An extremely pleasant environment with even more pleasant staff
The pool and restaurant side could use a little more isolation from the road path
The hotel environment and setting offer a great deal opportunity for calm and soulful rest. One forgets that you are only a short walk from the busy flow of the riverside traffic. And staff goes out of their way to make sure you see nothing but sweet smiling faces.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The River!

Great value, Great service
This is a great boutique hotel within walking distance to the city. The hotel staff is very friendly, honest and helpful. You can book your excursions directly through the hotel. We booked a trek and bought tickets for thai boxing through them. The breakfast is good. This hotel is a good value for your money. Free wireless internet. Free bicycle rentals.

The helpful and knowledgeable staff.
The Rimpling Village hotel is handily placed for access to both the Night Market and the restaurants bordering the Ping River. The hotel itself is situated in a quiet part of the city and the room configuration around the pool creates a restful atmosphere after a busy day sight-seeing. It is however the hotel staff which really sets this place apart, nothing is too much trouble and I fully support the comments made by previous reviewers.

Super friendly staff, good food, small and quiet sanctuary away from hustle and bustle, walking distance to town, lovely grounds.
Rooms not as spacious or modern as other hotels.
The Rimping Village Hotel is a boutique style of accommodation set 10 minutes walking from the larger city area. This is both a strength (quiet) and weakness (10 min walk). The grounds are surrounded by a large wall and block out the streets, surrounding you with lush gardens, lovely blue pool, and small but excellent restaurant. Staff will treat you like family and quickly learn your every preference. Internet is free by wireless or on their PCs in lobby area. This is a home away from home and a welcome respite from the noise and excitement of the downtown area.

- staff was friendly and attentive
- impressive breakfast buffet
- lovely pool area
- our room was huge and well equipped
We stayed at Rimping Village for 5 days in January and were impressed by this small hotel's service and amenities.
One thing to note, the hotel is outside of the walled city of Chiang Mai, near the night market, but a 20 minute + walk to other sites. If your feet are tired, they have free bikes you can use and a tuk tuk is quite cheap, too. We had a great time biking around the city.
Overall a lovely stay and we'd definitely recommend a visit

Relaxed atmosphere around the pool and under the large banyan tree, and free bikes. Staff friendly and eager to help.
Had a ground floor room which was a bit dark and no screens on the window. Pool not heated so a bit cool in winter when afternoons are warm enough to swim but mornings very cool.
The Rimping Village is a good medium range hotel for those who want a relaxed stay in Chiang Mai. Staff are very friendly and bikes great as it is only a short walk to the night market but about 30 mins into the old town. Close to Rimping Supermarket which is great for those looking for foreign snacks and beers to bring back to the room. Families seemed to really enjoy the location, for a couple as us ended up moving into the old city where there was more access to restaurants, cafes and other parts of town.
Shopping Tip : Rimping Village Supermarket has vegemite, next thing is to find bread that is not sweet!

Clean, quiet, safe, great service.
I booked this hotel based mostly on Agoda reviews. I thought the reviews were either all written by the hotel or there was a lot of satisfied customers. As it turned out there are now 2 more very satisfied customers. The hotel was great; all the staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. The room was clean, the breakfast buffet was excellent. We had dinner at the hotel one evening and the food and service were excellent. The wireless Internet was appreciated. Overall we were very satisfied and I will book this hotel again for our next stay in Chiang mai.

-Attentive Staff
-Beautiful Hotel
-Location (not too much of a con, though)
Although it was across the river from the main action in Chiang Mai, the good price, quiet, and comfort of the Rimping Village made the short walk to the Night Market and slightly longer walk to the old city worthwhile. The staff was extremely professional and helpful and seemed to take pride in their hotel. Everything was clean and well designed. The breakfast was very good and served under a lovely tree by the pool. Although the staff warned of mosquitoes, we were not seriously bothered, although the time of year may have played a part.

