Cheap and well located in the city.
Cleanliness of the room is a problem as is the classification of a deluxe terrace suite. Third story terrace suite is fine as long as you don't have a lot of luggage or children - no elevator in the terraces only in the main hotel.
The hotel was disappointing and probably the worst of the eleven I have stayed in Thailand, but I should have realised with the low rates. The word deluxe is a bit deceptive. Room cleanliness is a real problem - children hand marks on the front door and marks in the bathroom walls were still there three days later when we left. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was limited but adequate for the price. The lack of an elevator in the terrace suites on the third floor posed a challenge for married couples with two or more children and prams/strollers. Great location and good access to restaurants and the night market, either by foot or Tuk-tuk.
Restaurant Tip : The Tara Bar Restaurant was a great place to spend New Year Eve. Good food, live entertainment and great sights of the city sky. Make sure you get an upstairs outside veranda table and enjoy the entertainment. Chang Mai was a great location for New Years Eve and the sky was a blaze with fireworks. Also make sure your table is confirmed - we booked through the hotel and didn't confirm the booking - it wasn't. If it were not for the accommodating and helpful staff at Tara we may have had dinner at MacDonalds!!!

Very clean rooms. Great service. Nice Pool. Very good location.
Rooms on the terrace side not as nice.
Been to Chiang Mai twice and both times have stayed at this hotel. Even after looking around Chiang Mai for other places that are perhaps cheaper this one still stands out by a long shot. Very clean and has security at the front. Only takes a few minutes to walk to the night Bazaar or the Moat area.
Hotel Feature Tip : Pay the extra money to stay in the main building as the rooms are nicer than the terrace side.

Central location, good and clean room, excellent breakfast, free internet, friendly staff.
I found the hotel in a very convenient location, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was large, clean, and well equipped, breakfast was excellent with all tastes catered for. Free internet is always handy to have. The Maninarakorn Hotel is typical of a large well run hotel, I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for good value for their money.

Rooms have a modern design, fresh decor and clean surroundings.
Sauna and spa are small but still a nice amenity.
The Maninarakorn Hotel is a place we would come back to when in Chaing Mai. Very friendly and helpful staff, free internet access, a wonderful breakfast offered each day and proximity to the night market and city surroundings are some of the reasons we would return and recommend the Maninarakorn.
Nightlife Tip : Close walking proximity to the local Night Market, but off the beaten path enough from the city noise. Many great opportunities for great food at the many local eating establishments.

Walking distance to both old city and night bazaar.
The superior room is not that good and a kind of small. The water in the swimming pool is always cold. The jacuzzi and sauna are not functioning properly. No in-room safe. The king size bed is 2 bound single beds.

good location and good breakfast.
I stayed at this hotel with my girlfriend from Dec. 21 to Dec. 24, 2008 in a superior terrace room. The room was big, but nothing special. The bathroom is horrible, if you are tall this bathroom is not for you. for some reason it is a very low door frame on the bathroom and I hit my head on it a few times. There is no vanity in the bathroom, so there is no place to leave your toiletries bag in there, and there is also no shower curtain and the hot water is spuratic.
Shopping Tip : there is a great night market close to the hotel, worth visiting.

Pool is too small. Hot water in the shower does not work at all.
The hotel was in a very great location. Just a very short walk down the street and you can find the night bazaar close-by. The Sunday Walking Market is also a 3 min tuk-tuk ride away. It is a relatively new hotel so everything was very clean and modern. It would have been nice if the hot water worked all the time.

grat value fro your money
The location of this hotel was perfect. You can walk to the old city and also to the night bazaar. The hotel is clean and well lit. The shower was wonderful, nice glass containment. The amenities were all there. The breakfast was excellent and included both American and Thai foods. The staff was very helpful. They allowed us to store our bags while we took a side trip to Chiang Rai and returned after a day or so. There is free parking at the hotel and 24 hour security. The security personnel got tuk tuks or cabs for people and stopped traffic so we could easily exit from the parking lot. The Hotel has wonderful wood sculptures throughout. There is a lovely pool and also a sauna, which was fabulous. There is also a fitness room. Overall the place is great and we would stay again. As a matter of fact, this was the first time we stayed at the Marinarikorn! we will gladly stay here again
Nightlife Tip : great night bazar 10 min walk from hotel

Decent location
staff very helpful
suprisingly good rooms with seperate bedroom
close to night market
very little to complain about.
To be honest i did not pay much for my room so expected very little, however was very suprised as i got a room with seperate living and sleeping areas and was cleaned on a daily basis. the only downside was the view of a derelict building out of the bedroom window. the location was good and the facilities where adequate with a small pool and steam/sauna facilities. i also found that you could book the sightseeing trips at very reasonable rates within the hotel. overall a very enjoyable stay for the four nights.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : very reasonable rates within hotel for all your trips

Great location - on a main road but not right in it all so can get away from hustle of the city
not a comfy feel to the place - I'm not big on having separate buildings in a hotel - I was in one of the side buildings so the pool, spa, lobby and breakfast place was in the other, main building. Not that it was a huge deal to walk across the private street, but just wasn't as comfortable. If I were in the states and paid the same price for a night at a hotel - this was definitely above and beyond what I would expect it to be, but for Thailand purpose....okay.
Shopping Tip : Definitely a great location if you like to shop - not on any main market roads, but 5 minute walk from Saturday and Sunday Markets as well as Night Bazaar!!!

Nice pool. Very central and convenient location. Professional and friendly staff. Clean, well appointed rooms.
100 Baht for local phone calls
We stayed a total of eight days at this hotel and even with searching around town for a better deal we could find nothing that came close for the money we spend by booking with Agoda. We will be returning to Chiang Mai for New Years Eve and even with the expensive surcharge for the holiday it will be worth it. Make sure you stay in the main building as the terrace side is not nearly as nice and we saw many people complaining about the rooms on that side.
Hotel Feature Tip : Spend the extra money to stay in rooms in the main building.

Very close to night bazaar and town, good value for money, huge room (Terrace Room).
Beds should be in a better condition.
I was there for 2 nights. The hotel is located close to the shopping plaza and not too far from the weekend night market (approx. 15 mins by car). Staffs were very nice and friendly. At first, we didnt like the bed as it was in a very bad condition so they moved us to a different room. The breakfast was very good (both Thai and American available). Overall, quite impressed and definitely coming back here again.

Nice pool. Clean rooms. Central location.
This is a very nice hotel with great value for the money as long as you book with an internet site and don't pay the rate that they have posted at the front desk. We were only a few blocks away from the night bazaar. We will be coming back to Chiang Mai in a couple of weeks and cannot imagine staying elsewhere.

Security at the gate. Very clean and nice rooms. Good buffet breakfast included. Nice pool. Free internet. Close to night Bazaar.
100 Baht for a local phone call.
All of the locals gasp with jealousy when you tell them you stay at this hotel. From the security guard saluting you at the front gate to the very nice and professional staff we felt like
VIP's. The room rates they have for walkins are almost triple what we paid with Agoda. We will be back.
Travel tip : Pre book with an internet service for the best price.
