- Tasteful, charming rooms blend classic Lanna style with modern comfort. - Great location: secluded from traffic and noise but walking distance from the old city and night bazaar.

Layout of the rooms is a little cramped.

About halfway down Soi 3, Manathai is conveniently located within walking distance of Thaepae Gate and the night bazaar. It's a great base to explore the city, and also a welcome retreat from the heat and bustle afterwards. The charming hotel and friendly staff made the stay very memorable. As younger travelers, the layout around the central pool allows for easy socializing and meeting new people (not to mention a reprieve from the heat). Nevertheless, this is definitely an upscale hotel suitable for the most discerning traveler. We would stay here again.

Restaurant Tip : Within walking distance of the hotel, near the night bazaar is "Just Khao Soi" (Google it for a map), a fantastic restaurant specializing in Northern Thailand's famous curry soup. Not to be missed.

The architecture is beautiful, the pool very attractive, the food great and staff very friendly and helpful.

None.

The hotel is very well located, near the main roads of Chiang Mai. The access to the center is quick and simple. It is a quiet paradise in the middle of the town. Food is great also. The only problem (which wasn't for us, but it could be for someone that likes to sleep until late, is that windows have just a light curtain, so the sun enters the room very early in the morning.

Hotel Feature Tip : The hotel has several a tour agency inside. As we thought it should be more expensive than in the city, we went to a few and find out that it was less expensive after all. And adds the fact that one of the owners, Thee, is very sympatetic and helpful.

Brilliant design, central location, lovely service, lovely restaurant. A work of art, even as boutique hotels go!

Lousy cup of coffee with breakfast. Nothing else.

This is a jewel, wonderfully architectured and laid out. It conveys Thailand because it uses local materials and rural themes which are adapted to modern amenity levels. The deluxe rooms bed was wonderfully done in four poster style, the bathroom an intimate delight (not for warring couples haha!). It was delightful to be in a quiet village atmosphere bang in the middle of Chiang Mai. The location alone makes the stay worth it!

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The surroundings of Chiang Mai are not to be passed over. The nature is just gorgeous.

Good location, modern, clean, attractive.

Standard rooms are small

No wi-fi, no business centre and no desk in the room, so not for the business traveller. However, if you are a single, a couple or a group of friends looking for a well run, well located hotel ,this is one to consider. Next time I take a mini-break to Chiang Mai this is where I will stay. No two ways about it.

Restaurant Tip : Check out The Gallery restaurant on the riverside. Fifteen minute walk or three/four minutes in a tuk-tuk. Great Thai food, al-fresco dining right next to the river.

hotel themed in Thai architectural style.Video and book library. Restfull ambience in public areas.

bathroom a little too rustic.

We were impressed with our reception. From the sounding of a gong to announce our arrival to the refreshing drinks during check-in all set the scene for the rest of our stay. we found it to be a quality boutique hotel, exciting to the senses and a pleasure to stay in.We dined regularly in their resturant and found the quality and value excellent. Staff allways attentive and eager to please.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Hotel will arrange tours - transport by private vehicle at very reasonable rates.

lots of charm - character - great ambience -- beautifully decorated rooms - friendly staff - great hotel overall -- especially for the price. would definitely stay here again...

only downside for me -- i thought the restaurant in the hotel was way too expensive -- right outside hotel on the main road were many great thai restaurants serving same food as hotel but a fraction of the price......

i travel to chiang mai 4 times a year (for the past 7 years) and needless to say - i have stayed at almost every nice, luxury hotel there. over the last few years, several new ones have popped up - the manathai being one of them. i was extremely pleased with this hotel - all the way around. beautifully decorated - from the entrance in the lobby - down to the spa like bathrooms....everything was delightful! the staff (some of them i knew from them having worked at previous hotels i have stayed) was gracious and very helpful -- always smiling. nice pool - only drawback here is that there is not much direct sun exposure in the late afternoon. i thought the restaurant prices were very high -- food looked great - but just down the street from the hotel was great food at a fraction of the price -- so i never ate at the restaurant. everything else was spectacular - will definitely stay here again!

Restaurant Tip : great vegetarian thai restaurant - taste from heaven - on tae pae road - just a few blocks from hotel.

Great location - situated between the night market and the moat. Very quiet position although very central.

Cannot recall any!

