Rati Lanna Riverside Spa Resort, Chiang Mai

Enjoyed our long stay at the Rati Lana - clean, beautiful big rooms and exceptionally friendly people - loved the breakfast as well , very good.

From the moment we arrived Pia and the RatiLanna staff made sure that my stay was as comfortable and as relaxing as it could be. She gave us a tour and I had the most relaxing 2 hours in the spa on my last day. The pool and the grounds were impeccable and the buffet breakfast was up to par of the best restaurants in NY. I enjoyed the bathroom waterfall and soothing jacuzzi way more than is naturally possible. There is nothing bad to say except that I didn't want to leave.

Our feelings were mixed about this 5 star hotel. There were some good points as well as many bad points. We stayed 5 nights, and for a 5 Star hotel we were a bit disappointed with some of our experience. The location is not great- right at the end of a very long road about 15 mins walk from where everything is happening. There's not that much around that area- a few local bars and a some sleazy karaoke joints. The hotel offers a free shuttle service to the night bizzare which was good. Our stay was comfortable and our room was adequate. Only fault was our fridge wasn't very cold and drinks were warm. Maintanence were notified and they did come to deal with it asap- but it was still warm in the end. House keeping was very good. The hotel was quiet and the pool area was good to sunbathe and relax. Not much choice at the pool bar for drinks or and service was sometimes slow. Food by the pool area was not great. In fact, breakfast choice was not great for a 5 star. The same choices, with different variations here and there. Service at breakfast was very good though. In general staff were very helpful, polite and all spoke good english. The internet was expensive and i had problems trying to use the pc in the business centre and logging onto International sites. Think they could use an upgrade system there and speed was slow. Had a facial their Award Winning Spa and i have to say i was most dissapointed with this. Being a spa & beauty industry professional myself, i thought that the facial lacked technique and was more about product. I expected more than just paying a lot of money for someone to just rub product on my face. The professionalism of spa staff was good though and could not be faulted. Overall our experience was satisfactory, but it was nothing to write home about, nothing special about, just mediocre. I won't be in a rush to return there again.
