location near shopping areas, but also in midst of 'ladies of the night' area; walking to room in outdoor hallway is lovely, but once in room it is very dark, only one small window that looks out onto a nearby cement wall; intermittent internet access, no warm water in bathroom sink (only warm water in shower); restaurant food mediocre; spa way over-priced; nice to have pool at end of the day, though not always easy to find a lounge chair there.

Overall, good value (but there are much cheaper places to stay). Felt safe and secure. Had a good travel agency inside, and the pool was sufficient for an afternoon dip. I would stay again.

We stayed to nights in this nice well located hotel in chiang mai. We arrived by car so it was very important to have a cheap (free) parking possibility. The continental breakfast was good, further warm meals, and excellent fruits especially pinapples were included in the buffet. In chiang mai night market is only a few minutes away from the hotel. All in all it was a very nice stay.

From the moment we stepped in to Raming Lodge, we felt at home- it has a really boutique feel, the staff are friendly and kind. We advised them that we were on our honeymoon, and not only did they decorate the bed, they sent us a honeymoon cake! We booked the deluxe room, which meant we had free wifi, all minibar items complimentary (no alcohol, but sodas, water, cakes, juice), our room was made up every day and the aircon was comfortable.
Complimentary breakfast was ok - as with most 3 start places however there are a number of fantastic restaurants along the same road as Raming Lodge - one being Wild Boar Bar where you can get a fantastic English Breakfast for under 150bht. Don't forget to get a massage from the girls set up right across the road from the hotel - 60bht for a 30 min foot & leg massage. Don't get me wrong - if you want a treatment (body wrap, scrub, full body thai massage, then go to the hotel spa, but for something quick, you can't go past the girls across the street. You can also get your hair washed and blowdried for 100bht! (hair salon about 30m to the right of he hotel.
The hotel has a pool - not too big but perfect when you're nowhere near a beach of any kind - they have food/drinks sent to the pool and if you order a snack, you get a free fruit shake!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
* Definitely stop for a drink/bite to eat at Wild Boar Bar - about 50m to the left of the hotel - say hi to Pete (the owner) Fantastic Thai & Euro food.
* Sunday walking Market - amazingly cheap, well made clothing, shoes, handicraft - in my opinion, best in Thailand.
* Go to a Wat and ask for Mr Yut - he will take you around the city for around 200bht - will show you the sights and take you to handicraft stores, etc - with no pressure to buy - it made our day very comfortable (we were planning on taking tuk tuks everywhere!)

Shopping Tip:
Bargain and bargain. There are alot of stalls selling the same thing, so, do survey before you buy.

I would recommend this hotel as it is in a great location for the night bazaar plus a short walk into the old town. Staff very smiley and friendly and were particulary helpful when we wanted to book train tickets and day trips etc. Breakfast was plentiful and good. Our room was very spacious and clean really hard to find any fault overall. I would definitely stay at Raming Lodge on my next visit to Chiang Mai.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
We did the Jungle Flight which was a fantastic day out if you fancy zipwiring from tree to tree in the Jungle it is so much fun and totally safe. Also would recommend the white water rafting and elephant ride trip.

We were upgraded to the Royal Suite, that set the tone for a fantastic stay, fresh fruit and drinks every day delivered to our room, the resturant is the best, the prices are so cheap you dont have to go anywhere else to eat and "Dan the Man" the Manager makes you so welcome, happy hour is more like happy 5 or 6 hours. Would stay here again in a heart beat. Thanks to all at Raming Lodge for a memorable and first class time.

We were very pleased with our first stay at the Raming Lodge. The bed was the largest king sized bed that we had ever slept in. The bathroom was large and clean with plenty of room for two people in the shower. Good cable reception. The wireless internet connection in the room was very good. An excellent breakfast in the morning with a variety of Thai and western dishes available. Overall I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Defintely would stay there on my next trip to Chiang Mai!