The staff were very attentive and polite. Perhaps a little too attentive. This may have been because both Chang Mai and the hotel where both very quiet.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : If you're interested in doing a jewellery course for a day or two or five, Nova Artlab is less than five minutes from the hotel. Fantastic.

Location, wonderful service, free internet, nice pool, breakfast included

The deluxe room was a little small and you have to be creative to find places for your suitcase.

Service was impeccable from the moment we got out of the taxi to arranging a taxi on our way out. They knew who we were when we arrived and gave us a glass of juice and a hand towel. The woman showed us to our room and oriented us on everything in it. A moment later the bellhop came with our luggage. Our room had a nice little patio area to sit and relax and our room overlooked the pool. The breakfast was nice, buffet style and also a little menu to choose from. This was included in the price of our room. The location is nice in a quiet soi, but walkable to the main part of town and even the Night Bazaar. I would recommend this hotel to anyone going to Chaing Mai. I would definitely stay there again.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Get a tuk tuk to take you around the city and to all the temples. One flat rate for a few hours is cheap!

Beautiful ambience, a calm oasis in the backstreets of Chiang Mai, lovely room, comfortable bed, great attention to detail, helpfull staff, excellent breakfast

One of the waitresses seemed unhappy every day, but thats life. No other complaints

From the moment you arrive at Manathai you feel you are in a special place, where every need has been thought of. The rooms are beautifully appointed with wooden furniture, an abundance of pillows and everything you could need. The food and service are great. The location is almost ideal, within walking distance of the night market and a slew of bars. On-site travel agent was very helpful. Pool was lovely after the heat of sightseeing. Very calm and peaceful. Delightful in the evening. Highly recommended.

Hotel Feature Tip : Go for the junior suite, well worth the money.

Small but romantic and charming resort, very quiet. Friendly staff. Good breakfast.

No moskitonet on the windows. Resort-Restaurant not special and expensiv (to much european-cooking-stile, mean: not spicy). Not mouvables umbrellas at the pool. Fully sun when you relax in your chair.

Excellent small resort - beautiful design, beautiful rooms, everywhere plants and flowers, nice pool. The staff were extremely friendly in our arrival and on recommending good markets, etc. to visit chiang mai. The breakfast that was included was a small but fresh and clean buffet and it was all delicious - included made-to-order omelets. The location was also perfect - close to the night market and restaurants.

Room decor and quiet village like atmosphere. The distance from all the nightlife and night/weekend bazaars.

Shower pressure and bugs around the flower decorations.

The hotel was located about 5 minute walk from the Thapae Gate Wall and within walking distance of the main street and all the bars/bazaars (weekend and night). Being so close to the nightlife area I was amazed at how quiet and peaceful it is when you are in the hotel. You forget you are in the city when you return to the hotel. The hotel was very clean and the staff was very pleasant and always on hand to assist in any matters in which you may have.

Manathai is a lovely boutique hotel tucked away in a delightful and quiet neighborhood. The architecture is splendid, the restaurant excellent and the pool/courtyard a wonderful place to relax. The ambiance is splendid.

My room was small and the bathroom lacked shelving, though the tub was sensational. Not much space to maneuver in the room.

Manathai is a truly lovely hotel, staffed by delightful people eager to be sure all is well. The rooms are small but cleverly arranged for a comfortable stay. The Friday night BBQ prepared poolside is a real treat. Located in a quiet neighborhood off the main road it is still only a ten minutes walk to the Night Market and about the same to Tha Phae Gate. If you do not stay at the hotel the restaurant is lovely and the food wonderfully well prepared. It is worth finding Manathai for the food alone.

Boutique friendly & private.

Room was a little small for a Junior Suite.

Absolutely loved this little boutique hotel. Nestled in a quite little street, it is away from passing traffic etc. Very lovely staff that couldn't do enough for us. We had a ground floor Junior Suite that looked out toward the pool, so it was very convenient to just pop inside when laying around the pool. Great food for both breakfast and from the restaurant. This was a little piece of luxury in a lovely private setting. Would definitely recommend.

Hotel Feature Tip : Relax & enjoy!

If you are using the map provided on hotel website, it is very hard to find because it is not clear enough. Just tell the taxi driver the hotel is located at Thaepae Road then turn to Soi 3, that's much easier.

Shopping Tip : The hotel is located at Thaepae road, which is very convenient to other places, especially to Night Bazaar, which takes only 10 minutes walk to get there.
