like a night market type of thing. Good service, lots of space, had everything I needed
Nightlife Tip:
see a muay thai fight nearby

Nice little hotel at a nice location
Cozy, simple but sufficient facilities, good & quiet location, surprisingly competitive prices for food at its restaurant, attentive service
9.3
We stayed at the hotel for 9 nights during the high season of Christmas holidays. But nevertheless the management did everything to keep the hotel a quiet place for rest. We booked several tours through the hotel services and liked the two which were provided by the personnel of the hotel - the guides were attentive, informative, nice, smiley and caring. The bed sheets were changed every day, there always was hot water, there was a free cooler on each floor with plenty of free drinking water. The food at the restaurant was simple but tasty - you can ask to make it as hot and spicy as you like (they will actually do it!).
The Internet didn't work good and fast enough. The garbage was taken away during nights so for some time it was quite noisy.
Nightlife Tip:
There is a night market to the left of the hotel (5-10 mins walk) and a fresh and flowers market to the left (5-10 mins walk), on the other bank of the river next to the Iron Bridge there is a big supermarket (works until 9p.m.) where you can find anything you may need.

Location, quiet, kettle, wifi

Room was comfortable with all you need, including a kettle. Excellent location as quiet by the river, but very close to the night market and Kalare food court.
Was a nice room to come back to after being out all day.
