Great knowledgable and friendly staff, beautiful clean rooms, good breakfast, free internet, Supremarket around the corner.
There really was nothing about this hotel that we didn't like, except that we had to go home. If I had to choose something the water in the shower was not quite hot enough, but made no real difference as it was so warm.
The staff here were fantastic, the hotel is small enought taht they took an interest in us personally, but large enought that we had plenty of privacy. The room was very clean and well presented, DVD player in the room that was great as not many English TV channels. The breakfast was really good, the pool area is in a nice setting and was easy to relax, and internet was provided free to all guests which was really handy.
The hotel is really close to the city, some great restaraunts on the river and the Sunday walking market, and we were able to walk some days rather than take tuk-tuks. Also, there is the Rimping Supermarket just around the corner which was fantastic. We could buy drinks and food whenever we wanted, and there were heaps of gourmet options. They even have the local South Australian beer we love.
Highly recommended.
Shopping Tip : Supermarket just around the corner for food and drinks was so convenient and much cheaper than restaraunt and mini bar prices.

Hotel was great as was the location and fantastic staff
we ate once at the hotel as we had an early start the following day, the meal was really good but a little pricey for Thailand, this is only a minor criticism.
The hotel is a great sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of Chiang Mai. The hotel is clean and the pool a good size. The hotel room is spacious and well located to a local market and restaurants and is about a 10 min walk to centre of town or 5 min ride in the tuk tuk. The staff were friendly and helpful (couldn't do enough) and made you feel really welcome. We stayed for three nights and whenever we returned to the hotel a member from reception greeted us at the gate with our key and asked about our day out, real personal service. They provided mosquito spray at the table when eating outside in the restaurant and incense outside your door - nice touch. Bicycles are also provided by the hotel to get around. I would highly recommend staying here.
Shopping Tip : Well worth checking out the night market it is huge and you will definitely find a bargain or two! Also, local market and restaurant located 5 min walk from the hotel in the opposite direction to town.

Food at the hotel restaurant was very good.
The WIFI had the best service of all the places we stayed in Thailand.
The staff at the Rimping Village Hotel was extremely friendly and very helpful. They arranged several tours for us and they always found English speaking taxi or tuk-tuk drivers. Also they made sure the drivers took us where we wanted to go not just where the driver wanted to go (No extra shops). We felt that the hotel had a high standard and was an excellent value. We would definitely stay there again.

none - just a bit dark from hotel to fair and bars
The hotel is close to he fair which gets busy at night with all shops ad bars. The hotel is fairly good for the price and you feel comfortable with the stay. There are plenty of travel/package tours available from the hotel.

Great location for walking to the Night Bazaar and old city of Chiang Mai. But the most important piece is that the service is 2nd to none...it is truly 5-star, along the likes of top resorts.
My wife and I just visited Rimping Village and if we ever make it back to Chiang Mai, this is where we will stay! A lovely boutique oasis that makes you feel completely secluded but still only steps away from the busy streets of Chiang Mai. Service and everything are exceptional.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Concierge was very helpful in setting up our thai cooking school, elephant nature park visit and local amenities like tailors, restaurants and spas.

Breakfast, internet , clean, pool, location
The property was small, quiet and well manicured. The staff puts a lot of pride in there work on the grounds and with the guest. The room isn't a 5 star room but it was very comfortable and airconditioned.
We were a 2 minute walk to the main road where it was very easy to get a tuk tuk or taxi to town. I like walking but it was so hot in the day I would reccomend a taxi or tuk tuk.
The hotel offers 24 hour internet access in the lobby and free DVD videos to watch in your room. The pool is warm and breakfast is included. Wireless is free in the rooms for all guest if you have your own computer. Bottled water is put in your room everyday by housekeeping.
Breakfast was included everyday and well worth going to. Everyday the menu changed so the variety kept if ineteresting. The hotel offered free bikes to use with locks anytime you wanted. We would stay here again for sure.
Restaurant Tip : Must go to the riverside restaurant, very recommended

