Convenient. Friendly lobby. Excellent breakfast. Best location next to the hotspot club and next to disco, night market, clean food court. I found the Pornping Hotel very convenient. After staying in Chiang Mai for three days I realized the Pornping is the best location next to the hotspot club with thai live bands and all the locals and next to bubbles disco, night market, clean food court. The friendly lobby staff always answered me in good English. Last but not least - excellent breakfast of both Thai & European food.

This used to be a grand hotel that is offered for a very reasonable price. The night market is just outside and the view from the roof is excellent. The building is very tired now and in need of a renovation. Our stay in the Pornping was pleasant. We stayed on the 17th (non-smoking)floor. The desk staff was always kind of grumpy but if adressed gave the right answers. The cleaning staff was excellent. The clientele was mainly Chinese, Japanese and Dutch. The pool is alright but I had to wait for a sandwich I ordered for half an hour.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The kiosk outside is a good place for booking tours !

The position near the River, Night Market and the busy places. The loud music of the Disco, up to 2 am. It is not the newest hotel in CM, but I specially liked the position near many important places. The staff was always friendly and the room was clean. It would not be bad, to give a better and larger choise of drinks to the minibar. At all I was satisfied about the value for money.

Nice hotel, central location - right next to night market, good clean rooms, hot water, fantastic breakfast food choices. Swimming pool good too. Disco in basement so you want room in higher floors and new wing (don't go in old wing - noisy and rooms need redoing). Hotel is above average compared to others in nearby area for the price. Staff English abilities sometimes okay and sometime not (but we experienced that everywhere). Room was nicely decorated, comfortable beds, and breakfast was great.
Hotel Feature Tip : There's a restaurant on top floor - open air, worth using for dining at night (once) but better food elsewhere.

Restaurant Tip : Very good German and Belgian restaurants when you are tired of the Asian food.

Nice lobby, attentive service Room was fairly basic and old-ish. It was a satisfactory experience, nothing special but it was good value. The lobby area staff were helpful, the area was close enough to markets etc, and it was ok for 1 night. The room was a tad old, but as a low-end budget hotel its pretty good value.

The night bazaar is near and if you want to go to the mall, it is easy to find a tuk tuk nearby.
Shopping Tip : A lot things to buy with cheap price at the nearby night bazaar. If you want to go to body massage, there's a massage parlour at the hotel area.

We truly enjoyed the Pornping. We tried another hotel to save a few
dollars and came away disappointed. You will love the Pornping.
Restaurant Tip : There are some good inexpensive restaurants just two
streets up near the Mosque. Best PadThai and Hala foods.
