Nice pool, clean room, balcony with view.

Far from town and hard to find when you drive or ride a motorbike. Better options would be staying closer to town.

Booked this hotel and was pleased to be picked up at the Airport with a man holding a sign with my name. But had to pay for travel back to the Airport for 200baht. The staff were nice and friendly, and the rooms was comfortable with a nice view. Just too far from town and easy to get lost if you drive yourself in a hirecar or motorbike. All up a nice place with good priced food and garden atmosphere around the hotel. VERY QUIET location.

the rooms are nice and the grounds are well kept. The view of the Ping River from those rooms facing it is soothing.

service from some staff members unprofessional and clueless. Location is inconvenient to town.

Upon arrival I had a positive impression of the hotel and its grounds and a negative impression of the staff. Both impressions were confirmed over the next three days. The staff on my arrival day were unsupervised by a manager. I was told the manager was in Bangkok and the "deputy manager' wouldn't arrive until the next day. Consequently the staff members were engrossed in a English League football game on TV and in personal phone calls. It was if the guests were an afterthought. The rooms are very comfortable, almost like a small suite and somebody is doing a good job keeping up the grounds. The wifi in my room was fitful and after the first day quit working altogether. Somebody did show up to take a look but nothing came of it. The wifi did work near the pool and in their restaurant. On the second day, no one showed up to cook breakfast. The staff member present at the time told me she was sorry. That was an ongoing refrain with her. Actually missing their breakfast was no great loss. It's the all too common single runny egg and a sorry looking hot dog. It's impossible to catch a tuk tuk from the busy street in from of the Mantra. You have to order one or book the hotel's car. Actually, I had no problem getting tuk tuks to bring me back in the evenings- and at reasonable rates since it was low season. The hotel is a inconvenient distance from town but still in a fairly populated area. During the day the dining area can get loud from street noise but the area along the river stays quiet. I think the deputy manager did show up later in my stay and the haphazard manner of the staff wasn't so obvious. I think the problems I experienced are due to the hit and miss qualities of a "boutique" hotel. Right now, 'boutique" is a favorite word in Thailand.

Hotel Feature Tip : this hotel is a twenty minute tuk tuk ride from the night bazaar area in Chiang Mai. After a while that gets to be a chore. If you intend take tours into the countryside instead, that's not such an issue.

Beautiful grounds, nice rooms, quiet, scenic location, friendly staff, nice breakfast, shuttle boat and minivan.

Location a bit off the beaten path- need to take taxis to and from town. Shuttle boat and minivan help, but need to take 20+ min taxi rides.

This hotel is located on beautiful grounds on the banks of the Ping River. It has a nice pool and sitting areas around the nice landscaping. The rooms are very clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. The staff is very professional and friendly. The breakfast buffet is fresh and satisfying. We loved the morning shuttle boat rides to town down the river. Highly recommended and I would definitely stay here again.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Doi Suthep temple and hike to waterfalls!

Beautiful setting by the River Ping, very quiet and relaxing spot away from the hussle of Chang Mai centre, excellent service, staff always on hand to assist with travel plans, courtesy car etc.

Limited restaurant at the Hotel but 2 very nice restaurants within 1km. Mini bar very sparse. Mosquito nets would be a nice touch due to the location being by the river.

The Lanna Mantra is in a wonderful location on the banks of the River Ping, the Gardens are beautifully tended with exotic flowers and manicured lawns, the Pool is clean and well maintained and beds and parasols are provided both pool side and river side.Although the restaurant is fairly limited there are 2 excellent restaurants close by and the town centre is only 5 minutes away and there is always transport available to take you at any time. A thoroughly relaxing location and a very enjoyable stay while visiting the North of Thailand. Not a location for young children due the the Riverside location.

Restaurant Tip : Le Crystal Restaurant 1km towards town, a superb meal in a wonderful location.

Sfeer, uitzicht,

Location - away from the hustle and bustle of the city and right on the river. Beautiful. Helpful staff - couldn't do more for you. Appearance and ambience - clean, comfortable and very relaxing.

The mosquitoes. Being close to the water they are prevalent. Would recommend a plug-in for your room, but did not distract from a lovely stay.

Lanna Mantra is a fabulous hotel. We had a mid-range room which was a good size, clean and comfortable. Right on the river front and beside the pool. The grounds of the hotel are stunning, even better than the pictures look on the website! We took the river shuttle into the city one morning, very relaxing. Hotel was also very quiet, only saw about 5/6 other couples during our 3 day stay but that doesn't mean it is a bad hotel, it means it is a hidden gem! Food was also good and staff always willing to help set up excursions to local attractions. Highly recommend it for chilling out and watching the world go by.

Restaurant Tip : Very good restaurant approx 500m up the road from the Hotel. Sorry, I forget the name, but was recommended by Lanna Mantra. Food is excellent, inexpensive, right on the river, and tastful live Thai music every night.

Our room was large, nicely decorated and comfortable. Staffs are friendly and provides good service, very well organised. There are a clean and nice swimming pool along with the river.

The location is peaceful but to go to the city is a bit far. The journy to the city about 5-10minutes.(It depends on where you want to go in the city.)The taxi is provided by the hotel. The cost is 100-150baht.On the way back is about 150baht.

A nice and pretty hotel with a relax surroundings. If you want a quiet and romantic place to stay, this is it. It would be a nice place for families, too. A room we've got with an excellent view of the river and just sitting out on the balcony at the end of the day and watching the river flow by was wonderful. The resort is about a 15 minute drive outside the Night Market area/City Center.

Quiet, nice rooms and layout, very clean. The staff is extremely helpful and efficient, very professional and service oriented, especially the staff at the reception desk. The location is set by the river

The hotel is not a walking distance from the city bazaar and the old town which means a taxi is required for any activity. By the way the hotel provide free van shuttle to city and boat shuttle market.

I would definitely recommend this hotel, which offers a good value for the money on Chiang Mai standards. This hotel offer a free shuttle services ( van and boat shuttle) which are very effective.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Try the Gallery restaurant; it's is very good one.

Beautiful Thai Style,Very Quiet, Attentive staff, lovely breakfast, Lovely manicured gardens with sunbathing by the pool or river! Beds need to be softer ( all beds in Thailand need to be softer)

I loved everything about this hotel, and would definitely love to stay again!

The hotel will provide you with a map to give to taxi or tuk tuk, make sure you have this and you will have no problem. What a fabulous place to stay from the busy city and only about 5 minute drive.

The hotel was clean and had a relaxed feel to it. The outlook over the Ping River was very peaceful and relaxing. Staff were pleasant.

The restaurant had a limited menu, however they cooked at any time up until 9pm. Not alot of other places to eat close by, and they only had a selection of beer. Taxi cost 150 baht from Chaing Mai. Only Star Movie channel and Bloomberg in English.

The Lanna Mantra provided a quiet and relaxed few days for me at the end of a month living in Guest houses. The swimming pool gave a great view over the Ping River, and was a lovely place to eat a meal. I walked to a village about 15 minutes away and found a Tesco supermarket as well as a fruit and vegetable market. A bike could be borrowed from the hotel for further exploration.

Shopping Tip : If purchasing alcohol from local Tesco you can't be served until after 5.30pm! Hotel car can take you to train station for 150 bht.