Location, Amenities, Staff, Breakfast
Beds were a little hard, sometimes the hot water in the shower went in and out a little
The Rimping Village was exactly what I expected based on the reviews on Agoda. The staff was great, breakfast was perfect, it was an easy 10 minute walk to the night market, and overall it was a great value for the money. As an example of how the staff went out of their way for us, on our last morning we had to leave the hotel at 7am to catch our flight. However, breakfast wasn't scheduled to begin until 7am. We informed the lobby staff of this the night before, who said to just come down to the restaurant and 6:30am and they would take care of us. They not only took care of us, they actually had the entire breakfast already laid out by 6:30 just for us!
Shopping Tip : Chiang Mai is an easy and affordable place to buy souvenirs. We got almost all of ours there.
Also, "Just Khao Soy" is a great restaurant for trying the local favorite, Khao Soy. It is just east of the night market but west of the river on the main street, south of the iron bridge.

free internet and bikes
clean rooms
good breakfast
a little overpriced and difficult to find
I arrived at the hotel in Chiang Mai after driving in circles for a little while. The taxi driver didn't seem to know where it was and it did was a little hard to find. The rooms were simple but comfortable. It wasn't quite what I was expecting but I was comfortable there. The breakfast was excellent and the service very good. There was free internet which was great to arrange other parts of the vacation and also free bikes. Although the hotel was in a quite area it is only a 10 minute walk to the night market and very accessible to almost everything you need. I found that the rate was a little high for Chaing Mai and although my experience was good I would probably opt for less expensive accomodation next time.

We were not sure about Rimping Village, but this hotel had very good reviews and we decided to try it. It was well worth it. The best feature is its caring staff. They absolutely fall over backwards to serve and assist their customers. They surprise you with a mosquito spray bottle when you are sitting in the garden, suggest what to do and where to go, book tickets, call taxis etc. They always have a smile and do not seem to be affected by the tourist fatigue - something you see in Thailand quite a lot. Good room, comfortable bed, nice breakfast, good beds around the swimming pool. We will be coming again.
The only negative thing I can say is when we were settling the bill - they gave us an additional charge for a glass we broke (one pound). We have never encountered this in a tourist class hotel - the glass was cheap and we don't even mind a quid to pay, but it looks petty in a 4 star hotel. There is a certain amount of breakage to be expected. Facing the bill at the last minute removed that feeling of euphoria that you get having enjoyed your stay. The owner, do change this petty rule!
Rimping Village is in a great place- a hidden corner of Chiang Mai, accross the river. It is a bit away from the tourist areas, where everything is 3 times more expensive. Excellent clean rooms, good bathrooms and marvellous caring staff! Go around the corner to The Shady House Restaurant (a pound a meal), or buy some delicacies in the Rimping supermarket - not worse than Selfridges, all within 3 minutes walk. A lovely little discovery - we will come again.
Restaurant Tip : The Shady House Restaurant around the corner from Rimping Village, opposite the fire station. Very cheap and very delicious. Have coffee in the coffee shop of the Rimping Supermarket - 5 min walk - a great arabica cup!

Like everybody says, the staff was the nicest people. It was such a wonderful environment as well. The room is clean and comfortable, breakfast was great, nice to have a swimming pool which was not heated but very nice. Everything was great.
Not to speak of, but if there's anything, the bathroom was a smaller side.
What a fantastic place to stay!! It's situated 50 feet from busy streets, but once you are inside the property, it's a paradise. Nice setting, nicest people, reasonable (I guess) for what you get. Can't wait to go back there.
Shopping Tip : 5 min. walk to the night bazzar. If you don't mind walking, you can walk to the wall (city center) about 30 min. or so.

Location (close to night bazar)
Quiet
Breakfast
No internet in the room.
Tour packages booked in Hotel are lot more expensive.
The Hotel is nice and quiet. Staff is very polite and prompt. The Hotel is walking distance from night bazar (5-6 blocks) or 50 baht by tuk tuk. Breakfast is ok and room is clean. There is no internet in the room, which for me makes a difference, however, there are 2 computers in lobby where you have free access. The tours you book at the lobby may be 20-25% higher price than booked directly with agency, so if you want to save money you can book it directly with agencies (a bunch of them all over the town).
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Book the tours directly with Angencies, not at front desk of hotel. Hotel charges 20-25% more in some cases (my case). TIC travel is one choice and you can make the Amazing Thailand Tour for $1,500 Baht instead of $1,900 when booking at the hotel. The tour will be exactly the same as the hotel partner agency is TIC (both ways you travel in the same package - van, insurance, pick up and drop off...).

