The restaurant is illuminated by large Lanna lanterns, and beautifully decorated with nineteenth century paintings that describe part of the life of Lord Buddha on a large cloth that hangs down from the ceiling. Antique Chinese tables and Ming Dynasty plates are placed tastefully along the sides of the restaurant. The focus of the cuisine is Thai, but there is also a large selection of fusion dishes that combine food, sauces, and flavorings from Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, and Europe.

We were awed by the customer service, the layout and energy of hotel--which was very serene--the pool area, the quality of the food and the professionalism of the wait staff.

No money exchange at front desk; faulty air conditioning (it was difficult to figure out how to turn off the lights without turning off the a/c).

From the moment we stepped foot into the Ranchamankha Hotel Chiang Mai, we couldn't have been more pleased. The receptionist at the front desk was amicable, thus leaving us with a very positive first impression. The receptionist walked us to our room, which was standard, and we were thrilled to be staying in such a lovely space. There were two double beds, two armoires, a safe deposit box, several hangers, and a fully stocked bathroom. Every time we ate a meal at the hotel, which for us, was breakfast and lunch a few times, the waiters were not only friendly but also knowledgeable about the menu and willing to go the extra mile to make us happy. The pool area was also beautiful, from the color of the water to the lounge chairs. Chinese antiques were dispersed throughout the hotel, which gave us many unique photo opportunities. There was this serene quality about the Ranchamankha that made us want to extend our stay, which was during the Thai New Year, meaning there was total chaos throughout Chiang Mai, since thousands of people were squirting each other with water guns (part of Thai New Year tradition). We don't know when we will be returning to Chiang mai, if ever, but if we do, we'll definitely choose the Rachamankha, which is telling. This was truly a perfect escape!

Shopping Tip : Definitely go the night markets. We have spent time in Bangkok and Phuket, but made most of our purchases in Chiang mai.

Highly recommended in Chiang Mai! Guest Rating: 9.3

Beautiful, spacious, very friendly and helpful staff. Quiet, private, peaceful. Wonderful dinner in the restaurant, and great breakfasts. Laundry service very affordable. Free access to internet on hotel library computers.

The hotel restaurant is excellent, but there are not other good restaurants within walking distance. That said, it was always easy to find a taxi or tuk tuk for a 5 - 10 minute ride to a restaurant or the night market. Hotel tours a little more pricey than available through other sources.

The place is so spacious it's hard to beieve it only has 24 rooms. It really is even better than it appears on their website. It is in the old part of the city, but in a very quiet neighborhood. Absolutely tranquil and beautiful.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Even though the hotel is small and off the beaten track, every taxi and tuk tuk driver knew right where it was -- transportation to and from was easy.

In Rachamankhua , feel histrical Asian culture. Guest Rating: 9