Fabulous and helpful staff, beautiful property, lovely and comfortable rooms, delicious cuisine, convenient location within walking distance to many attractions and also easy transportation available. We loved the restaurant here, but many other eateries of all varieties are just down the alley on the river or right across the bridge in the old city or at the night market. Computers with internet access available in the lobby and also WiFi so that we were able to conduct business. We definitely preferred this quiet and comfortable location to the noisy chaos of other properties we visited and did not sacrifice convenience.
The lovely open air restaurant was a little buggy, as it is located beside the beautiful pool under a gorgeous old banyan tree, but well worth it, especially since the staff, helpfully and unbidden, consistently provided natural bug repellent as well as smoke pots. Otherwise, no complaints whatsoever.
This property is a beautiful and pristine oasis, tucked away just across the river from the old city, in a convenient but quiet location, down a dark, narrow alley in a residential section literally across the street from the river, but well worth the short walk. Of the seven (7) places we stayed in Thailand on this trip, this was far and away the very best. The rooms were lovely, quiet, comfortable and well equipped. Every single staff person was cheerful and accommodating. The salt water pool is in a gorgeous setting with comfortable, well-padded lounge chairs and plenty of towels. The entire property is perfectly landscaped, maintained and completely spotless. The office staff was extremely helpful with tours, transportation and allowing us to use their printer in the office. The restaurant menu was impressive, with extensive and diverse choices, and the dining staff was fabulous, even cheerfully modifying menus to accommodate our tastes and dietary restrictions. They had a decent bar selection and even knew not to refrigerate the red wine, which was from a box but imported and absolutely fine. The breakfast buffet was delightful, with an amazing array of selections as well as custom prepared dishes. We were simply blown away by our stay here, wishing we had discovered it much earlier in our visit, as we would have avoided all the disappointments at the prior properties that were mostly overpriced, sometimes not comfortable and not completely as represented.
Restaurant Tip : The restaurant is wonderful, a great value considering the selection and accommodating staff. Even though it closes at 10, it was a great benefit to be able to stop in for a delicious late supper or just a drink or snack after a day out in the city. We had eaten at quite a variety of places prior, both low end and high, but this small hotel kitchen was our favorite. If we return to CM, we will book into the Rimpling for our entire visit, no question.

The hotel is very clean, the rooms are comfortable, the setting is nice.
The staff is extremely helpful and efficient, very professional and service oriented, especially the staff at the reception desk.
The hotel is about 2 km from the nights bazaar and a bit further from the old town which means a tuk tuk is required for any activity.
Most of the rooms have no view and the heating system for hot water is not very efficient.
Breakfast is average (coffee is quite terrible and supposedly hot dishes are actually cold).
I would definitely recommend this hotel, which offers a good value for the money on Chiang Mai standards. Although the hotel is a bit away from the old town and the night bazaar, it offers a very quiet and relaxing setting. The rooms are nice and the staff extremely efficient. All in all a very good address!

Exceptionally clean and neat rooms. Prompt service. All one could ask for in a breakfast, including delicious, fresh coffee. Thorough information about the town, restaurants, things to see. Convenient and very reasonable taxi-guide service for the entire day. Transport to the airport. A friendly, well-informed, attentive staff.
There is nothing negative that we can say about this hotel!!!
We have nothing but good comments about this hotel during our week stay over New Year. The rooms were clean and neat, the staff were exceptionally polite and attentive. Ms Wan, who handled our requests, was quick to respond and make us feel at home. She even provided for information about restaurants, places to see and visit. Her attitude was to have us enjoy our stay to the maximum extent. We will return.

Very comfortable, quiet, good breakfast and very friendly & helpful staff.
Our train was nearly 3 hours late from Bangkok so we did not arrive until after 11pm. Although the restaurant had closed they offered to get us something to eat which we declined. When we had booked a white water rafting trip through another agency the hotel were more than happy to provide us with their pool towels at no cost. We requested a late checkout which was granted with no problem to facilitate our return train journey. Very attentive staff and excellent breakfast.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Eat at Riverside restaurant on same side of river as hotel 200 meters past the road bridge.