Very helpful staff. Very clean rooms and facilities. Relatively quiet for its proximity to downtown.
Soundproofing not perfect.
From the moment we arrived till the time we left the staff were helpful and accommodating. As long as it was within their power, they made our requests a reality. We had a baby with us and they russled up a tub for her bath. They found airport transportation for for us and made sure we had a boxed breakfast because we were leaving so early (5 am). The pool was kept immaculate and was refreshingly brisk. Plenty of relaxing space in both sun and shade. It was an easy walk to the night market. Just down the lane is a street with several nice restaurants but we preferred the Tree Shade House just a couple buildings east. We felt bad for the neighbours because our baby was sick (and fussy) and if the sound is loud enough, you can hear your neighbours; not clearly enough to understand anything said, though. Overall it was a great experience and we'd love to go back if we ever have the opportunity again.

The staff are wonderful they are very helpful in planning your time in Chiang Mai, the location is very good, the hotel is very well maintained.
We stayed at the Rimping village for 3 nights and we had a great stay. The hotel is designed in Lana style and is very well maintained. The rooms are clean and neat, the pool is beautiful and the breakfast was delicious. The hotel staff really make the hotel they are gracious, and very helpful. They helped us decide the best way to use our time in Chiang Mai, they made phone calls for us and gave us good advice. The hotel location is also ideal. It is just outside of the old city, an easy walk gets you to the riverside, the night market, and into the old city. We did use Tuk Tuks a few times, but that too is very easy and actually fun. Overall we had a great time in Chiang Mai and at the Rimping Village, we would definitely stay there again.

Good sized rooms, clean and comfortable, giant bath and separate shower, friendly and helpful staff. Well placed for the night bazaar.
Quite a hike from the town centre. Poor sound insulation between rooms.
We spent 4 nights at Rimping Village as part of a three stop tour of Thailand. We found the hotel excellent - clean and comfortable, with good sized rooms, very friendly and helful staff, and good food. Excursions and motorbike hire were arranged with a minimum of fuss. The immediate location was quiet, a residential area away from traffic, good for the night market but a bit too far from the town centre to walk it regularly but there were free pushbikes on loan from hotel. Good supermarket just round the corner. The pool area was pleasant and the sunbeds top quality with clean towels ready rolled up on each one, although the water was cold due to lack of sunshine exposure. Visitors would do well to download a map for the taxi before leaving home as the 'soi' is too narrow for cars so access is via an adjoining 'soi'. On arrival at Chiang Mai airport you announce your destination to a taxi desk and they give you a ticket for the taxi to avoid language difficulties, so make sure the desk clerk understands where you are going by showing them the map (other residences have a similar name and luckily for us our taxi driver was more on the ball than the clerk!)
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The beautiful countryside around Chiang Mai abounds with elephant parks, where you can variously ride, feed, bathe the animals, or watch elephants perform tricks. Please try to avoid those which put on 'shows' or feature elephants painting pictures. The training for this is immensely cruel. Through Rimping Village you can book a wonderful one-day or two-day excursion to the Elephant Nature Park, a centre run by dedicated conservationists where rescued animals live in tranquillity in a beautiful valley. All proceeds go towards the running costs of the centre, and it is a fulfilling and moving day out for all the family, including feeding the elephants and wading into a river to bathe them. The website for the park is www.elephantnaturefoundation.org if you want to look for yourselves or book a trip prior to your arrival.

An extremely pleasant environment with even more pleasant staff
The pool and restaurant side could use a little more isolation from the road path
The hotel environment and setting offer a great deal opportunity for calm and soulful rest. One forgets that you are only a short walk from the busy flow of the riverside traffic. And staff goes out of their way to make sure you see nothing but sweet smiling faces.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The River!
