I liked the Swimming pool, the warm hospitality of the staff memebers.
no free shuttle to and from the airport.
In geneal staying in the Imperial hotel in Chiang Mai was a very good decision we made. It was located not in the heart of the center but just 5 minute walk from there. A very high quality of service and a good value for the money we spent, compared to other fine hotels where the prices are 2 or even 3 times higher.
Shopping Tip : shopping at the night market is fun

Staff was accomodating, large facility, shuttle to Chiang Mai, but only at noon at 10 pm.
Very far from Chiang Mai; it is in Mae Rim, not in the main part of Chiang Mai.
This hotel is inconveniently located outside of the main city. If you want to be in the heart of Chiang Mai where all the shopping & urban quality of a city, do not stay here. There is a shuttle that takes you to & from the city, but it only goes twice daily & you have to set it up with the front desk. We called one night to be picked up thirty minutes before the time and they said the driver left already and we needed to hire a tuk tuk to take us back. The resort is a little older as well as the room, but it worked.

Olympic swimming pool and weight training equipment. Reasonable price and good service.
Limited food options and a bit far from tourist areas. Some of the facilities could use a facelift.
I enjoyed my stay at the Imperial Chiang Mai Resort Spa and Sports Club. The rooms while not very new are spacious with comfortable beds and have a bathtub in the bathroom. The olympic swimming pool is very nice and the staff worked hard to keep leaves and debris out. The fitness center has solid weight training equipment but the cardio machines aren't so great. The food options at the hotel are limited
Restaurant Tip : There is a good thai restaurant which serves some western food (Talek) not to far from the resort. Exit the resort and take a right turn after passing the construction company. A little less than 1km from the resort.
